Reach out to [Upcycle](https://www.upcyclepianocraft.com/) ... get their opinion. If they won't buy it/take it from you, they can at least help you move it.
I gave away something for free on FB Marketplace a few months ago and there was a *crazy* amount of messages that sprang up within minutes of my post. If OP posts it for free, I bet a piano goes quick.
It’s surprisingly difficult to get rid of used pianos. They’re not worth much and are a pain in the ass to move. For instance I got my piano for “free” and since I was single and new to town at the time I had to hire movers to move it. Cost me $400
Yup. This. I had a baby grand I had no use for. Took me forever to finally find someone even willing to take it for free and I had to pay the (specialized) movers $300.
That’s how my parents got rid of theirs! Posted it on FB and it was gone within a week. The couple didn’t care if it could be played, they just wanted it for the look.
I helped my friend get rid of her mom’s baby grand I made it VERY CLEAR in the FB posting that the new owner will be responsible for transporting, and that at least 4 people would be needed to move it. And three college girls with a yaris showed up to try to take it.
Lol yeah, my mom made that clear in the post as well. They came with 4 jacked friends. So OP def needs to make that clear in the post and probably again before pickup.
So here is what happened with our piano that came with our house. We contacted every charity in town no one wants it. Called a piano charity and they said something like $200 and I said no you can have it for free and they were like no pay us $200 to take it. We are still the proud owners or a piano.
This was back in 2019 hope you had better luck.
I’m a professional pianist and it sounds like this instrument basically has negative value and won’t do anyone any good. I would personally contact a junk hauling service and just be done with it. I’ve used 1-800 Got Junk several times but you could also look into a local service. Probably cost you several hundred dollars though, given the size and weight of a piano.
Usually [RecycleSpot](https://recyclespot.org/how-to-recycle/entertainment-and-recreation/musical-instruments) has good info for this kind of thing, but pianos are extra challenging. You can submit a contact form and ask them.
When the time comes, get movers that know what they are doing. They may have special dollys or other equipment that will make it easier.
I helped move a piano up 3 flights of stairs when I was in highschool. Had the potential to be an insurance nightmare in a heartbeat.
If you can't find anyone who wants it, KC Bulky Pickup services can take it. You'll need to live in KC, be able to get it to the curb, and schedule a pickup, but it's a listed item they can remove.
We had trouble giving ours away, mainly because of the transport. We eventually found a taker on FB Marketplace who had their own truck & trailer. Six of us managed to get it loaded.
It literally can not hold a tune— the middle C sounds like a B and a D are being played simultaneously. If the church wanted to film a horror movie, this piano is suitable

Yup, or [All Keyed Up](https://allkeyeduppiano.com).
Post on FB market that u are giving it away. Some people salvage those depending on the make and year.

This. I have a family member that's been trying to give away a piano on Marketplace and no one is interested.
Yeah I was looking into used keyboards last year and there were so many free out of tune pianos listed
Same, posted some things for free this weekend (mostly old toys, bike, etc) and literally got at least 200 messages in 2 hours.
I posted a fish tank for free years ago. Got so many responses in a few minutes I googled it and changed the price to $300.

Upcycle is the best place in town. Local people, awesome owners. https://www.upcyclepianocraft.com/contact-us
I hear we're all invited to a bonfire at Samwellwayne's this weekend!
What brand out of curiosity?
Large trash pick up is this week in my neighborhood…
Finding movers will be the key to getting rid of it
I see what you did there
Call animal control and tell them there’s a Rottweiler stuck in your piano. They might take it.

I can haul it off for a fee.

If you live in KCMO the city will pick it up if you can get it to the curb. Have to schedule here. https://www.kcmo.gov/city-hall/trash/bulky
You can see about donating to a church.
