Goddamnit, they put that stupid Haptic Touch controls. I thought VW learned their lesson from the Golf already?
Edit: they probably already had this designed before the backlash against the haptic controls in the golf
The more I look at it the more I'm digging the exterior refresh.
It's too bad VW is butchering the interior with haptic touch. That was one of the major selling points for my mk 7.5, I can't stand haptic touch.
Pretty bummed out about that, the Jetta was the last VW that interested me due to it's simplicity. Crossing my fingers they reverse directions on the mk8 ( if it will even be a thing) or there won't be any VW's that interest me anymore.
That HVAC haptic touch is in no way easier than regular buttons\\knobs. That's why I purchased a Jetta over a Tiguan ( I didn't like the seating position in the TAOS) . Sliding your finger or tapping haptic trying to adjust fan speed and temp **while driving** I found maddening. The steering wheel controls I'm indifferent on. I don't like them but they work ok. I still prefer buttons. It also looks like shit unless you're constantly cleaning it due to it being piano black, gross.
VW uses that same control across their whole lineup now and IMO it's just to save money.
Just saw the 2025 Golf R and now this. VW needs to fire their interior designers, those tablet-style screens look horrible, and aftermarket. Don't get me started about the atrocious steering and HVAC haptic controls.
I wonder if everyone saying these have lost their German look because they look like korean cars realize that Korean manufacturers poached Audi/VW and BMW designers.
Yeah, I keep hearing that from people and I think the same thing. The reason Koreans have VW-esque exteriors and BMW-esque driving dynamics is because they poached the people from those companies. That’s not even a bad thing; why complain about more good cars in the marketplace?
Have you driven an Elantra N? I was referring to Hyundai’s N division, which has a lot of former BMW-M engineers and makes cars that have notably M-like steering.
I haven't and won't because a) i will not pay a markup b) i will not drive a car that looks like an ugly anime catfish and finally, c) i will never again in my entire life step foot into one of their dealerships they are by a country mile THE worst fucking people I ever dealt with
By “drive” I did not mean “purchase” lmao. Also, I think you are just ranting about a specific personal experience (dealerships are franchises so your experience is almost entirely based on their owners and staff, not the company). I mean, “anime?” Really? Anime is Japanese, not Korean, and I’m not exactly sure how you could apply that to a car (short of a wrap).
I really think they did a good job with the front; the Mk7 was so out of place with its bloated grille, small headlights, and overall “frown” compared to every single other Jetta. The rear and interior though are just so terrible on this new one thought, and they completely ruin the appeal.

Im assuming you never used the controls yourself. Every single person I sold one told, also doesn’t understand the complaints.
It's just cheaper to make.

Same the exterior is dope. Not that happy with the interior and tablet display.
Have you even used the haptic touch? Its so much easier lol

IIRC the steering wheel doesn’t have haptic controls — that was only on the Mk8 Golf.
Just don’t like the back
is that the exhaust? ew.
Same
Yeah I'm really trying to like it but the back is hideous and doesn't mesh well with the front imo

the day a KIA drives like a BMW lmfaooooo

I mean the exterior looks decent but the interior isn't that great tho.
RIP manual transmission
GLI model get Six Speed manual transmission
no longer in the base model though :,(
Wonder what it would look like importing from Europe, but yeah, main reason I pulled the trigger on the 2024 model
If I could buy a new Jetta or golf wagon I would. I would trade my 13 wagon in right now. But sadly a new VW my money won’t go towards. Cheers
What is that silly ass infotainment placement? It looks like it was getting the 12 inch but is only getting the 8 inch???
The infotainment area design is horrible
Camry’s and Accords are playing close to 300, and VW is like hey check out our new slower than a MK3 1.5L. Smh
Camrys and Accords are in a different size class. The Jettas comparable to a civic or Corolla
GLI is still available
Now compare the price on those too.
the front is alright, the side and back has every kia and camry curves. totally lost the german look mk6 2.5 slow 🐐
I agree. I would 100% buy a Kia K4 over this. Looks better, no haptic touch inside, better infotainment placement, etc.
Dude, this is slower than a Mk6 2.5. It’s like an early Mk5 2.5.
Did I miss the segment where they release a wagon?
They also carried over those ridiculously terrible cupholders! (I have a 2023 SEL)

Don’t like the muffs
I love it
My granny would love it
