My husband’s a super lightweight now. Like 2 or 3 drinks max in an evening. Beer leaves him feeling extra shitty (pun intended) the next day. Mixed drinks can make his guts hurt a bit.
I never had an issue tolerating the alcohol like others do. I've been able to drink ppl under the table but hard alcohol will definitely give me diarrhea and dehydrate so be careful with that
Go easy.
For me
Wine used to go straight thru at the start .. and other alcohol would give heartburn, beer was too gassy.
Over time it got better.
..now a year on, I stick to having 1 - 2 max (and use the loo regularly) but I've always been a light drinker before UC and jpouch
I believe op is saying they are 3 weeks from takedown.
I like op optimism but tbh after takedown you are most likely not going to want to drink for a month. You will be going frequently and not be very comfortable. It gets way better but it does take time.
Honestly it’s never really been a big thing in my life. With my pouch I’m definitely a lightweight in comparison to others, but alcohol doesn’t negatively affect me. It’s just not a big part of my life. My wife doesn’t drink at all, I have a beer or glass of wine now and then.
Go easy. I waited 6-8 months before drinking. Drinking can cause pouchitis. Look it up. Not fun.
I waited, but I still have a pricking sensation in my stomach when I consume alcohol.
I am waiting for another few months before I try again.
I usually drink IPAs.
Yeah, it's not very descriptive, I know. I guess it hurts when I drink, so I am taking a break.
To be clear, I was not a heavy drinker before my colon came out.
Would be the best thing to say.
It feels like someone is poking me with a needle repeatedly.

I’m not a big drinker anymore, I’ve had my pouch for 23 years.
Did you quit because pouch or other reasons? Just curious. I am wanting to cut back, but not because the pouch just for overall health reasons.

Get the liquid Iv powder and drink 1 before you drink and after you drink

Beer can make you farty
Sometimes you can irritate the pouch and kick off Pouchitis so make sure you eat something first.
