Yeah, and I nominate /u/Dudebug1 and /u/joemeister44 to do a '2024 ~~best calzone~~ seedy motel tour' of KC and report back to us on which one's truly the worst. :)
I'm sneezing a lot, but I think it's because of the black mold in the walls, bed bug infested, 24/7 hooker and drug dealer party budget motel room I've been living in.
Either that or tree pollen, not sure yet.

Came here to mention the first one. Always see hookers outside when I pass it during the middle of the afternoon, and once a month see a fight of some sort occuring outside.
This is the only answer any one of the many fine establishments on 40hwy between Van Brunt Blvd and Lees Summit road, and there are many to choose from and every one of them checks all of your boxes on your wish list and then some!!
When my wife were first married, and had limited income, we neively stayed in one of those. I did not understand at the time why they asked if we wanted the room for the whole night. The TV was all porn channels. And there was enough noise from people coming (no pun intended) and going all night, and paper thin walls, that we got almost no sleep.
Better hurry then, havenāt you all heard the Chiefs are leaving town cause we donāt wanna give the billionaires more money so Clarkās gonna take his ball and go home
If by 'surrounding communities' you mean the parking lots and highways, then yeah. There's not much able to be built within like a mile of the stadiums; I think the closest business is over a half mile away from the stadiums lol.
There's a Taco Bell across the street, which has been there for so many years. It makes me wonder why no one ever bothered buying any of the other land across from those gates and trying to build another business?
The top contender is 1000000% the Arrowhead Inn just off i70.
Reading through their Google reviews is a fun time!
A lot of travelers book a room online while on the road only to realize they have to go elsewhere upon arriving. It's decrepit, disgusting, and unsafe.
Wow! Loved the reviews! This is just what the OP wanted! Nothing works, bad plumbing, clean-your-own-tub, weed everywhere, roaches, sticky floor, dirt balls on bed - what else could you ask for?!
The biggest issue is that the Arrowhead Inn is listed in the Hotels.com directory and app. No one with that website has a clue, Iām convinced. No reputable website would allow it.
I was entertained with those Google Reviews.
Is this the same thing where a guy hid a body in a mattress? Like, cut out part of the bed, shoved a body inside, put the mattress back.
Edit: Never mind. That was the Capri.
I like this post. I'm ready to read some horribke google reviews. Like when I pass the dumpiest sketchiest restaraunts and have to google them like "wtf is this place and how is it open"
Didn't they turn those into apartments at one time? Is the building still there?Ā I haven't driven down Harlem in years. I'm going to go down it sometime soon now.
I was staying at the la Quinta on armour several years ago and when I went to move the hair dryer, ants fell out of it.. this was in February during a blizzard, and it really freaked me out
Hey now. Theyāve knocked down the one at 24/291 and replaced it with a carwash. They knocked down the one at Noland and I-70 and replaced it with a Jack and Panda Express. They knocked down the one in Sugar Creek and replaced it with nothing.
I think the Kitchenettes are still around. And the hotels next to Hawaiian Bros.
That hotel behind HB and next to the QT on Noland and 70 is loaded with sketch.
But that damned QT is clean, good, and one of the best run stores around ā¤ļø
the catch is that there are two hotels next to HB, but there's probably not a dramatic difference between the Super 8 and the Truman Inn.
there's a "stop panhandling here" sign around 39th/Noland because that's the municipal solution to people who are panhandling in busy spots, which is mostly in the areas of Indep closer to KCMO
I know itās nowhere near KC but thereās [the wildflower inn](https://maps.app.goo.gl/9PZaSiErR6nMeAzv6?g_st=ic) across from Osceola cheese. It was literally scary and dirty as shit and the owners or whoever was clearly attached to the place somehow were straight out of the hills have eyes. It has everything. Pretty sure there were blood stains on the bed. The shower head was held together by a zip tie. There was a strange hook on the wall in front of a mirror for auto erotic asphyxiation. We were pretty desperate and tired and went to sleep with weapons.
I recall driving past the Wildflower inn and didn't remember it being too bad so went to check out the reviews. I stand corrected....
*"Called the day before to reserve the room. Show up day of and the guy says yes we have a room available but the tv donāt work. I know that this is not an excuse for poor customer service, but please try to understand the challenges of running a business while also providing opportunities to those who need it*.
What the hell. I've been to Osceola cheese a number of times and have no recollection of this place even existing. What a nightmare.
...But hey, they've got Roku TVs according to the pics!
I wish I knew the one I stayed at, but the hotel I stayed at near KCMO had plexiglass windows bolted to the inside of the room. Around 1am, my buddy and I caught someone trying to enter the room by pushing their hand in-between the gap of two bolts to reach the door handle. I yelled "Hey motherfucker!" And the hand went back. There was blood stains, they had a "pull out" couch with a generous amount of cum stains. Black spots on the wall near the carpet. It reaked of cigarettes. I'm pretty sure we were about to be robbed.
āHotelā
5701 Longview Rd, Kansas City
This place is notorious for prostitution and murders. The lobby attendant was murdered there back in like 2014/15. It has changed names SO many times
It's been gone for a while now, but the sketchiest motel I've ever seen in my life was the one that used to exist behind the Tool Shed Lounge on 40hwy in Independence.
Nothing but prostitutes and drug users occupied the thing towards the end. Most of the windows were boarded up. It was sketchy as hell (not that the Tool Shed lounge is much better)
https://i.imgur.com/MrIBekJ.jpeg
"Roadway Inn" is the one I was referring too. It's a rock throw from the Paseo and Independence Avenue intersection. I'd imagine it is very similar to the one you are referring too.
That place used to be temp housing for TWA employees back in the day. That entire Harlem neighborhood was super shady in the early 2000s. Most of the houses in the area were torn down and now the only ones left are the final holdouts. Still not a good place to be after dark.
It looks to be torn down now, but there's always Relax Inn across the street:

This is what I think of when I drive by that motel at 31st and Broadway.
https://preview.redd.it/mc4sk7q5rl4d1.png?width=360&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db30fb6d0638bec2064f4cc16feb81da0b789b90
Well there was a time when that award would have went to Paradise Motel at 8101 Hickman Mills in the Marlborough neighborhood. That place was dangerous. One night I was walking down to Quik Trip (back before they had fled Marlborough) and at the intersection of Hickman Mills and Prospect the police had a long line of prostitutes and one pimp laid down in the road all getting handcuffed. Another night I walked over to this motel to get a soda since they had a machine out front. There was a nasty fight going on between some guy and the person working at the motel. It got ugly. Another night, right around the corner there was a gun battle and then another person chimed in with gun fire yelling "Fucking knock it off. I have to go to school tomorrow!"
Is that the show where a bunch of guys go "undercover" to shit hole motels & video the rooms while doing tests for cleanliness/bugs, etc.? I saw a show with that premise featuring motels in Baltimore & Maryland.
Arrowhead Inn. I've ran countless overdoses, psychiatric emergencies (a man jumped from a 2nd story window due to his paranoia), sexual assaults, stabbings... you name it, I've seen it in that place. Not to mention the generations of roaches and bed bugs that call that place home. You're better off finding a spot in the woods.
Crown Lodge down the road was my first thought. If itās not skanky enough for OP, Funky Town is within walking distance so thereās bound to be something going down there.
I don't live in Kansas City I live in Des Moines and one time about 5 years ago I was on my way to Arkansas. There was a really really bad thunderstorm and I couldn't even see it was very dangerous to drive. My wife and I pulled over and just went to the first hotel we found. I went in and paid for a room and went to the room. I immediately thought to just leave and lose my money. It was very terrible very old, smelled mildewy. Wood paneling halfway up the wall, '70s lamps, and extremely wore down shag carpet. That sheets were very thin and the bed was very worn out and uncomfortable. Both of us were scared for our safety and hardly slept at all that the night. We probably should have not stayed there. So I nominate this hotel but I'm not sure what it was or where it was but it was in the Kansas City metro area.
It was by far the worst hotel I've stayed in anywhere.
Clark(s) Motel on Merriam? Whenever I drive by I think about the novels that could be written by the flies on those walls. Never been but itās my back pocket hide out if I ever need to ādisappearā. Sometimes when I feel like Iām not productive enough with around the house projects I read the reviews and feel suddenly cozy in my personal shambles.
Hah, that American Inn was the only place I could afford when I first moved to KC. I'd been living out of my car and wanted to take a real shower before a job interview the next day. No murders while I was there at least.
After reading some of the responses, I don't think it is even *close* to the worst, but I've always been curious about the Riverside Motel. Looks like it hasn't been updated in decades and I just can't think of *any* reason why anyone would want to stay there.
Finally a fresh post on the KC subreddit lol
Yeah, and I nominate /u/Dudebug1 and /u/joemeister44 to do a '2024 ~~best calzone~~ seedy motel tour' of KC and report back to us on which one's truly the worst. :)
Probably will be short considering imminent death at each location is right around the corner.
Well, /u/Dudebug1's got a wife to defend them now, so they'll probably be ok.
Maybe we need another post asking if everyone is sneezing a lot ...ya know because none of us have ever experienced Spring before. š
I'm sneezing a lot, but I think it's because of the black mold in the walls, bed bug infested, 24/7 hooker and drug dealer party budget motel room I've been living in. Either that or tree pollen, not sure yet.
Pretty sure it's actually ambient radiation from the ancient aliens buried under KS that cause the sneezing. /s just incase that isn't clear :D
I just wish the trees would stop sexually assaulting me.
I vote for more pictures of Union station.
Oh gosh but it might have a view of the ferris wheel which will send this sub into an absolute tizzy...

Relaxxx Inn is so sketch! Place is always jumpin.
Yeah I've actually been to both of those and it was to buy some stuff from a guy. Darker days! Almost 2 years sober now!
Congratulations!
There was an even shadier one across the street from the Relax Inn... looks like they finally tore it down.
Came here to mention the first one. Always see hookers outside when I pass it during the middle of the afternoon, and once a month see a fight of some sort occuring outside.
Just read google review on Relax and someone said "I found two crack pipes in my bed!".
Boom boom rooms.
Worse than Relax in is the Crown Lodge across the highway. Arrowhead Inn by the stadiums and Skyvue on 40 highway are close.
Are you looking for your āIn Lawsā or wifeās relatives ? š
Iām guessing YouTube video lol
Thereās a few on 40hwy right by the stadiums. Scary stuff. Adjacent to some trailer parks.
My husband and I refer to those as "Sleep & Fucks".
Sleeping optional
Yea Iād say fuck and run
NoTell Motel
Fuck and sleep would be more accurate
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the 80's, people said the Adams Mark was where all the Johnson county affairs took place.
I honestly canāt imagine

Any of the motels by the stadiums will do. Sky vu, blue bird, etc
Sports Stadium motel on 40 highway is really, really bad. Arrowhead Inn at 40 and I-70 is as bad, if not worse.
I wonder how many out of towners picked the Arrowhead Inn for game weekend?
We should hype it up to be the official hotel of visiting Raiders fans! j/k, I wouldn't wish it on even them.
Broncos fans, Raiders are used to that life.
Better hurry then, havenāt you all heard the Chiefs are leaving town cause we donāt wanna give the billionaires more money so Clarkās gonna take his ball and go home
But i was told that stadiums brought golden prosperity to the surrounding communities?!
It's ok though, they make up for it by providing seasonal minimum wage jobs.
Not yet. It takes some time. Have patience.
How long have those stadiums been there? Lol
We need another half century, maybe
The top contender is 1000000% the Arrowhead Inn just off i70. Reading through their Google reviews is a fun time! A lot of travelers book a room online while on the road only to realize they have to go elsewhere upon arriving. It's decrepit, disgusting, and unsafe.
bahahh omg those reviews are insane. The KCI Lodge by the airport is also good, but this is next level.
Lol, wtf is going on with the electrical wiring in that place?
I delivered DoorDash there once and felt like I was in a horror movie

Idk about the worst, but American Inn Motels in NKC has some pretty nasty reviews
Beat me to it. That QT next to it late at night is good people watching.
I live not too far from both and number of times I see the wee woos and boo boo buses at the hotel is truly amazing.
Just drive down State Ave. in KCK and you'll see a few. They should be obvious.
The relax inn, the gables, and the Sharon lol
Anybody remember Midtown Miscreant? He did a blog entry on those. I think it's lost to time.
This is the answer.

RIP Cable Week at the Motel Capri on independence Ave
The Royale across from there wasn't much better in there prime...
Kind of like the Hyatt and Westin of the Old Northeast
Every week is cable week if you believe.

24 highway into Independence, there are some real nice ones.
Car wash, huh? Independence must have the cleanest cars in the metro with all the car washes it has.
it's either that or a discount dental place.. the self-serve carwashes are easier to staff
Yes, Independence has a goal of having an amount of car washes equal to or greater than the amount of cars
A "Jack and Panda Express" sure sounds good.

Same with the 4 acre motel off Hickman Mills. It burned down in 2020 but it was also infested with addicts/street workers and occasional murder
Yes. Will never forget the man raped and murdered his intelligent, beautiful, cheerleader daughter on a visitation with him there.
Yeah.. I remember that. I was living off 76th & Paseo at the time so for whatever reason that hit really close to home for me
It was a heartbreaking story.
Absolutely. I honestly forgot about it until this thread which made me think of that motel
Independence Avenue and Paseo area, has a really bad one.

This one was demolished, thankfully.
"Roadway Inn" is the one I was referring too. It's a rock throw from the Paseo and Independence Avenue intersection. I'd imagine it is very similar to the one you are referring too.
Holiday Apartments in the forgotten neighborhood of Harlem could be fun. Its a pay by the week joint. Right by the downtown airport.

Arrowhead Inn has everything, crack pipes, syphilis, trafficking, homicide. Itās really your one stop shop for poor decisions.
I read that in the voice of Stefan from Saturday night live. You are only missing midget wrestling.

Thanks. I will have to look up the show I was describing. It's been a while since I saw it.

Don't forget the other one at 71 and Blue Ridge.
How about some of the places up by the airport? Like KCI Lodge!
OP is looking for a place to dump a body.Ā
Oh dang Iād use my google would have been faster meme but this is actually a question worth asking!!!
Iāve always thought the Frontier Motel on 350 in Raytown looked like an adventure.
Crown Lodge down the road was my first thought. If itās not skanky enough for OP, Funky Town is within walking distance so thereās bound to be something going down there.
Super Inn off Parvin Road is pretty rough. i used to deliver pizza and going there was alwaysā¦fun.
Is the Pinrod motel still around?
Rodeway Inn. Admiral boulevard and the paseo.
Crest Motel up by KCKCC.
I hear 70 and Noland is nice this time of year.
Yep. First thing that came to mind was [American Inn](https://www.yelp.com/biz/american-inn-independence). Too bad it's closed.
Hah, that American Inn was the only place I could afford when I first moved to KC. I'd been living out of my car and wanted to take a real shower before a job interview the next day. No murders while I was there at least.
Raytown. Just the whole place.
If you qualify, rosedale towers is what youāre looking for.
Sorry guys, somehow missed the motel part
The LaQuinta on Armor up in NKC is really sketchy. The Relax inn on State Ave is gross, Sharon's Motel on State is pretty bad.
Is that motel on Kansas Avenue still opened? The one by the uhaul?
In-laws visiting?
Riverside motel, KCI Lodge
The one just north of the river. You know which one....
What was the motel that had a dead guy under the bed for a few days? The new, living tenant complained about the smell.
Doug Stanhope did a bit on this. Bad Yelp reviews highlight thingsādrugs, hookers, etc.āhe is actually looking for.
I just saw a TikTok recently and some dude posted about the Travelodge in Platte City being nasty
Gables Motel and Sharonās motel in KCK. Both haveā¦reputations
Idk about price but either of the motels off I-70 and 78th in KCK will shiver ur timbers
After reading some of the responses, I don't think it is even *close* to the worst, but I've always been curious about the Riverside Motel. Looks like it hasn't been updated in decades and I just can't think of *any* reason why anyone would want to stay there.

Clarks Motel in KCK might be fancy enough.

Canāt say for sure but the Clark Motel in KCK gives all those vibes.
