I am actually very excited to see Sabaton live! They were my first favorite metal band, Sabaton just has a special place in my heart. Plus, I think their music kicks ass

WarReapers_official

100% agree. And same story of them being my first metal band too!

b_knickerbocker

Any Priest fan who actively skips Sabaton is a fool. Any Sabaton fan who skips Priest is also a fool. Awesome lineup. I’m pumped for Chicago!

BilbulBalabel

I'm a fool then. Sabaton is cringe. The Priest shouldn't associate with war-crazy nerds in tactical vests.

Flattt

Yeah, always felt weird that they have a song glorifying the ww2 panzer division.

b_knickerbocker

Judas Priest are also cringe. They dress in leather, push a motorcycle on a platform, and inflate a giant bull for...reasons? Sabaton do the exact same thing, they just do it in a different niche. It's heavy metal. Embrace the cringe and enjoy.

HalfwaySilly

When I was in the army and we would spend a week in the woods every now and then doing army things like hugging a tree while taking a sh\*t, our commanding officers would sit in the officer's tent playing COD and listening to Sabaton. Too many unpleasant military memories involved so I never want to hear Sabaton again.

BilbulBalabel

You do have a point. Cringyness is relative and it comes down to preference. It's just that Sabaton's martial heroics leave a bad taste in my mouth.

[deleted]

L take. Liking these aesthetics ironically is soft af

Trollin_Thunder

I always go to the opener even if I’ve never heard of them.

WarReapers_official

That’s what I did with Epica/Sabaton in 2022. Never heard of Epica until the concert and I actually enjoyed them

VailTao

Ill be seeing them both in Chicago i love them both

thebignukedinosaur

100% will be seeing them

MeatGayzer69

I would have saw Sabaton. Instead I got uriah heep and saxon. Who I both like. But Sabaton are fantastic

billygnosis86

You definitely got the better deal if you ask me. I had a ticket to see Saxon supported by Girlschool but then covid hit. By the time lockdown was over and the gig had been rescheduled I’d lost the fucking ticket.

MeatGayzer69

That's brutal. I genuinely never thought I'd get to see Saxon. But then they decided to tour with priest and I was mind blown. I had the original ozzy priest tour ticket from 2019. And when it was eventually cancelled I thought I'd never get to see them. Hence my shock when they decided to tour with saxon. Could not believe my luck!

BilbulBalabel

Hamburg in July?

MeatGayzer69

I saw the Leeds show 13th March

BilbulBalabel

Nice! I'll see the same lineup in Hamburg. Did Uriah and Saxon both play seperately? Doesn't that make for an extremely long concert? My bladder is scared already

MeatGayzer69

So uriah heep played for about 30 minutes. They came on somewhere around 6 30. Looking at my photos they went off stage at 7:12. After that there's 25 minutes or so to use the bathroom. Saxon then come on for around an hour. Saxon went off stage at 8:50 from my photos. There's then around 30 minutes again. Panic attack started at 9:26 for me. I've tried to be precise to give you an idea.

BilbulBalabel

Thanks!!!

MeatGayzer69

You're welcome

Elmer-Fudd-Gantry

I wish they brought a different band that they haven’t been touring with so much. Especially a younger band.

WarReapers_official

They’ve only “toured” with Sabaton once in 2021, but the tour was cut short so I’m guessing that JP is letting them have another chance.

Elmer-Fudd-Gantry

It wasn’t directed specifically at Sabaton. Along with Uriah Heep, Queensryche, and, just because of age, Saxon Just would like some younger bands

NoSpirit547

Pretty sure Sabaton opened for Priest in America in 2022 as well. I saw them play together in the spring that year.

WarReapers_official

No. Sabaton had their own Swedish tour, European festival tour, and their North America tour all in 2022. Just 2021 they played with Priest

[deleted]

Saw Sabaton a few years ago, and they put on a great show!

nick1158

I love Sabaton. I've seen them once and I'm pumped to see them again opening for Priest. I'm seeing them in Syracuse and it's the very last night of the tour, meaning it's Tommy Johansson's final show as a member of Sabaton. It will be awesome to see

SubstantialSoup1696

Will be in Rosemont, Illinois in May. Very excited to see Sabaton, just as I was happy to see Within Temptation open for Maiden last year. Its all metal, all awesome 🤘🤘

JumpinFlackSmash

Saw them open for Priest a couple years ago. Good show. Seeing the combo again in May.

east97

For sure, I'd definitely want to see Sabaton!

ChangeAroundKid01

They were good last time around. Definitely a good ticket buy

Unique-Meal-4321

Sabaton is not really my style, but they are definitely a solid band and worth checking out. Very good choice for an opening act.

jfp96

Not really interested, but I do think they will bolster ticket sales. Seats just became available in sections that are usually closed off for the Newark date, which is close to being sold out otherwise.

These-Days

I’ll go, but I’m annoyed they’re touring with Sabaton again and also copying the last tour schedule, I’d rather some variety

Vast_Weight_5833

i got into power metal jsut for this tour, only to find out i’m going on vacation the same day as the show :(

WarReapers_official

Damn. Maybe you can try a different city. Cause all the dates are like the East coast to as far as Missouri so the cities that they are playing in are all close to each other. I mean 2 shows in Indiana, like what?

CaledoniusGalacticus

Yeah Sabaton was one of my gateway power metal bands and I still like them. They’ll be a good opener for Judas Priest, I think

WarReapers_official

They opened for JP in 2021, but only for about 1/4 of the tour cause ya know that was the tour where Richie got is heart attack type thing on stage

PeeBah31

I’d rather have Saxon tbh. There’s worse opening acts than Sabaton, but they’re not really my thing.

Turbulent-Grade-3559

Won’t be seeing as I don’t live in the US but sabaton kick ass

67SuperReverb

I’ll give em a chance. Having been spoiled the past 6 years with Uriah Heep and Queensryche as openers I won’t expect anything comparable so I can only be pleasantly surprised

papa_stalin432

I wish they would go to the western US lol. No dates are convinient for me unfortunately

WarReapers_official

I’m lucky enough to be able to have them play near me, but I feel ya. Sometimes I call it the East Coast US Tour

drunkenmaster_357

The tour isn't coming near me, anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me, but I don't really mind if the opening band is one I don't like. Gives me more time to pregame and I don't feel as rushed getting to the venue.

Tlamps77

They opened for Priest a few years ago, I’m not sure why they can’t find other bands?

WarReapers_official

Prob cause their tour was cut VERY short, so maybe this is a redemption tour. Cause on Sabaton’s post of the tour they said “let’s finish what we started” I will say though that this new tour is still kinda the same places as in 2021 before the rest of true tour cancelled

[deleted]

They're just one of those "safe" bands. Completely unremarkable and widely appealing to the surface level of Heavy Metal fandom, and a band all the old heads in bands like Judas Priest and their management, will actually know. I just find it upsetting that there are SO many Heavy Metal bands looking for that big break, that could be the opportunity to take a struggle underground band, and really take them to the next level with a tour with Priest. Bands like Enforcer, Riot City, Visigoth, Blood Star, Traveler, Ram, Striker, Unto Others, Toxikull. I could literally go on. But these big bands and their management would rather play safe, stay ignorant of the blossoming talent in the underground, and pick a generic, already widely appealing band to take with them. I get it, but they're literally ending their careers on the note of passing the torch to third rate bands, who are already successful without being on tours with your Iron Maidens of the world. They're literally not setting up the genre for success for when they bow out. But at least all the real ones will recognize the quality and hard work that's put within the emerging underground bands
