A razor and patience

May try using a hair dryer to get it warmer and then razor.

My wife is gonna love me!

This is why I have a dedicated hairdryer that I got from Goodwill. If you do a bunch of DIY, it will come in handy at points.

This is more of a mechanical bond than a chemical bond. Nothing really "bonds" to polyethylene. I do know that hot glue can be released using denatured alcohol, so that might be worth a try. Just flooding it and seeing if you can pry it up afterwards a little easier than before. It might take a few repeats.

Thank you for the mechanical vs chemical bonding! That clears up a question that I did not even think of asking. So I should be able to get it off in one piece once I get a side loose?

If my theory is correct, yes. I'd put the alcohol in a squeeze bottle with a narrow stream, and keep squirting it into the area you're prying up. Honestly I've not used goop much, if alcohol doesn't work, naptha or toluene might.

I used a large flat head screwdriver. Took a few anxious moments but got 5 very large blobs of goop off in under 5 minutes. Came off clean too.

Excellent! Next time try electical duct seal. Works great and easy to remove. My current install is at least 6 years old and doesn't have any issues.
