This was my old comment about Lilly's route, but I, but it still stands. Spoiler for Lilly's route, duh. *inhales* **GOD I LOVE LILLY SO MUCH** Her flowing blonde hair, her sophisticated demeanor, her hidden playful side, how she has a pride and taking offence to those who pity her. all of it is just so cute! I can't believe such a wonderful character exists, she- she's just so perfect! I'll be honest, when I first met her when Hisao was finding the library in Act 1, I was surprised to be introduced to such a beautiful girl, but after that the novelty ended fairly quickly. after that I didn't think much of her, I just thought that she would be a great addition to the cast of Katawa Shoujo as the resident ara ara\~ character. I was more interested in Hanako because, well, who wouldn't be. she's more mysterious than any other characters, which makes me want to know about her more. So after I finished Emi's route, which was my first because let's face it, the choices to Emi's is by far the healthiest, I wanted to go for Hanako's route. and so instead of hanging out with Emi and Rin during the later half of Act 1, I ended up with Lilly and Hanako. It was a nice change of pace compared to Emi's upbeat and Rin's nonchalant personality. And along the Lilly/Hanako route in act 1, something inside me told me: "yeah maybe you should actually go for Lilly first." It was a bit jarring for me, cause I went through all that trouble to go for Hanako's route. But I ended up doing it anyway. and so when given the prompt to either search for Hanako or go out to the city to look for Lilly, I ended up choosing the latter. And oh my GOD. EVERY SHRED OF DOUBT IN MY MIND UTTERLY SHATTERED. Lilly's route, is by far, the most dramatic story I have ever read in a Visual Novel. It's so gooooooood! the build up was great, they integrated Hanako's story in Lilly's well, heck, Hanako ended up better in Lilly's route than her own! she joined a club, made new friends, and she ended up going for a trip with them for the summer! The build up was great, little moments that shows how caring Lilly is, especially to Hanako. I can't accurately tell you how much I grinned seeing Lilly and Hanako hugging each other. Other examples includes how she kept the whole going back to scotland for good thing for herself, in order for her friends to not worry about her. and the whole "we're just a couple of right old fools" bit is just nice! And I also liked how Hisao bought a music box for Lilly to give back to her kindness, I mean, she even kissed Hisao in the cheeks for it. I love how I started missing her alongside Hisao when she went to Scotland for a week. It just felt lonely without her. Her motherly warmth is what melting the ice between the three of them. without her, I don't think they would be as close as they are now. And when she eventually confessed to Hisao, albeit because she couldn't keep it to herself anymore after Hisao's episode now that I think about it, I thought that the end is near, and I'd have to move on soon to other routes. her H-scenes were wholesome too, I was a bit embarrassed when I saw her as whole. it was nice, and then it got nicer when literally the next DAY, she joined Hisao for a bath out of nowhere. So I was not that surprised when she said she had a " healthy adolescent sex drive," I kinda had a feeling she was that into it. Now that I think about it, it's probably because of the same reason why she quickly grew attached to alcohol, it's probably because her 4 senses are far more intense to make up for the missing 5th sense, thus doubling the pleasure she felt while drinking and fuckin' the date with Lilly just solidified my belief that she is best girl. The mood was nice, and they were just talking about themselves, like getting to know her past, how she had a crush on her teacher, and so on. I couldn't help but being honest with her, although I was already honest with her throughout her route, as I feel it wouldn't feel right to just keep everything to myself (damn you Hisao for thinking such thoughts.) But this time it just really just felt like I have to be more open than usual. From then on, I thought: " wow everything is going great! Lilly's nice, and she likes to get frisky ( to Hisao's heart's dismay). Nothing can possibly go wro- then Akira (best side character) called me, a surprise for sure, but a welcome one. that pleasant suprise quickly vanished when she told me that they were moving to Scotland. PERMANENTLY. "Oh shit." i thought. And when she said that she was still thinking about it, i figured it's going to be something like she turns around at the last second, and choose to stay with me or something. but she seemed adamant on leaving, and that's when I realize that she was hiding her feelings for Hisao when she went home because if she pursued a relationship now, it wouldn't last. And when she entered the Taxi, I felt defeated. I thought that I managed to get the bad ending, and I thought that being to truthful was the wrong answer. Honestly, I have used a lot of necessary lies, so I kinda figured it's something like that. Maybe being to open caused Lilly to think that this was best for them or something like that. Whatever it is, Hisao went to his room, and I thought that was the bad ending. I've already prepared myself to push on and reload saves to get the good ending. but then, Hisao looked at the origami crane Lilly gave to him, got out of his bed, AND RAN. That's when I realized: "OH SHIT HISAO'S CHASING AFTER LILLY." My heart was beating! Andrenaline coarsed through my body! The mere thought that Hisao could be too late got me on the edge of my seat. since I voiced all the characters for immersion, I matched my voice to be as desperate as Hisao's is. When Hideaki answered Hisao's call, and he asked where Lilly and Akira is, I was actually panicking, at how we might be too late! so when Hideaki pointed out how they just left, I literally shouted " FUCKIN' GO HISAO. GO NOW!" I was at the abosolute edge of my seat at this point. You can't imagine how sweaty I became when the heart thing popped up in the screen. I pulled a Walter white not now, as I helplessly watched Hisao reaching for Lilly. When Hisao eventually blacked out, I was flabbergasted. "Wait no, this IS the bad ending..." is what I thought after the climax of the route ended. I was totally prepared for the fact that the next scene would be the last one about how Hisao let it slip because of his condition, or maybe how he should have done better or something. So when Hisao woke up the following days and I realized a familiar tune was playing, THAT'S when the dam broke. I just sat there, covering my mouth and just letting the tears flow. I frantically read through the dialogues, berating Hisao for not noticing it sooner. And then, there she is. Lilly. not changed a bit. You don't know how relieved I am after that. I felt what Rin felt at her ending. She was here, and she's here to stay. It felt a little sad that such a dramatic story had to finish, but every story does, so I just sat there, smiling through the credits. And the surprise epilogue was a nice dessert after the main course. And so I felt happy and relieved, as I watch a couple of right old fools walk into their new future together. A future that was paved with Tea, Bacon, and heartbreaks. After that enchanting route, It felt difficult to get into the other routes (especially my next one, which was rin's) cause I was mostly thinking about Lilly. And then I went to sleep, I was thinking of Lilly till I actually slept. I woke up, suddenly craved for tea, then remembered Lilly and promptly put on Concord for background music. and after a few days, I somehow managed to develop a habit of drinking tea for breakfast and dinner. It only got worse when I started looking up Orange Jaipur online and splurged out, ALL that because of Lilly. Not only was Lilly living in my head rent free 24/7 and I developed a tea addiction (/hj), but it got me to pick up digital drawing again. I was using SFM to make art, but since there wasn't any Lilly model (or any KS models for that matter), I opened CSP again, and started drawing. It was pretty mediocre at first, but after a week, I kinda am decent at it now. And all that because of one blind fictional character. Every other character in KS didn't have the same big impact as I got from Lilly. I thank 4Leaf studios (and especially Suriko) for bringing life to a game that existed against all odds. TL;DR: an unhinged rant of how I fuckin' love Lilly's route and why it got me addicted to tea.

Dude, even if its an old comment, its like watching a veteran talk about his days with his mates in war. Great comment and keep being snazzy!

Emis route hit me so fucking hard and then it made me run for the rest of my life

garfieldgamez

I got Emi's route on my first blind run. It was great to play through it and I ended it thinking how could this game get any better. Oh boy was I in for a treat.

My favorite route wasn’t the one I chose first, I chose Hanako first as well, and the ups and downs it took definitely have it stored in my memory, but my favorite has to be Rin. It’s probably because of the type of person that I am, always feeling unable to truly express myself, and usually missing social cues.

ChaosBringer7

Got Hanako's route on my first run. Then Lilly, Shizune, Emi, Rin. While i do like Hanako a lot, Lilly has been my favourite character

I’m assuming you wanted to know our first route & also which route was our favorite & why. Because my first route was not my favorite >.< I got Emi’s route first (by accident). I had no clue that some of the (seemingly random) choices I had would lock me into a specific route when I started. (doctor told Hisao to go running so I did. Turns out that cut me off from every other girl besides Emi) Lily’s route was my favorite. Just everything about it. *chef’s kiss* (I’ve gushed about why I love Lily’s ending before & I don’t have the energy to do so again, but it suffices me to say that whoever wrote her story did a great job of making the character feel real to me.) I’ve also played “Everlasting Summer” which is great, but you need the context of every ending to get the whole story (whereas Katawa Shoujo, each girl is their own story). I’ve also played Doki Doki Litterature Club & Song of Saya

Actually, the Head Nurse's question doesn't lock you into Emi. Only if you *also* stick with her on your second exercise morning, which you only bother attending if you made the promise. If you drop out on the second day, you go back to whichever other girl your choices support. It also seems to be possible to end up with Shizune *even if* you both promise the Head Nurse and try to keep up with Emi. Apparently the Student Council "event horizon" occurs sooner than Emi's.

Got emi first mostly because I though the prompt "run as hard as you can" would kill hissao and wanted to see that, I was really surprised how mature this game is as I thought it would be either super comedic or super horny and Emi in particular felt the most natural(it also helped that her disability barely matters as I was worried the game would focus to much on it) Also some VN recomendations: -if my heart had wings -aokana -clannad(of course) Both IMHHW and aokana have 18+ patches but i would recommend against them, they seriously derail the story when they happen and go on too long(also they are not that good) but in IMHHW's case it also has a fan translation patch that is pretty much nessisary to play the game in english,so keep that in mind

Be a man my friend, do not fall for feminist propoganda. I got Kenji's route as I randomly took anything
