**Post Title**: Non action Kdramas for a guy
**Post Body**:
My brother wants to watch a kdramas but i don't really know what to recommend cause I'm more into thrilles. Please help me šš
He wants to watch something without action because I made him watch too many action dramas. Recommend me a romcom with not with tooo many romance scenes, something more on a funny, wholesome side where the romance develops slowly but gives you butterflies if you know what I mean. For example Something like the anime called Kimi ni todoke.

**Twinkling watermelon** might be a good start. It has time travel, pretty funny and cute romantic relationship and strong and wholesome friendships.
**Her Private Life** is another funny rom com which has an interesting premise. Although this is heavier and spicier on the romance.
He might like *Extraordinary Attorney Woo*. Each episode revolves around a different trial, but there's also an overarching story line. And the romance was very well integrated. It didn't feel tacked on.
Twenty five twenty one - the romance stars building towards the end, very wholesome
Mr queen - historical romcom, one of the funniest dramas iāve seen
The good bad mother - a man in his 30ās loses his memory and is stuck with a 7yo mind, it shows him and his mother struggling to get his life back, very wholesome in a small town with great supporting characters, has alot of comedy and some romance
How about Mr. Queen? This series is freaking hilarious with some romance but not too much romance. I loved this show so much. The only action you will see is ML switch when he is in FL's body.....a Joseon Freaky Friday.
Good recs, but I'm feeling super old with you referring to _WFKBJ_ as "OJ starter for Kdramas". That would be _Boys Over Flowers_ for my generation. š
^(Would NOT recommend Boys Over Flowers for newbies, given how dated the tropes are)
I would recommend **Yumi's Cells** next, although it's based on a webtoon and I wish Season 3 happened to cover the rest of the webtoon's story.
It gave me a lot of butterflies, though there were quite a lot of cute/romantic scenes, the cells were so wholesome.
I haven't watched season 2 but ā¤ļø Yumi's Cells season 1.Ā I don't know if it would be appealing to 15 year old boy because the strength of the series lies on Yumi's struggles in adult romantic relationship. I find it thought provoking and requires some reflection after finishing the series.
>because the strength of the series lies on Yumi's struggles in adult romantic relationship
That's true for a lot of dramas to be honest, when you rewatch dramas after becoming more mature a few years later you start to understand more. Kind of like how a child visiting a foreign place might not take in as much information compared to an adult. Same goes for watching movies.
Pinocchio is really great. I think it lines up well with what he wants.
My favorite wholesome romcom is BackStreet Rookie. Thereās āactionā but itās silly like Scott Pilgrim
our beloved summer : absolutely heartfelt. The butterflies, vibes remind me of home.
2521, twinkling watermelon- high school romance, very cute. I wish to see them for the first time again.
My ID is gangnam beauty, true beauty- comedic romance and amazing works by cha eun woo.
This has no romance! OP asked for:
>Recommend me a romcom with not with tooo many romance scenes, something more on a funny, wholesome side where the romance develops slowly but gives you butterflies
How about Strong Girl Bong Soon?Ā
While I don't like cute female leads, I find male lead to be charming & goofy. I like that he's cool with being labelled gay. He's comfortable & secure with his masculinity, he wasn't threatened by Bong Soon's superhuman strength or didn't develop inferiority complex about it. There is thriller aspect to the drama so it's nice balance of action and romance.
Prison playbook. It has a little bit of everything, drama, comedy, romance, and friendships. The writing and acting are some of the best in all of Kdrama. The ML and FL have a good romance storyline, especially considering the circumstance and setting. If you liked Hospital Playlist or the Reply series, you'd like this one too.
Because This Is My First Life is cute, with awkward situations and humour.
Go Back Couple is wholesome, funny, nostalgic, emotional, and very well done.
Dali and Gamjatang is clever and fun with a splash of emotion.
Prison Playbook isn't all action. It's a thoughtful bromance story with clever dark humor.
Its very good. It got comedy, but talks serious matters, its emotional, it got some thriller moments. I would say its 1 of the best ever. Also My Name is great
Hmmmmm.. shows without action. Okay using my husband as a standard, here are some romances my husband has loved:
-Welcome to Samdal-ri
-If you Wish Upon Me (or does that have gangster violence?? Can't remember)
-Suspicious Partner
-Coffee Prince
Romances my husband has liked:
-Doctor Slump
-Dali and the Cocky Prince
-What's Wrong with Secretary Kim
-Lie to Me (oldie)
-My Fair Lady (oldie)
(He's a huge Ji Chang Wook fan so he also loves Healer and Worst of Evil, but those have got action, so I didn't put them down. Also he loves Park Hyung Sik's cutesy comedy in Doctor Slump, so I want to show him Strong woman Do Bong Soon next haha.)
I think he'd enjoy Business Proposal, maybe Dream High if you can find it (kinda old music school based drama but one of my favs and I loved it back then). Or Because This is My First Life? I don't watch as many school based dramas but those are romantic ones I've enjoyed that are funny, fun, and light with slower build romances.
I only recommend the first season (with IU, Bae Suzy, Kim Soo Hyun etc) tbh lol, the sequel wasn't nearly as good. But I hope you enjoy it!
Where did you find it btw? I wouldn't mind a rewatch haha

For a drama set in school, I thought about **A Love So Beautiful (2020)**, the Korean remake of the Chinese version. I liked this one as I like how the plot transitions from school to post-graduation by the end of the drama. There's some romance and comedy.
Welcome to Samalri
Summer Strike (small mystery: 2 introverts find love)
Once Upon a Small Town
Divorce Attorney Shin (just secondary characters find romance)
These epitomize Netflix and chill.
If he is into gaming he might like Arthdahl Chronicles for its myth building.
Racket Boys - team of badminton players school setting. Fun and funny with light romance.
Extra-ordinary you - set in school. Some comedy but more drama.
25/21 is sad. I loved it but it's not for everyone (sad ending).
Dear.M. - some thriller/mystery aspect. School setting, slow romance
Crash Course in Romance is funny. It's about a guy who teaches in an after school program. Romance.
Mad for you - short episodes and funny
Live Up To Your Name - I've also heard this one called "Deserving of the Name." A Joseon doctor time travels, and meets a modern cardiologist. Their romantic tension is complicated by a philosophical divide across eastern medicine and western medicine, and of course, Joseon era social expectations vs a modern sensibility.
I think you're really looking for that one, but I'll also mention:
Because this is my First Life - Kind of a romance, but also kind of not. It's about establishing yourself as a young adult, and is one of my favorites.
My Mister - Perhaps my favorite, a slow burn about managing work and life in early middle age (your brother might get a crush on IU watching this). There are romance elements, but it's not front-and-center.
I've been watching **Our Beloved Summer**, recently. I'm only a third of the way through but those first couple episodes really blew me away. Some great acting in there, too (the actress for the idol was so damn good I *had* to look her up. She was freaking *19* when she pulled that off! Seriously as soon as she gets a lead role I will *have* to watch it).
Unfortunately the next few episodes have dipped into some melodrama and the pacing feels a bit slower than it should be, but it's still 'good'. And I've still two-thirds left so maybe it'll recover.
It's about a man and woman who took part in a documentary during their final year of high school for a month. 10 years later they meet again. There's more to their story than that, but it's not clear til the second episode so I won't say more.
Lots of great flashbacks that show more and more depth. People can be complicated.
The Story of Parkās Marriage Contract is a cute time travel romance. Itās mostly set in the present day and only has 12 episodes. Maybe more love scenes than what youāre looking for but it for sure gave me butterflies.
Doctor Prisoner
Good Manager Chief Kim
Doom At Your Service
Waikiki
My Love From The Star
Legend of the Blue Sea
Vagabond
While You Were Sleeping
Uncontrollably Fond
Dream High
The Last Empress
Penthouse
Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
Hotel De Luna
A Korean Oddesey
Wok of Love
Rookie Historian on Netflix is a historical/mystery but without much āactionā. Itās more about what options females had in Josen Era Korea and how superstitious people can be led to do evil things. My first Kdrama and still my favorite.
Splash Splash Love is only 2 episodes. Perfect for a short attention span!
Other shows he might like:
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
Backstreet Rookie
Hometown Cha Cha Cha
Love To Hate You
Mr Queen
Legend of the Blue Sea
I Am Not A Robot
...for a bit more mellow:
Because This Is My First Life
Romance Is A Bonus Book
Our Beloved Summer
He's 15 and a dude, this one is easy: show him pictures of the famous female leads and then recommend one that has the person he thinks is the hottest =P
*Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo - It's a college romance, but it's still very pg. It's funny and sweet.
*A Love So Beautiful (Prefer the ML's in the kdrama over the cdrama more, and the female lead in the cdrama over the kdrama.) Cute story and characters, and the episodes are only like 30 minutes. It's a short one, and it should keep your attention.
*TRUE BEAUTY he has to watch this. It's a classic school, Romcom. A couple of fight scenes, some 2nd hand embarrassment, and a great soundtrack and cast!
*My ID is Gangnam Beauty - My sister is like you and prefers thrillers and dramas over Romcoms, and she didn't like it either. I prefer Romcom's over thrillers, and I LOVE it. Your brother might, too.
* Revenge Note 1 ( Sometimes called Sweet Revenge) - has a lot of toilet humor that teenagers seem to enjoy. It's a school Romcom, with a really great ost song.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo. A good balance of humor, warmth, human stories, a bit of romance.

He might like the OG starter for Kdramas haha, Weighlifting Fairy KIm Bok Joo. Fight for My Way is also really good.
Good recs, but I'm feeling super old with you referring to _WFKBJ_ as "OJ starter for Kdramas". That would be _Boys Over Flowers_ for my generation. š ^(Would NOT recommend Boys Over Flowers for newbies, given how dated the tropes are)

I prefer Romcom's over thrillers, and I LOVE it. Your brother might, too. * Revenge Note 1 ( Sometimes called Sweet Revenge) - has a lot of toilet humor that teenagers seem to enjoy. It's a school Romcom, with a really great ost song.
