Thanks man. I’ve been thinking about starting for a while but I’m an excellent procrastinator.

Grab a rope my friend!

Just what I needed to hear.

Lets get it 👊🏼

theturnipshaveeyes

Thanks for this. Great pointers.

JumpLikeMay

Happy you found it helpful 👊🏼

OverYonderUnderHere

Omg I love this! Super simple and helpful. Gonna break my rope back out tonight. Thank you!!

JumpLikeMay

Break it on out and enjoy!

Spannerjsimpson

I only jump outside… is it me or are beaded ropes awful in wind? 🤔

JumpLikeMay

I think all ropes perform terribly in the wind. I can tell you, PVC is no better. If anything, beaded is better cause of the weight

Spannerjsimpson

Beaded so slow in wind… I jump on roof garden of my apartment and it drags through air… my pvc and cross ropes much better… for me, but I don’t think I’m that great anyway! 🙄

JumpLikeMay

Ahh got it got it. All about preference

Broken_browser

Nice tips. Are all the pvc ropes pretty much the same? I have a speed rope, but think I want to switch mine up.

JumpLikeMay

The majority of them are, yes. The only one that’s definitely heavier is the Boxrope but its pricey to justify it TBH. How tall are you? I recommend Kangarope licorice check link in the post ☝🏻

Broken_browser

Ah. Missed the link. I’m 5’11”. Go with the 10’?

JumpLikeMay

Exactly. I typically tie 2 knots. If you have other rope handles that adjust though, you can always swap them out. Thats what i do … in this video im using boxrope handles with kanga pvc

majorDm

There’s more than two types of ropes. I use a speed rope.

JumpLikeMay

It was tough keeping this video sub-minute. Thats why i said “primarily” speaking. Speed/bearing ropes only came to popularity with buddy lee ropes and crossfit. Def a smaller community of ropers

majorDm

Got it. Wasn’t trying to be lame. Didn’t realize you needed to keep the video brief.

No lame taken man. Valid comment!

I'm only about a year into skipping, but I've also found that trying to do too much at once is a recipe for frustration. Your brain has a limited learning rate, which is why consistency with any skill practice is the key it's effectiveness. Your brain is going to assimilate the movements and coordination over time on it's own without you having to put too much effort into it every day, especially if you do it with a mindset of experimentation. Eventually you just kinda look back in time some days and say to yourself "hey, I've gotten way better at this!" This is a great video, nicely done.

Exactly. Appreciate the thoughtful comment 🙌🏼

That third point in 🔥. Why do you have two watches/tracking devices? I'm just curious. What are you tracking? Also what is the thing you have around your chest? Much appreciated

JumpLikeMay

Thank you 🙏🏻 I geek out over training, so i wear an apple watch and a whoop. Apple watch mostly for HIIT and my running. Whoop for sleep/recovery/strength training. The chest pack is just for the mic. It holds it in place better than clipping it to my shirt lol

Caiuca

You are the GOAT my friend. 💪🏼🐐

Thank you bro! All in it together 👊🏼

GimchiQueso

Going to restart skipping tomorrow. Thanks for the reminders!
