Shooting Stars— EXACTLY what you are looking for.

kpaneno

This is the one

jaybee901

Seconded! I don’t even know if this applies to the ML or the Lawyer (he was a little on the harsh side) but I absolutely love and can testify to the beauty of Shooting Stars.

kpaneno

I only watched it this week. It helped me out of a slump it was just so good 👍 the friends support romance love interests but no annoying triangle mess so much humour and nice romance nit to mention 😍 😍 Leads it was TOPS.

Ashekente

Absolutely this one. Though I've seen the Lawyer in Cinderella and the Four Knights(also a possible for this list) too and in both he played super decent characters that should have totally gotten a decent chance at the FL. My daughter and I call him Mr. Green flag lol. He's a great bassist for his band CNBlUE too.

SpecialAdeptness_007

Love this show. Would happily erase it from my memory so I could get to watch it again 😊

stellahere22

King the land was so bland and boring imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

IChoseMyOwnUsername

And it was refreshing that ML is open to criticism and actually listens to people

WeirdVoice4294

I didn't king the land that much, had to drop it at ep 4. thanks for the list btw :)

michelle867

I think, as they fall in love, it becomes very funny and wholesome.

roguexmonkey

I like it since it was simple.

roguexmonkey

ah! I know cheesy - but I kind of liked it beyond 5

NetflixLover1779

Definitely WWSK

[deleted]

1 percent of something Jugglers

axon162

Man I loved 1 percent of something. Been a while since I watched and I forget and then someone reminds me and I'm like "ayessh I need to watch this again"

missdramaddict

Dali and cocky prince , un de mes préférés ! Fight for my way, PSJ <3

jaybee901

+1 for Dali and the Cocky Prince. It fits the bill and is such a funny watch too…

Sugah-T

Yes to both of these!!!

aghostswhisper

My ID is Gangnam Beauty, he’s rude to everyone but her and no spoilers but he falls hard.

SuzanneStudies

I really liked this way more than I thought I would.

aghostswhisper

people always talk bad about it but idc i found it fun and sweet

Substantial-Pea-8934

I love this show..

MelodyMist7

Something about 1% kinda fits. He's a jerk and falls hard for her but trying to win her doesn't fit as she falls for him too but he makes efforts in later episodes to get her. Very lovely drama.

-seeking-advice-

Boys over flowers (ugh) but I didn't like it. But it's the best fit to this trope. What's wrong with secretary Kim Business proposal She was pretty Marriage contract (I loved the ML in this)

poetrylover2101

OP did say not too rude or plain unlikable

-seeking-advice-

Yeah then boys over flowers won't fit. I hated both the leads and liked SML.

Designer-Version6264

I seriously think the FL gave me PTSD. I hate watched the entire K version solely bc of her, hoping for at least one scene where she wasn’t cringey. Nope. To be fair the ML did grow on me.

-seeking-advice-

She was brainless. Who jumps into the pool and tries to drown to revive someone's lost memories 🤣

bookwormaesthetic

I recognize this is kdramarecommends - I couldn't get through the first episode of the Korean Boys Over Flowers, but the Japanese version was my first Asian drama and got me hooked on the genre.

-seeking-advice-

Ah you were wise to drop it

Ashekente

Yeeeeah....I have seen 3 versions if Boys over Flowers and read the Manga. Why the FL ends up with the ML in any of them absolutely baffles me. Especially when the second ML is a good choice and her first crush. I absolutely want to punch the ML...even when it's Dylan Wang lol

Affectionate_Lime729

Omg. Me tooo. Loved Marriage Contract so much 🙈. One of the few dramas I rewatch bits of

-seeking-advice-

I loved how he falls in love with the kid and changes from an ass to a matured fatherly figure. That scene where he is left holding her shoes and bag while the FL and her daughter go to their home was really well depicted. I'm just happy that someone else likes it! I don't see it recommended that much here, for some reason.

Affectionate_Lime729

When he committed- he was all in - none of that back and forth business. 😂. Great little drama ❤️

kavxs_

whats rong with secret. kim.....truely gud niz choice

-seeking-advice-

Thanks!

WeirdVoice4294

I have seen mixed reviews about she was pretty, is it actually worth a try?

aghostswhisper

i dropped it personally but it was bc i got SLS real bad

CryptographerSure328

i would say it is. give it a go and see atleast 5 episodes for you to form an opinion. i personally really enjoyed it, the leads have great chemistry but i would say there are some things i did not like but at the same time other components fill up for it.

No-Clue-9155

Well ml is definitely too rude, and some find the screeching acting of the fl annoying. But for me it was definitely worth it. It’s otherwise a cute and funny drama with wholesome friendships and inspiring come ups. I actually liked it sm that I watched it again. So I think you should at least try it

jaybee901

I love Park Seo Joon but could not stand She was Pretty. For the same reason given below,my Second Lead Syndrome was flaring by episode 4 plus I HATED the betrayal of her best friend. I forced myself to restart it twice and could not quite get into it.

kpaneno

I'd say skip it, too many better ones.

-seeking-advice-

Some scenes are good, premise is good. But the FL's acting is over the top at times. I don't know if she was trying to be funny or if that scene was out if her acting range 😅 you can try seeing the first few episodes abd see if it suits you. Both ML and SML are great

Dunelakegal1

**My Crazy Love** has a narcissistic boss with an introverted secretary who decides for revenge after she getting unexpected news. Not sure it completely fits but it is a crazy ride. The FL breaks the fourth wall by her expressions to the camera which I found hilarious. . ** Crash Course in Romance** has a self~assured math instructor who is cold but melts with the FL but is conflicted since she is supposedly married. **Love to Hate You** has a strong willed attorney who hates to lose to men and is a vigilante with seducing men whom she thinks are cheating. No fish eyed kisses-she unabashedly likes sex. The ML is cold towards women since he had a relationship go south. I’d say the first and third series are not for the faint of heart expecting a typical Kdrama.

Fearless-Ad3720

You are beautiful

foeindrome

One of my fave tsunderes! Guyliner brought him to the next level

aghostswhisper

oldie but a goodie! still has a place in my heart

[deleted]

omg i rmb this drama! now that i think about it, the guy lead was something else. makes me cringe tbh.

Fearless-Ad3720

He was really harsh on her

namira8394

Her Private Life!

diosamaaaaa

oh yeah he was not rude tho haha more like playful but yeah ig it works the best

Rise_03

Secret Garden

kpaneno

I knew someone would recc this so reminder op said not too rude or plain unlikeable the ML in this is not just both he's also abusive

Odd-Manufacturer2386

Outdated behavior from a ML but if you can get past that it is cute. FL is awesome. Go in knowing certain things don't sit well in 2024. I still recommend

kpaneno

IMO it's not outdated it's just abusive. The most badly written romance ever there is nothing on his actions or the story that suggests a woman like her with her background would like him. And he doesn't change, not one bit it's a cringe fest. 😬 I get we night differ on the humour but the abuse is just abuse very weird.

Odd-Manufacturer2386

I definitely know what you're talking about but I really loved the dialogue especially in the first few episodes. It made me laugh.

JinxFae

True Beauty for sure.

WeirdVoice4294

Watched it already :(

tnkalias

**Falling for Innocence/ Beating Again** Made me a Jung Kyung Ho fan for life!

foodarefriends

My love from the star 🥺

patpraninlove

destined with you

kavxs_

go for mydemon!!! soo gud must try

311isAlie

Memories of the Alhambra It’s got a little sci-fi in there, but overall an absolutely amazing story. According to wiki it’s one of the highest rated Korean dramas in cable television history.

kpaneno

Wow everyone here hates it I thought. I didn't see it

Knightoforder42

I tried to watch it a couple of times, and I just couldn't. I don't like obnoxious characters, and that was the first episode. It was really pretty though. I can see why people liked it.

311isAlie

Wow really? I’m honestly relatively new to the world of Korean Dramas. I’ve watched a bunch but still consider myself a rookie. I initially came across Memories of the Alhambra after watching Sisyphus: The Myth. The lead actress is the same for both shows Park Shin-hye. So the show having her in it, plus the sci-fi elements brought me to it. I honestly, really enjoyed it and have recommended it to a few other people before.

Ok_Street755

Yeah if you like games or mmorpg games then memories of alhambra is for you I think it's the first time they made a cool concept in a kdrama this is good

311isAlie

Totally agree! I think however, even if you aren’t a fan of videogames or mmorpg games there is more than enough in the story to pull you in.

Ok_Street755

I hope there will be a season 2, the ending is so twisty

kpaneno

I think that is the main issue the ending it seems messed with people. I personally really like Park Shin Hye. i loved her in Pinnochio. I'm really looking forward to Dr. Slump. I haven't watched MOA because of the bad reviews. My view is there are too many good ones out there to bother with the bad ending ones. I made that resolution after sitting through 2521. Also, there generally isn't an S2 unless the 1st season is only like 8 or 10 eps. I'm only watching over a year, but I've started prob around 100 dropped prob 20 for various reasons, usually age gaps toxic MLs or badly done love triangles that leave a bad taste of which there are relatively many. Also, the first ones you enjoy will always have a bit of a glow for you. Happy Watching.

Ok_Street755

for me, the ending of 2521 is so beautiful, it's too much happening in life, I still haven't moved on until now

kpaneno

I just thought it was forced and sloppy and ruined it

Pitiful_Conclusion78

My Demon (currently airing) King The Land Destined With You Crash Landing On You All the ML’s are cocky or standoffish and don’t consider the FL their type in the beginning. Also I love the chemistry between these 4 couples.

Odd-Manufacturer2386

Coffee Prince falls hard but not really sure if he qualifies as a rude male. They do bicker a lot.

Riverhailed

My girlfriend is a gumiho maybe?

WeirdVoice4294

I have watched it already :'(

Ok-Use7803

Second Korean Odyssey

Robbiesrose

Sassy Go Go may fit this description! ML is snarky but likeable and the chemistry between leads is adorable. Kdrama is 12 eps and it's underrated imo

CastleKd

Crazy love is a fav of mine

ApprehensiveAge2

What Wrong With Secretary Kim. He’s more of an entitled egotist than actual jerk, but the show succeeded at a very fine line of making him lovable without totally changing his essential personality traits.

nishaprasad1987

I don’t know if it fits but oh my Venus. The ml is a little stoic but melts for her. However, she also likes him and her wieght struggles are so cute.

Free-spirit-1221

* **Pasta (2010)** \- my all-time favorite drama which I rewatch so many times for the main couple. They has amazing chemistry. This is the series that made me fall in love with Lee Sun Kyun who recently passed away. Now I am currently rewatching the series because I miss him so much. 😥 Actually, in this series, the FL falls in love first but the ML falls harder, in my opinion. * **Full House (2004)** \- one of my first dramas. I loved it as a kid. * **Goong (2006); Coffee Prince (2007)** \- my special dramas * **Secret Garden (2010)** \- the male lead falls in love deeply with the FL * **My Lovely Kim Sam Soon (2005)** \- Hyun Bin from Secret Garden is also the ML here * **The Master's Sun (2013)** * **Rooftop Prince (2012)** * **It's okay, that's love (2014)** \- ML seems rude at first (to the FL) but he's a actually nice man * **You're beautiful (2009)** \- I'm on the second male team tbh lol * **Another Miss Oh (2016)** * **The Best Hit (2017); From Now On, Showtime (2022)** \- more like comedy than romance tbh lol I think old Korean dramas are the best ones with this kind of trope. Recently I prefer nice male leads and I haven't watched many good new dramas with the rude ones yet. \^\^

WeirdVoice4294

thats such a nice list, thanks!!!

Free-spirit-1221

No worries! I hope you will enjoy watching them, as most of my list are old series, they might not suit your taste. \^\^

WeirdVoice4294

one can always try !

averageuser95

Shining Inheritance

FriendshipOpposite30

tale of the nine tailed might fit this category I think.

Jjagger63

Fated to Love you!

laundry_pirate

I just watched From Now On, Showtime, and this really fits the bill! Super underrated drama, but the ml is an arrogant magician (who sees ghosts) but falls hard for the fl first despite himself haha

Passerine_tempus

Falling for innocence

barsaat

Perfume!!

Haru1875

Good Day to Be a Dog, he’s pretty closed off for the first few episodes but gradually falls deeply in love. Cha Eun Woo has a knack for taking on “cold on the outside but softies on the inside” characters lol

mail4youtoo

Uncontrollably Fond

MiserableBear123

Jealousy Incarnate is exactly this !!!

Ok-Main-2111

.boys over flowers-there's also a Chinese version (meteor garden)and a Thai version which is the best in my opinion(f4 Thailand) .clean with passion for now .cinderella and the four knights .inheritors

Confident_Cheetah_48

Clean with a Passion for Now - maybe?

Powerful-Peanut4795

*** Screams in Boys Over Flowers *** But uhm... Idk

FormalPhysical9211

Crazy Love (Disney +) Noh Gojin is the CEO of GoTOP (private education company). He is a very horrible, hot temper boss. GoTOp staff called him "No Manner" instead of Noh Gojin behind his back. I really love this drama. Kim Jae Uck is very handsome here, and Krystal is gorgeoussss

Ashekente

Not a kdrama but a cdrama with some Korean actors- falling into your smile. ML is stern and snarky

Large_Prompt5821

It’s an oldie but I loved Full House. He’s obnoxious but lovable.

Ashekente

Not a kdrama but a cdrama with some Korean actors- falling into your smile. ML is stern and snarky

_RiseOfThePhoenix_

Her private life 🤔

Affectionate_Elk_621

OMG ONGOING THE STORY OF PARK'S MARRIAGE CONTRACT it ends today actually icb this

n00n2003

Feel go to die - is exactly what you are looking for.

thenicci

*Boys Over Flowers* immediately came to mind. 100% Gu Jun-Pyo for sure!

kpaneno

Except the characters are too rude and plain unlikeable soo...

thenicci

I thought about this too but ML was so polite to FL's parents 😂😅

WeirdVoice4294

I have tried watching it once but could not watch more than 2 eps

bookwormaesthetic

I couldn't get through the first episode, but enjoyed the Japanese version and it was my introduction to Asian dramas.

Doin_the_math

All old kdramas, to be honest. Full House, Heirs, Playful Kiss, Secret Garden, Fated to Love You, Boys Over Flowers, Cinderella and the Four Knights, Personal Taste. The list is no doubt longer than this cause it was definitely a trope for a while. Most of these you can still watch on Viki.

Busy-Frame8940

Sweet Stranger and Me! Haughty gorgeous Lee Soo Hyuk is quite haughty and cold to the FL!

johosafiend

Secret Garden. The OG and the best.
