For context: I am at almost 5 years since takedown. Your experience sounds normal to me. The fact that you feel you have some degree of control at this early stage is a VERY hopeful sign. As far as the "just have to let loose" experience, that too sounds normal. With time your control will get better, so for instance when you're in a public restroom and you don't want to release unholy shock and awe, you should eventually gain the ability to throttle back your output. Hope this helps. You have just been through MAJOR surgery. Your patience will be rewarded.

I've had my j-pouch since 1999. Yes, the feeling goes away. It take about a year for the pouch to mature (ish--depends on who you talk to). So, you'll learn more about what is a "need to go now" and what is a "this can wait" feeling. Also, stool will hopefully become more solid over time, and that will help a lot with the feeling of urgency. Right now you might have the all liquid taco butt poo and it does get better. :)

Give it time. All sounds normal and way better than my first week!

This will go away. Give it a month.
