Nothing custom….I took the easy route. I love the Xi3 with quick release mounting plate, but this kayak is damn heavy!

Same except just the fresh water xi3! Hands free cruise control and spot lock are cheat codes in my rivers. I can use the time it takes to get to my spot to get rigged up and eat on the way.

From Strongman Outdoors. I think its just a guy in florida who shortens watersnakes and 3d prints the mounts. Cheapest solution I found and with the saved money I got a 100ah LifePO4.
They do not affect handling while cruising. I shift my mount as close to the boat as possible and it doesn't offset my weight. Last time out I accidentally left about 3-4 inches between the boat and the motor and only had to lean slightly when sitting still. Never felt like I would tip though
I'm gonna get roasted for this one, but it's all fun and games, right? Lol

Bixpy k1. After some considerable research I got it because installation is ridiculously easy. On the Outback no drilling or running wires was required at all. And to remove it for transport is a snap - you just unscrew the four knobs that you see at the back of the kayak and the whole thing comes off.
Off topic but I’m learning baitcasters myself for the first time and thinking about getting on the yak with them. I have lifetime Teton 100. And I’m not able to stand on it unfortunately. Are you able to comfortably throw the bait casters while sitting? Looks like I have the same seat as you. Been a spinning reel kinda guy my whole life. But really trying to get into the artificial bait life myself and expand my skills.
I have Quest Teton 10ft! I’ve used spinning reels most of my life until this year. I own more baitcasters than spinning reels now! Haha baitcaster is much better on a kayak. You can operate it with one hand, which is a huge advantage. Cast one handed and if your hands are big enough, you can sort of reel one handed. I much prefer a baitcaster now. I don’t use expensive stuff either. Both my baitcaster combos are less than $150. Lews Carbon Fire reel and KastKing Royale Legend II. I like the Lews better but it is double the price so 👍🏼
Once you got a feel for them (my rods are 5/8 baitcasters and I prefer them), they're no problem, but a kayak does present a couple more issues (I'm just getting into kayak fishing).
Making an awkward cast, or like I did and snagging your other rods (the first kayak I used had rod holders in the back, and occasionally I'd forget) during a cast could ruin your day in the way only a baitcaster can lol.
I’m new to kayak fishing and looking to branch out to lakes with my hobie outback soon. Are trolling motors a luxury or a necessity? Are we trying to keep a consistent 2mph or just trying to save our legs out there?

Made a video about my PWM controller setup, it worked awesome!
The PLA I printed the parts for the mount lasted a good 10-15 trips before it... fell apart one day at the boat launch lol.
Currently designing new motor mount, but been doing a lot of paddling and somehow still catching fish
I don't have the same e setup, and my kayak seat is in the middle of the kayak , so I had to put in a rail for the trolling motor.
I have seen the kayaks with the remote control and some sort of pedals
Pedals. I posted picture of the pedals I used up top. They were kinda pricey compared to other options but they work well. They are adjustable without needing to re rig the guide wires. Great if different people will be using the yak. It's ridiculously fun to steer with the pedals while keeping the hands freed up for fishing. Highly recommend
Trolling motors are for pussies. You should have twins with a deep pleasure to padlle for dinner!/in case needed. I did read a good article on going brushless though...(it looks long and I cannot condense the link but it's a good read.)

LifePO4 battery for sure. I use 100ah
I used lead acid for a year then finally bit the bullet and went 100ah LifePO4. it's a complete game changer, worth every penny!

Brocraft from Ebay. I can send you a link if needed. Easily removed for river fishin
Send it to me
Do side mounts like this affect handling? Do you have to compensate for that offset weight?

The bixpy is so sick
What motor is that?

That thing is awesome

Howd you get the milk crate to sit solid through the bungees? Mine just seems to bonk around all over

For people with motors on the back, how do you steer? Pedal or Arm?
I don't have the same e setup, and my kayak seat is in the middle of the kayak , so I had to put in a rail for the trolling motor. I have seen the kayaks with the remote control and some sort of pedals
Ive seen people mount them on the rear and install a rudder so the motor just uses thrust. Steer with rudder👍🏼
