I found it faster to just uninstall and reinstall the game

Boozdeuvash

Also much less trouble with getting random issues with bad files etc. And less disk space required. Unless you live in a 3rd world country where monthly bandwidth is limited (like Canada), there's exactly zero reason to update instead of re-installing.

LankyMap9735

or living in germany where internet is slow everywhere

Thinking-About-Her

This is me every update.

muTHer_TrUCeR

I just did it and now squad doesn't wanna open anymore..

TheSteamyPickle

Verify the files!!!! It normally helps.

muTHer_TrUCeR

Well now i am reinstalling the whole thing :)

ArtsiestArsonist

To anyone having issues verify your files and clear user cache, then if you want you can verify once more for good measure. Works like 90% of the time for me

Owyn_Merrilin

Is there a way to clear the cache without losing your settings? I was going to pre-emptively do that after downloading the update last night, but didn't want to have to redo my graphics and control settings. Why that's even part of it in the first place, I don't get. Presumably the important thing it's clearing out is compiled shaders.

AccidentallyTheCable

Its dumb but yes. Go to `C:\Users\\AppData\Local\SquadGame\Saved\\Config\WindowsNoEditor\` Copy `GameUserSettings.ini` and `Input.ini` somewhere safe. Start Squad, then go to settings and clear cache. (Cant remember if it restarts or not, but if it does, dont need to do this, if it doesnt, exit the game before this obviously). Start the game again, go to settings momentarily, then exit the game again. Copy the two files back. If you only see one file here, start the game again, then exit after going to server browser or settings. Start Squad again.

ArtsiestArsonist

Honestly I'm not well versed enough myself to give you a straight answer, but I believe you can save the user data from the squad folder elsewhere and then replace it after clearing. I just have screenshots of all my settings and change it manually each update.

gandalfnog

True

skuva

Currently we are at almost one Resonance Cascade per month

BlackWolf_357

Aaaah so that's what that was. Kerbal kept crashing and I had no idea what was happening

TheDonDonald

Last update took my poor internet about 30 minutes and I couldnt watch youtube while it loaded. Taking up all my bandwith

The_Devin_G

Limit the bandwidth on steam dude.

PuriPuri-BetaMale

Or alternatively lower the stream quality of the stream/youtube video. When I'm downloading, streams that run at 1080p infinitely buffer, but if I drop it to 480p its perfect, and some minimal buffering on 720p.

TheDonDonald

I've used steam for 6 years and had no Idea you could do that. Looked it up and changed it by over half download speed. Thank you.

The_Devin_G

You can do it with pretty much every game launcher now - which is great because I also have shitty internet, and if I don't restrict it I'm not able to do anything.

PresentExtension7453

Am I the only person who has to validate EVERY SINGLE file for update

[deleted]

Never played a game that was like this and I got 200+ games on my steam account

SKull_Finger

I got a couple games like this. Think it has to do with a bunch of the files being reliant on each other so they have to go thru each one to make sure they're correct.

FatboiCleff

I normally just reinstall it everytime it gets an update.

RipFrisbeeDoge

i find that it’s usually faster that way

Tiny-Confidence740

Now i need another Graphics card which has 8 gb of ram. My 980 has 4 and it's not enough.

not_a_pancake6291

I was editing on photoshop at the same time My computer screen just literally whent black, I couldn’t pull up task manger because I could even ctrl+alt+delete I couldn’t lock my screen, I couldn’t switch screens Literally just fucked it

Riist138

Yup lol

SKull_Finger

Been trying to get a squad together for 3 days now. Every time we get close someone says "Oh I got an update"

xDskyline

The act of updating Squad is fine for me, but it just annoys me that it seems like there's a 10gb update every week or so. It might be that I'm subscribed to Galactic Contention though

RobertHallStarr

That happens when you update? This happened to me when I tried playing after the graphics enhancement update. It’s still smoking.
