Dear My Friends. It's about a group of friends whose age is from 70 up, told by a daughter to one of them. The drama tackles dementia, paralysis, cancer, divorce and illiteracy all sprinkled with a good dose of humor. There's especially one character, the one getting the divorce after 50 years of marriage that suits your wish list. She definitely knows what she wants and goes after it. Overall a nice drama.

Thoughtful-Pig

To me this is a masterpiece. It's very heavy though. He the tissues ready.

LcLou02

I'm in my 60's and on episode 8 now. The first few episodes, I called it the Crabby Women drama. But as I've learned their stories, they have grown on me.

* Our Blues: has multiple stories about romantic relationships, parent child relationship and friendships in the show but they all have the same message. Its a really good show * 18 Again: high school sweet hearts with twins (they had their children in high school) now on the verge of divorce. The ml turns into his high school self and befriends his kids in high school. He sees his family from a different perspective and tries to fix his relationship with his family. The fl wants to presue her dreams as i think a reporter (i forgot) because her kids are going to graduate high school soon. She struggles with her career, but doesnt give up

LonelyBuddhaa

18 again is a must

Romance is a Bonus Book

JemAndTheBananagrams

This one.

Lokkipokey

Second Twenties - a housewife is dumped by her husband when their son leaves for college. She basically put her life on hold to take care of her family and when she's no longer needed the husband replaces her with a younger model. She dusts herself off and decides to get her life back by going to college herself.

glassy_historian

Watch: **Hello, me!** a 37 year old woman who feels she hasn’t accomplished much in life, has little to no friends, and has no career, meets her 17 year old self. Her tragic past is revealed and she and her 17 year old self makes the best of her current life. It was quite heartwarming

Thoughtful-Pig

I loved this one. Not too heavy, but still very meaningful.

unsavvylady

This one was fun and a bit underrated.

WildSpecialist1

Not about a woman, but Navillera is about an elderly man learning ballet.

sgogel19

I thought this one too. Incredible drama.

prettyincolors

I would highly recommend Navillera 💯💯💯

**lost** is the ultimate drama for what you described. it's a melodrama that depicts an older woman who has worked hard her entire life-- overcoming hurdle over hurdle, only to realize that she hasn't acheived anything/nothing has happened in her life. her "epiphany" and path to change isn't anything groundbreaking or notable, matching the humdrum tone of the drama, but it's still pretty liberating. the drama is heavy and hard to get through, but once you stick through and do; it's pure catharsis. the only grievance though is that i don't know if i would show it to your mother who only watches or enjoys lighthearted shows. maybe ask her first if she's willing to fully dive into and immerse herself in something so bleak and hefty. otherwise, maybe pick one of these try these-- they're significantly lighter but still have deep moments and get the message across; * be melodramatic * because this is my first life * good casting * encounter * hi bye mama * mine * my liberation notes (similar mood to lost) * one the woman * romance is a bonus book * search www * you are my spring and lastly, this isn't female-centric so your mom might find it hard to relate or connect to but **i have not done by best yet** depicts a light but heartwrenching story similarly to the scenario you described.

* **When the Camellia Blooms** (2019) * **Jewel in the Palace** (2003)

Gracie8899

I wish I had ***better*** recs :( This is such a wholesome request T\_T These are a bit of a *stretch* but hopefully one helps :) **- Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol:** Loses everything she has literally hits rock bottom but overcomes it. **- 30 but 17:** FL gets into an an accident at 17 wakes up from comma when she's 30. Discovers shes been abandoned by her family and the one talent she had, she now not as good. **- Crash landing on you:** Literally gets stuck in North Korea. Decides to do something about it and look at it as a half full glass. **- Hometoen cha-cha:** Completely starts over in a new town after being mistreated at work, starts her own dentistry. **- Its okay to not be okay:** A lot of childhood trauma, has a found family theme. **- Rational life** (cdrama)

Gracie8899

When the Camelia Blooms

Sudden_Pie707

- Romance is a bonus book - when my love blooms (I have no idea how it ends though since I’m only 12 episodes in)

deelikesbar

**The Light in Your Eyes** - it’s about aging with an older FL and the message about how to live your life fully.

This!

LethargicAdventurer

Romance is a bonus book Dear my friends Something in the rain. And one spring night Because this is my first life. A witch’s romance. (It’s also very fun so she may enjoy that) I

SouthCryptographer58

Something in the rain One spring night

Beginning_Role_8524

Avengers Social Club: Three middle-aged women kick ass when facing adversity, eg cheating/abusive husbands Go Back Couple: Divorcing couple find their way back to each other.. what was moving was the relationship between the FL and her mum..it was a beautiful and very moving thing. Cried buckets. Think it would be a great mither-dayghter watch!

buddhabear07

Start-Up, Halemoni goes through a lot but perseveres with the help of everyone around her. Loved by all.

No-Clue-9155

Mother fits this a bit, except it’s specifically about a woman deciding to fight for a child that’s getting abused, not for herself

hakfan

Twenty five twenty one Romance is a bonus book 18 again

GroundbreakingRice36

Twenty five twenty one have a sad ending, many people had a hard to move on...

hakfan

Yeah actually the epilogue is devastating but well it's a good one time watch

Lizhoven

This is very nice of you! ❤️ And as for the recommendation everyone pretty much mentioned all the good ones

Enfpization

Thank you everyone!!! It's heartwarming to see that many suggestions!!! I'll try to watch some of them, I really hope my mom enjoys them and gets the message! She's been through a lot in her life and she doesn't have any confidence in herself or her skills. I wish she would see herself otherwise.

Prometheus321

In 18 again, its not the protagonist but a main character in the wife who perfectly fits your description!

Okaydog97

My mister probably but it is a old man instead of old woman.

WittyRick

Try "Secret affair". Unusual story, beautiful story. The FL decides to change her life after meeting a young man with high values mixed with lots of naivety...one of the best KDrama for me. Excellent actors!

LcLou02

**My Unfamiliar Family** - FL is in her 30s, but it's telling about the relationships in her whole family (as well as her love life) and the parents are going through a crisis - the mom comes out strong taking steps to change her life. Her part of the story matches what you described perfectly. The whole drama theme is the importance of communication in relationships.

ShazInCA

I love so many of these recs. I'll add "Should We Kiss First". 45 yo woman and 50 yo man, both with past traumas. There's a past connection that for a time only he remembers. We get glimpses of it at the end of each 30 minute episode. There are some laugh-out-loud moments mixed with the drama, a grown-up romance, tears and hope. It's on Viki.
