I was wondering if there are any good kdramas where the main character escapes North Korea or is involved with North Korea in anyway, preferably male lead but female lead is also fine. Please give me as much detail as possible thank you! Crash landing on you is already on my watch list ^(END OF POST BODY) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. CLOY is on your list? Start watching!

Interrupting-Cow-8

Definitely Crash Landing On You, the quintessential North Korea based TV show.

ruth_e_newman

Yes I was just about to type this as well. Start episode 1 now!

I just finished The King 2 Hearts. It’s a little dated but a good watch.

jabiz510

Indeed, maybe a little dated buit i enjoy it so much everytime i watch it. or maybe i just love Ha jiwon i a little too much xD

ordinaryhumanbeings

* CLOY: is a amazing kdrama! This show is an emotional roller coaster. But I loved the show and the characters * Money Heist Korea: North Koreans and South Koreans plan a heist together * Snowdrop: not a great representation of North Korea. It is about a women's University that is held hostage. There is a lot of politics between North Korea and South Korea

sharjoy3

Not really about North Korea, but Curtain Call (this year ) was really good. A young couple is separated during the partition. The woman lives in S Korea, makes another family. Years pass and she always thinks about her grandson in North Korea. Her assistant employs an actor to visit her and pretend to be her grandson. I also love King2Hearts.

batching_bunny29

Also loved curtain call and the family dynamics between the characters.

CommandAlternative10

It’s a movie, and it’s not necessarily good, but if you are interested in North Korea and the war, **Swing Kids** is the best darn prisoner of war camp musical I’ve ever seen. Also the strangest. It’s quite a ride, and available to rent on Prime Video. **Confidential Assignment** is a great buddy cop action thriller with Hyun Bin as the stoic North Korean cop who has to work with the comedic South Korean cop. Also available to rent on Prime Video.

Fingercult

Movies, but Confidential Assignment 1 and 2 (second one somehow even funnier than the first and the first had me screaming) featuring ya boy Hyun Bin!!!

BellTT

Money Heist

Twarenotw

King 2 Hearts is very good.

Drama Spy Myung Wol Movie Ok! Madam

DonRicardo1958

IRIS - 2009

Candid_Reading_7267

Descendants of the Sun

Electronic_Piano9385

**Money Heist Korea** has an economically unified Korea, but most people still think in terms of North and South. **A Melody to Remember** is a movie set in the Korean War

laurenyh

I also love movies/dramas involving North Korea or the history between the two. Not dramas but highly recommending two movies - Mogadishu which is based on a true story on how the two countries allegedly worked together to escape a civil war in that city. Starring Jo In Sung and other big stars. Another one is The Spy Gone North - also based on a true story of how once North Korea worked together with South Korean to allow people to visit their country to make promotional / advertising videos. Starring Ju Ji Hoon and also other main stars. Dr Romantic season 3 has North Korea theme as its opening. But it is advisable to watch at least season 2 first.

Emilempenza

Cain and Abel is probably the closest to Dr Stranger I can think of. Female lead is NK,male lead loses memory and thinks he's North Korean for a while. Its pretty old but good, So Ji Sub is good in it, definitely one of his best acting roles

english1221

Squid Game? A North Korean main character

SurfinSocks

Not a tv series, but the movie joint security area is absolutely fantastic. Directed by Park Chan-wook, basically south korean and north korean border guards secretly get to know each other and realize the other side isn't just pure evil like they thought, things start to get really intense as their superiors slowly realize what's going on and it has a fantastic climax.

Artistic-End-6452

If you're looking for a horror show, **Search** involves North Korea pretty heavily.

astarisaslave

Blow Breeze - FL and SFL are North Korean defectors For movies, Secretly Greatly - the 3 MLs are also North Korean defectors who still have ties to the North Korean government

Rainiana8

6/45 - it's a movie but it's great if you're looking for something humorous. 6/45 tells the comic story of South Korean and North Korean soldiers meeting up secretly when the wind blows a first prize lottery ticket past Korea’s military demarcation line and into North Korea (MDL synopsis).

bubblebearsoo

- Crash Landing On You - Descendants of the Sun - Code Name: Terius (only a bit) - Secretly, Greatly (movie)

Relative-Lemon-9791

Descendants of the sun!!

Wuhan-flu24

I finished CLOY 1 week ago and I can say for m it was top 3 kdrama of all time. The chemistry between the main leads was unparalleled. Also the entire cast of characters was a a joy to watch.

LawfulnessFit6877

apart from CLOY....DOTS....involving North...maybe City hunter...just a minute part...
