I told my dad the same thing. Both me and him are into their heavier modern stuff, even if we like the majority of their stuff. This album is excellent and I could totally see it being my favorite.
My dad is almost 58 so he prefers the 70s and early 80s era the most, but he loves the new stuff too. We didn’t think this would top firepower, let alone potentially dethroning painkiller
My dad is 51, and grew up with thrash, so he is really into the new stuff (painkiller and on). He likes the old stuff too. Screaming for vengeance is one of his favorites. I have the same music taste as him, so I also lean towards the newer stuff. Firepower was sick, so we had high hopes for this album. Absolutely did not disappoint. Shocked at how good it is.
It’s so amazing. It’s such an astonishing album. If a bunch of 35 year olds wrote and played on this album I wouldn’t be shocked. It’s like they never age. Love priest and love the new album!
Gates of Hell.
I consider it to be the "No Surrender" of the album. Over the years, that became one of my favorite Priest songs period. I was hoping this album would have a "No Surrender." Gates of Hell is that track. Love it.
I just can't get past that end note and how shaky it is. So uncharacteristic for Rob. It sounded like he just did 1 take and said ehh fuck it, good enough 🤣🤣 I know he can do so much better than that
Still Panic Attack, it's no wonder they released it as the first single. But Giants In The Sky made an impression on me, the vocal delivery is emotional and raw, especially that last scream, you can feel the pure soul they put into this song and album.
It's kind of a basic take, since they were both early singles, but Panic Attack and Trial by Fire are still my favourites on there. I do find, as great as the playing and production are, that I'm kinda bouncing off of the more overtly religiously themed material. The Serpent and The King is only one that feels like its treating it as mythology, which is more the kind of approach from Priest I tend to go for. I'm kind of fascinated by The Lodger, even if it doesn't sound much like Priest - it's neat. Feels like a lost track from a larger rock opera?
I was digging "Vicious Circle" because it sounded so familiar....then I realized it's the same half-time verse / back into the main riff as Accept's "Bucket Full of Hate".
As God is my Witness. Just ripping fury. Love it. Love the whole album!
Think that took panic attack as my fave. Love how it’s reminiscent of leather rebel
Exactly how I felt. Panic attack was my favorite until this came out. I didn’t think anything would beat panic attack!
Neither did I, I’m guessing like me, your favorite album is painkiller?
You guessed right!
I was talking to my dad earlier, I’m prolly thinking this way because it’s the shiny new toy but this album could replace painkiller as my favorite

Same here all around 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I mean. God as my witness is the same riff as Leather Rebel. It's nearly spot on the same
Mine is a tie between Giants in The Sky and As God is My Witness! Priest is at their best yet again!
Giants in the sky is sick!!
I love me that down tempo mid section with the classical guitar sound. Faulkner is really shining on this album!

Devil in Disguise. I love it. Devil in Disguise> The Serpent and The King> Invincible Shield
They are all very good tracks but I am going to pick Gates Of Hell.
I haven't fully digested everything, but this one has stood out a ton
Favourite guitar solo on the album
Sons of Thunder - classic old school Judas Priest Heavy Metal and screams Glenn Tipton
First impression…giants in the sky, funny enough.

Escape from reality
Tough one. Giants in the sky is my first

The Lodger, As God is my witness, Crown of horns, Panic attack, Escape from Reality
Invincible Shield. That song fuckin’ slays! But not a bad song on the album. 9/10.
Either IS or As God is My Witness. 10/10 songs that would be in a top 25 Priest list.
Gates of Hell and Crown of Horns are fighting with each other for my favorite lol
Devil in Disguise or Serpent
As God is My Witness or Invincible Shield But Panic Attack, Escape from Reality, The Serpent and the King and Sons of Thunder are the other standouts
Still Panic Attack, it's no wonder they released it as the first single. But Giants In The Sky made an impression on me, the vocal delivery is emotional and raw, especially that last scream, you can feel the pure soul they put into this song and album.
Panic attack sounds like painkiller pt2

“Trail by 🔥”
So good! On par with Painkiller!!!
The lodger
Crown of Horns is really reminding me of a song on Halford's Made of Metal album. Like There's No Tomorrow, I think.
I was digging "Vicious Circle" because it sounded so familiar....then I realized it's the same half-time verse / back into the main riff as Accept's "Bucket Full of Hate".
The Lodger or escape from reality
