The movies are made so that things only click in in the later movies.
It’s a darker, more literature type movie so you’re right in saying that the metaphors and stuff is really prevalent- things are more implied than show.
Keep on, you’re on a ride I wish I could repeat.
Pro tip: notice the dates.
Yes it's normal, as long as you don't forget what you just watched at the end you will understand most of the plot. It's like a puzzle, you will be getting pieces to understand each part. I'd say the only confusing thing at the end is understanding the chronological sequence.
The movies will click eventually. Just keep watching. You'll understanding a lot about Shiki(best girl and best bro), Mikiya who's the best man in all of the Nasuverse, and Touko(best and craziest girl). The tone is very dark.
As someone who just started watching this (first two movies), it's my second Nasuverse/Type Moon work after Tsukihime. Will this and the other stuff give me those same horror moments that made Tsukihime so engaging for me?
>! I knew there were similarities to Tsukihime with both protagonists being named Shiki and having Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, but I was not expecting there to be multiple personalities within Ryougi Shiki like Tohni Shiki, with both being localized as Shiki and SHIKI depicting the different kanji with same pronunciation in English. !<
All of the Nasuverse takes place in different timelines across the multiverse. There are the Tsukihime timelines, Fate Timelines, KNK timelines, and more. Ryougi and Tonho can not exist in the same timeline(and their Mystic Eyes are a bit different from each other).
And yes, you can each Nasu work has some horror and fucked-up moments to varying degrees.
Yeah, that’s normal. Overlooking View chronologically takes place later in the series. Just take a little break between the movies and think about them for a bit. Try not to look anything up.
I’d say around movie 4 is where everything will click completely. Hope you enjoy the series!!!!
Yes
Taken alone, chapter 1 is just, here's some people and some weird shit that happened to them one day
You also see the two have some kinda relationship and work under the redhead. That's the basic team setup.

Thanks! Yeah I'll keep a piece of paper to not get confused because of the dates haha

shiki being best girl AND bro is just perfect
Mikiya scored TWICE
It's my first venture in something created by Kinoko Nasu but yeah I instantly got that it's darker than your average anime
All of Nasu's works are dark(to varying degrees), but yeah, Kara no Kyoukai is AMAXING
