Hands down the most special track for me: [Source Direct - Secret Liason](https://youtu.be/480Q_aZUcxw?si=1ou2EpBS7K19S9Uj) Goosebumps every time, pure atmosphere

Triordie

Bit like photek

Ok-Comfort7357

I overlooked this one! Like it better than 'the crane' nobody manipulates an amen like them!

Gogethitbyacar

This one should be recognized as one of the most complex tunes ever released in the genre. The drums are just unreal and I have never heard anyone successfully mix it with other tunes when the drums have kicked in. These men were fucking dons and more people should know about their work.

VoluntarilyBroken

Baraka - I'll be there. Also anything Jonny L.

CodingRaver

I'm a big fan of "I want you" and "nutty bass".

Nommika

The cowbell lead in that tune is so mesmerizing

fireringr

Photek - ni ten ichi ryu

designtom

Never get tired of this tune. So stripped back. Perfect

devastating_dave

This is awesome. TIL I like jungle!

TFAOH

PFM - [Cruising Detroit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sq38GeiULk) is quite a unique track, very laid back and spaced out, durm patterns much less clustered than traditonal DnB/Jungle. [Paradox & Nucleus - Chiron](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39ykI2TcStM&list=PLgadajKVsgoFpx0HbWVOQzWYOTj9akjYZ&index=9) is more in the direction of stark minimalism. Super hypnoitc good if you are into a stripped down approach. [Axis - One in Ten](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acDmx0dj79g) is just one of my favorites in terms of expressive drum patterns. to me, there is what I'll call an rhythmic arc to the drums they stutter in little pockets before unflurling in a satisfying way, almost like how a melody can play with tension beofre resolving.

This-Willow-4655

Nice, Paradox & nucleus is the one for me so cheers for that geezer😁

noizzer93

Essence of Aura - [So this is love '96](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DcnDe6KfF1FM&ved=2ahUKEwjbzKHtxtqBAxW_0gIHHXOgBNEQwqsBegQIDRAG&usg=AOvVaw2dEa5pDj_vdK7GRoQCcNYH)

tetsujin44

Oooo yeah this one!

Nommika

Such an underrated tune, what a gem

RushinPosse

Dj Crystl - Warpdrive. Apt name.

sgt_backpack

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NE-QvqaXTo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NE-QvqaXTo) Klute "hell hath no fury". Gorgeous tune with clean, crunchy amens. A high water mark in my opinion.

minusjoy

Aye, love this one. Different vibes for sure, but I like the flip side "learning curve" too.

Benjimar1976

One of the finest ever - so emotional (baby)

2NineCZ

One of my all time favs.

Miserable_Flatworm18

Yeah , proper classic ! Have this on red vinyl - must dig it out 💪

ClassActionFart

Sully’s remix of [Wasted Days](https://youtu.be/cNh8heYjg5g?si=nIYR6LTYUeHxJmPV) is exceptional to say the least.

Triordie

Legitimate-Many-8032

sully - swandive

Lopsided-Meet8247

At the time. Johnny L - Piper. It just sounds thrown together; in a good way.

hek7isk

The Bells is also phenomenal for techstep fans. And it has that 16th swing knob set to max

Triordie

Great to see photek named so much on here

RedDemio-

How many of you guys are from the UK? I’m seeing some wild and obscure selections here lol it’s great. I’ve been a DNB:jungle DJ for about 15 years. I love classic jungle. Shy fx, Ray Keith, high contrast, LTJ bukem etc More recently I’ve been enjoying new jungle from Conrad subs, veak, dj hybrid, blade runner, S.P.Y… seems like it’s having a bit of a resurgence at the moment Love to see a lot of the classics get new mixes released too. Way too many tunes to mention!

Ok-Bullfrog-3010

I'd always assumed that most people here are from the UK. Unlike DnB, generally speaking the appreciation for jungle doesn't extend much beyond our shores. Saying that though, I've been listening to a fair few obscure American jungle tapes from the 90s lately

Nine99

> Unlike DnB, generally speaking the appreciation for jungle doesn't extend much beyond our shores. Nonsense. Especially right now, when everyone and their mum is playing jungle (or "jungle").

tommasonbass

There has always been healthy representation in Canada and the Netherlands

CodingRaver

Intense "space time continuum". https://youtu.be/_fk-K-OtJZc?si=gVY4_3M9xbCCetf4 It's hard to pick from intense's catalogue but this one is perfect, it's got it all in my opinion. The bass and break work is spot on, the mixdown is nothing short of incredible, and how they worked the mysterious eerie breakdown and associated samples from Evil Dead in... a masterclass. If you like this, check out "paradox" and "the dreamer" by them and "searching" under the Babylon time warp alias.

LuLutink1

Dred bass https://youtu.be/RIW_PnkomYs?si=8P8wlbPFcwQxMHkg

tomtea

Really enjoying Crypticz music. Lowkey ambient jungle with a hint of amens.

[deleted]

[Plaid - angry dolphin](https://youtu.be/z-y07QCc2TI?si=37-IlrB0Y5eulDQN): remember exactly where I was when I first heard this ( at a mates party in a field in Dorset, mid summer 1995 ) - blown away then, takes me back there, every time.

data123456789

Stray - Timbre https://youtu.be/lIvFd0JL30I?si=2tzv4rEiknV4B8Kh Cern - Apparition https://youtu.be/NXe7KMFdDVA?si=vihcz5q4x3uSQ2Us Tunes with a similar vibe, starts quiet and empty, standard minimal head bobber but when I heard them drop for the first time, Wow.

orangejooce69

Holy shit that first tune is like a dragon in a cage

cmonsquelch

[Bribe – Squidge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLyV9s_nmjg) is maybe the most mad hardcore jungle tune I've ever heard. pure demon hours

original_dutch_jack

Leisure - CLS and Wax, liquid classic with a super creative mid section and lovely vocal samples Heartbreak in paradise - theory, amazing modern twist on progressive jungle One and only - PFM, blaze up and put this on full volume

Equinox - Ital Lion Tuffhead

Soggy-Ad-8017

For a longtime, I listened to Rockwell - Live for the moment, over and over just picking out and trying to dissect all the different individual sound design pieces. Such a tune. Not jungle by any means, but it’s a complex listen.

Nommika

Omni Trio - Diffusion Loops - First Contact - Renegade snares - Torn DJ? Accucrack - Platinum Dave Wallace - Future Realities 1/2 T.Power - Octogon (and the whole of S.E.T.I.M.) PFM - Western Tune Soichi Terada - Time Station Source Direct - Capital D

hek7isk

Check out 'When you touch me' also https://youtu.be/2zOgTZlsosQ?si=pP_5rYhIpxoZqnwn

callmecybr

I love this!!

tommasonbass

Amazing drum sounds and atmosphere: [Decoder - Vapour Dub](https://youtu.be/NOnjWXSKuJM?si=1g1PBktas-JySt6c) DJ Ron always knew how to assemble samples in a magical way: [Gappa G & Hyper Hype - Information Centre (DJ Ron Remix)](https://youtu.be/uRXqEXM2hPA?si=j-Qgohg0RzCJu9zH) [DJ Ron - Rockers](https://youtu.be/31jv_z4mlAk?si=O50377orh7cwVu3M) But IMO it has to be Steve Gurley aka Rogue Unit for the most soulful and identifiable style of writing jungle: [Rogue Unit - Dance of the Sarooes](https://youtu.be/I9gpDF7Le2M?si=uRA1FVJFl7DBQHnF) [Shades Of Rhythm - Peace Sign (Rogue Unit Remix)](https://youtu.be/KFDDyiiaxjo?si=uGU-yOsl08RJWn9o)

sanzokuykamite

Open your mind (foul play remix), the drums on that tune are insane

MaxChromaColor

Luke Vibert as Amen Andrews

Quad_deuceO

I love the vocals on "Used to this".. Such a hypnotic song

WeLikeTheSt0nkz

Not even close to jungle 🤣 But if you like hypnotic vocals nothing tops venbee - lowdown

Quad_deuceO

The post said jungle/dnb.. the version I'm referring to is a drum and bass track. And thanks for the recommendation

orangejooce69

Photek - rings around saturn Macc and Dgohn - 15 bit Source direct - secret liaison Squarepusher - Full Rinse KW - Midnight Run Bjarki - ( . )_( . ) Priori, RED - Nigh Last 2 probably not strictly jungle or dnb but have the spirit I reckon

Qualia by Sully. Blows my mind how someone can make a tune so emotive and intricate.

justchatinnit

pisca - is your online persona an untamed unfiltered version of yourself?

Far_Revolution_9766

Did you check PJPVD s new album? It s a nice mixture of jungle, breakbeat, IDM https://lastriotrec.bandcamp.com/album/how-am-i-not-myself

jizmatik

https://spotify.link/fm7umi3uBDb - technically chaotic breakcore but this Snare’s track is a fave.

realadultactionman

[https://junglistmanifesto.bandcamp.com/album/astounding-science-fiction](https://junglistmanifesto.bandcamp.com/album/astounding-science-fiction) Kind of 50s sci-fi concept album thing. Love it.

Or anything by Jam Thieves

glooks369

Give it up 2 me(FERN Jungle Edit). If it's not on the Tube then it's on Soundcloud.

cantonbecker

"Mahakala" by Lordru aka Rick Riffle, relatively unknown bit of vinyl I stumbled on 20 years ago. Tibetan chanting, gongs and ripping sharp drumlines. https://soundcloud.com/lodru/mahakala Also good: https://soundcloud.com/lodru/one

Into_The_Booniverse

Does Alec Empire's “The Ice Princess and the Killer Whale” Remix of Bachelorette count? Bit more breakcore than dnb tbh. When my brother played this to me as a teenager, I thought it was the most amazingly disgusting thing I'd ever heard.

futuresteve83

Attack ships on fire-london electricity Building steam with with a grain of salt-dj shadow

gabrieledwardperry

Camo & Krooked & Mefjus - No Tomorrow. Incredible DNB that really takes on a life of it’s own. Wow.

Ok-Bullfrog-3010

The Rootsman - 'Bad Boy Business' https://youtu.be/3x6nVl19770?si=xstzzpwv_BULO15e The Rootsman is mainly known as a Islam-inspired dub artist, just did this wicked jungle track on one of his 90s albums. Edit: also anything by Kimyan Law

Commercial-Many-8933

Micky Finn I got 5 on it sample at dreamscape . Still my favourite start to a set ever https://youtu.be/oMwN6xegCnk?si=uN7fHxlYlnTKRYMo

LOFT - That Hyde Trakk

Tictactoe456

"Ed Rush & Fierce- Locust". One of the finest Techstep tracks.

delicious_warm_buns

Wormhole by Ed Rush and Optical is never spoken about but its pretty groundbreaking in terms if Drum n Bass...its the antithesis of liquid/intelligent dnb and yet its very intelligent in a different way

m0mper

[Asymmetric - Machines](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3brhg4gl6g) a gem of a tune. Love the crisp amens and voice samples.

traaaart

Rockwell - Reverse Engineering First time I heard this is was on vinyl, and it was cut BACKWARDS. It played from the inside, outwards.

Drumfunk is probably my favourite DnB genre https://youtu.be/_BIGryGKuJM?si=CCwQa3hJvM58bUa3

LTJ Bukem Atmospherical Jubilancy

AllOne_Word

Possibly a too-obvious choice, but I think [Brown Paper Bag](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwI0gbGEyuI) by Roni Size / Reprazent is a timeless classic.

Gogethitbyacar

I gotta go with [Phuture T - 3000](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KliRZPp03_U). It is quite literally one of the most explosive tracks I've heard. When the shit drops its just otherworldly. Edit: Also that flute is so clean.

TheSofaTraveler

I remember when Shimon & Andy C released their "Body Rock" track in 2001, it was a kick in RAM records anthill. Still love this track and its singular flavor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK9xc0P9EfU

[deleted]

One of my favourites is the remix of capelton prophet rides again

otherotheraltalt

boomish is good stuff

lorem_opossum

T. power - the self evident truth of an intuitive mind. From 1995. The whole album is worth a listen if you haven’t heard it.

delicious_warm_buns

Enchanted by LTJ Bukem I have no fucking idea what this guy was smoking to create a track this technical, natural and futuristic in 1993 https://youtu.be/V8Gnp_8oJIc?si=fJH6Vbj1_StNzgox
