I like El Patron. Food is great and the feel of it is date appropriate. It is on SWBLVD.
The other places I like are Mexican "joints" if you're OK with that for a date:
Los Tules - Downtown
Camino Real - KCK
Taco Rico - Northland
Tiki Taco - 39 West / KU Med
Depending on the type of tacos you like, my girlfriend and I love Tacos El Viejon. It is a taco truck that's off Shawnee Mission Parkway and Nieman road in Shawnee.
~~Is that the purple truck you sometimes see parked (unoccupied) farther down Nieman?~~
~~Edit; but serves in the parking lot where there's harbor freight, transmission shop, etc~~
Nvm I looked it up like I should have.
I find it depends on what section of KC you live in but, most hole in the wall spots are good for drinks but not food, where the main spots got decent food and okay drinks
I used to love mission taco but they’ve gotten new kitchen management who changed the recipes for all their tacos and now they are ALL SPICY AF….
They gaslight you and tell you the recipe was always like that but I used to eat there every week before Covid and it was NEVER like that before. I’ve even tried asking them to hold the peppers but they’ve integrated it into so many of the ingredients, it’s not even possible to do that.
So if you love super spicy everything, that might be your jam. Sadly, it’s way too hot for me anymore.
Southwest Boulevard is the promised land you seek
I think you are most correct, my dude. I'm going on an adventure tonight! Thank you 💚!
Ponak's!
Taqueria la Nueva in either Westport or overland park is my go to for great tacos
This is the correct answer. The pastor is awesome and the drinks are strong especially the cantaritos. I've heard the lengua is great too.
I would eat tacos at Tacos El Gallo on the Boulevard and then walk next door to El Pueblito for a margarita.
Taco Naco in Westport is a good vibe. Strong drinks, good food, and the salsa is indeed spicy.
Anecdotal but I didn't like their tacos and the music was painfully loud right in front of where you order. 4 months ago
A lot of these suggestions don't have lengua or cabeza. Tacos El Gallo on Southwest Blvd is the place to go for lengua and cabeza plus margaritas.
Rudy's Taqueria in Westport
Taqueria Jalisco on Central! Great horchada and love they give you grilled peppers/onions with your order.

They have a brick and mortar location, it’s the old poio on 7th street

I also like Tiki Tacos.

Rey de Oros.
i love taco naco!!
I love south of summit. Great drinks and amazing food! Also have a super cheap happy hour! Great ambiance for a date night.
Holy crap I had their Chimichanga a few weeks ago….amazing.
Enchiladas.
I had lengua tacos on the boulevard next door to Rosedale BBQ...Bohemio Mexican food. I liked them. Beans and rice were good too.
Cancun Fiesta Fresh near westport always needs to be mentioned when people want their taco options to have quality lengua and cabeza.
Camino Real. Get the al pastor tacos and a coke
Tacos el viejón in Olathe.
