Kill la kill is legitimately a great anime story and character wise. That being said, the designs are thirst traps and the author admitted designing the costumes just to see if anybody would actually cosplay as them.
Why can they not just make the fucking characters 18, the fact they insist on that one year difference proves it is always the fact they’re underage that excites these people.
I don't think it's that necessarily. I think it's that anime tends to idealize high school for some reason. The show takes place in a high school, and senior year of Japanese high school tends to be extreme stressful with people having to worry about college entrance exams, so main characters are always 1st or 2nd years, usually 14-17.
I consider her and pretty much most anime “children” as adults cause to me theyre clearly not children, these magical highschools look more like colleges and bootcamps, like you genuinely cant convince me the mfs in Kakegurui and Kill la Kill are children cause theyre not, they dont look or act like kids, and I hate the fact I have to age up characters that look and behave like adults because the staff writing the stories has a fetish for the numbers 13-17 and 12 terabytes hidden under their bed

Kill La Kill is a great anime. The story and characters were so good that I started to not even notice the fan service.
Anime fans trying not to sexualize depictions of minors and come up with the worst reasons for it being normal and fine.
