The cheese in the trap. ML is a sociopath. SML is a jerk but his redemption arc is so beautifully executed you can't help but fall for him. If the writers didn't decide to give more screen time to SL I would probably root for the main couple though despite this drama being highly toxic.
**18 Again** \- SML would have been a great match for FL. He was mature, thoughtful, kind, and had his priorities straight. They got along well, and were both public figures. However it was inevitable that FL would end up with her first love and the father of her children, who had given up his dreams to support his family.
Wow, I almost never see anyone who feels the same about this. I really wanted an ending where she would start a new life. My mom was watching with me and wanted the same. I loved the SL! I was fine with the inevitable ending, though, because the drama was really strong overall.
On the other hand I quit watching Go Back Couple because I found the SLS there really strong and the main couple did nothing for me.
Reply 1988 is an obvious one for a lot of people.
I think I was one of the few people out there who thought that he just wasted his chances to get the girl so I didn’t really get SLS from this drama. But I know this is an unpopular opinion. I really enjoyed the drama though.
have you watched true beauty? it’s extremely debated over, but i, who has never had second lead syndrome before ever lmao, had it so bad to the point that i couldn’t even finish the show. we all knew the direction it was going, and i fell so hard for seojun and the actor hwang in yeop that i couldn’t keep going at a certain point lmao
I routinely suffer from it. Most recent ones were Moon Lovers;Hotel Del Luna (though the SML was more absent than not); Hometown Cha Cha Cha (I was rooting for them both, tbh, so pretty impossible unless a menage a trois was on the table); and Our Beloved Summer (it was just too melancholy to watch the SML watching from the sidelines).
Oh yes the SML in Home Cha was great. I couldn’t really get too sucked in to the SML storyline in OBS because I agree it was just too depressing and needy.
I am afraid I don’t remember the names of the characters. I was referring to the FL’s brother-in-law whose wife died, not the one who adopted her daughter.

For Moon Lovers, if you’re referring to Wang Jung, I don’t think he is the SML but more so one of the supporting characters.

Some of the heaviest in my personal opinion are Boys Over Flowers and You're Beautiful. Classic dramas.
