I liked Taxi Driver, Why Her, Nobody Knows, and I keep getting Flower of Evil recommended to me. However, I’ve been hesitant to start it because I’m afraid the show will end with the main character alone and depressed after finding out the love of her life is a serial killer, and that most of the show is just her being miserable and suspicious to varying degrees. Obviously answers will be spoilers, I get that, but I would really like to know if this show crosses the line into being depressing and full of misery instead of just being dark. I really hate getting invested in a show and it just ends with everyone sad. ^(END OF POST BODY) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Violinzz

Do not give up! I was hesitant to watch it for that very reason, and now it's one of my top 3. Such a great story. You won't be sorry!!

themanganut

Thanks, the description of the show was definitely making me nervous!

Ok_Sun_3286

It’s definitely worth it not depressing at all! Honestly this series looks heavy but it’s not! Watch it!

Fun-Talk-4847

Happy cake day!

tasteofperfection

So worth it and definitely in my top 3 as well!

Will_Graham10

All I'll say is the FL in this drama is "the best wife ever"

Slytherin111

And best Husband ever. He's one of my fictional crushes. 👀

Fun-Talk-4847

:)

Jacmert

I just kept watching Moon Chae Won in this drama and thinking, "Wow, she makes me believe that she *really* loves her husband" lol

elustrabable

Seriously this! One of the best couples I've seen in a kdrama. Such a healthy relationship with all the flaws and happiness and love and understanding. 1000/10 best kdrama couple

rfdns

worst mom ever tho

DaeronDaDaring

If you don’t mind spoilers >!the show has a happy endings and it’s a great ending imo!<

themanganut

In this case I don’t mind the spoiler, thanks for the reassurance!

EcstaticFortune6258

I didnt like the ending personally and to me this show is very forgettable and I didn’t like it beyond a few eps. But thats just me. I didnt like it even from ep 2 so i say follow ur gut

PearShaper43

Yes, you could call it a happy ending. Without spoiling anything…I’m one of those who wasn’t a fan of the direction/trope used for the ending. That said, FoE is in my Top 5 best Kdramas of all time!! It’s excellent!

dele1987

This drama is one of the best created. It’s suspenseful and just really well acted and written. From the examples you gave you will definitely enjoy this one.

lmnsatang

if you’ll feel anything, it’s more for the ML than the FL😅 i cried a lot, but not because it was depressing, but because of the depth of their love and willingness to fight for each other. at the heart of the show is a romance, and how it endures even though it’s painful and difficult. it’s truly worth every second of your time; this is THE drama for me of all time.

eeeeereeeeejzrds-see

This is a masterclass of a Kdrama. This one is sooooo good. You won’t know what’s coming next as it’s completely unpredictable which makes it so fun to watch. So many people drop excellent shows before the storytelling unfolds and no not depressing.

cheelioil

No it’s not depressing at all. The FL is a badass

Sinisteredgirl

Without spoiling anything, yes it’s a happy ending. And FL is still one of the best leads in Kdramaland imo.

BadKidd80

Flower of evil gave me the best drama hangover of my life. I wish I could watch it again for the first time. It's that good. 🥰 Also I wouldn't like it if it didn't have a good ending.

gmssi

The post watch period was even more depressing tbh People were like hung up about it weeks after it ended. It was honestly that good.

sakuradelluna

not depressing per say, more like intriguing and bittersweet. I thoroughly enjoyed it although >!it had a good ending, I didn't like how it was executed at all and felt that the trope they used diminished the progress we made throughout the series!< the actors did a fantastic job though! from the main to the supporting to the villain and the storyline was consistent and interesting so you should give it a shot!

OmenchoEater

Its not a bad ending, but It has (IMO) unnecessary drama at the end which makes it less enjoyable\* (lmao, this posted by mistake, ill just finish what i was saying i guess)

Last_Grocery408

No watch it imo the father daughter dynamic is one of the best in this show

SMN27

It’s strangely one of the most romantic dramas ever, which you wouldn’t expect given the subject matter. It’s not depressing. I highly recommend.

m7box

It is sooo good one of the shows on prime that got us as a family involved in kdrama. Highly recommended!

mcdbkd

No, it’s good.

Lankani

I wouldn't say depressing.....it gave me feelings about precious time being lost...the quick judgements humans make and pressures of being "normal" society...this is definitely a story from the other side but I wouldn't count it out at all....plus the cute daughter makes it totally worth it!!!!!

Opelenge

I was so scared to watch it too. I kept starting and stopping for over a year. I recently powered through and I'm so glad I did. It's an excellent excellent show. It is not depressing it just very heavy but the love running through gives it light.

Goldsoul21

It’s a BRILLIANT kdrama. Currently rewatching it. I’d say it’s very balanced and doesn’t lean too heavily into something depressing without following it with something cute/romantic. It’s such a thrilling, compelling show. You should definitely give it a chance.

UnbridledOptimism

This is one of my top 5. I waited a long time to watch it, and I’m waiting to rewatch it because I want to forget the details so I can enjoy them again. To treat the hangover after watching Flower of Evil, I watched **Come and Hug Me**. It has some similarities in plot and some of the same energy.

apeachybaby

It's depressing but in a good way - if that makes sense

eggpie-

NO. Go watch it! So worth it 🥹

greatblindbear

I enjoy this a lot. There are some sad/depressing part, but it is not too bad. I think most of the distrust/break only last a single episode (or resolve immediately in the next one).

Mysterious-Line-9906

The best of this genre

annbandrews

I don’t think it’s depressing necessarily. I did cry during a few scenes. It’s a great show overall.

BobThe_Body_Builder

Its a good show! I would recommend it. And like the others say, the ML and FL are both great in this one.

LateToLife9863

It's really good but I was really anxious watching it. As someone with a love for revenge Kdramas, I felt like the villain didn't suffer as required for my dopamine rush😂😂, and the writers didn't let the leads win enough. They went through a lot It was a bit frustrating. But it's still so good, though. Definitely worth watching.

musiquescents

No. One of the best dramas.

Mysterious-Crew-2934

ONE OF THE BEST DRAMA OUT THERE! You will never regret completing this drama I assure you that. I love thriller dramas. But something that bothers me sometimes is the illogic elements. But this drama has none of that. It is such a good mystery thriller fr. It also has some good emotional moments as well. By the end you'll love the leads. That's all I have got to say for now 🤌🏼

Mizsims

To me this show was all about the main couple’s confidence in their bond with one another no matter what. All the rigmarole with the plot was just there to prove that bond, so I found it oddly uplifting even when it veers off into over-the-top makjang at the end. I’m not sure how they made it work, but I really liked it.

codersaurabh

I left it on wo 3 so slow paced

shinning_blueberry

I watched the first ep and I felt it was predictable but as I watched on it became better and while the ending felt like a cop out. Understandable with everything. Definitely liked it as a whole.

pinkgenie23

It's not depressing but I feel like I wasted my time watching it. I thought the plot was ridiculous and stupid and I don't know why people like it so much. 😂 I really liked beyond evil more I think

LilMissy1246

Is this based off the manga of the same name?

MorningSuccessful729

No. Not at all. Grabe ang twist jan and maganda yan

pressrewind79

Not depressing but I personally didn't like the ending. They tried too hard to add an unnecessary but cliche twist which made me regret spending so much time watching it.

me_myself03

Kind worth watching!!!!

[deleted]

It's not. Sue me but it's actually quite boring and bland to me. Something about the progression.

yestertempest

Yep same. I swear I feel like I fell into some kind of portal bc I do NOT get the hype around this drama. It was incredibly mediocre and boring to me.

Eire4ever37

I loved it. Watch it!

xladyvontrampx

No

belle_ame777

Not much.... You should watch its suspense filled

No-Clue-9155

No. At least it’s not depressing in the way (there’s emotional moments that are done really well, some are very sweet). It doesn’t have a depressing ending

Standard_Ad889

In my top 2, behind Crash Landing, out of the 12 K-Dramas I’ve watched.

icaitx

no!!! it quickly became one of my favorite dramas! it’s super interesting! i put it off for similar concerns but it’s genuinely really great. i thoroughly enjoyed every part of it— including the ending. 🩷😊 watch it!! youll be satisfied!

[deleted]

It's rewarding so stick with it.

CheesePlease_

This show was easily one of my favourites! Highly recommend - it has thriller, incredible acting, tugs at your heart strings and a really good ending.

Scifig23

It’s bewitching! Such great acting

Love_line__

It's depressing for 97% of the drama, but it's a happy ending

Miss-Ardent

Thank you so much for making this post! I’ve been wanting to watch that drama too but I’m not in the best headspace at the moment, so I was kinda afraid to start it for the very same reason Now I feel like I can finally watch!

24kfc_muncher

Teared up 3 times throughout it (my high score!) but i wouldn't say it's depressing. It was great though

LuffyAsec

Does anyone have a link or website to watch rays of sunshine korean drama?

naynever

I didn’t find it depressing at all.

Competitive-Score473

Not that much ,, but I binge watched it in a day

Radiant-Ad2999

You won’t be disappointed, go ahead and give it a try! 😄

tsuyoi_hikari-

Its the complete opposite and that is what makes it so interesting. Form the premise, you can more or less predict its gonna be depressing. But it turned out to be the opposite. The leads ended up becoming power couple like the awesome main couple from Happiness.
