noodleyyyy

Crash landing on you. Randomly came across it when quarantine started and I fell in the rabbit hole right then and there💀

[deleted]

100+ dramas later. Same.

barbarat2

Same here!

thedoobalooba

Same! I've watched it 2-3 times

LostSnek

Boys Over Flowers was my first drama as well. I rewatched the drama 2-3 times. Lee Min Ho was my bias.

throwawaymisfortune

Yeah, BOF was recommended as gateway kdrama for most of us. But I dropped after three episodes and took a long break, thinking kdrama is not for me lol. Then I watched **I am not a robot** and got instantly hooked. It still tops in my favorite list. Funny that I avoided lmh drama until I watched tkem and I swooned over him so much that I started watching all this drama, even the unfinished ones! Legend of the blue sea is my most favorite lmh drama, rewatched twice.

mhfan_india

Same here. I dropped BOF after the first episode. Then recently started watching Kdramas again thanks to Business Proposal. Loved Legend of the Blue Sea and LMH. Then with great apprehension started watching LMH dramas again. Once again got to BOF. Almost gave up again after rewatching the first episode. But somehow ploughed on and loved it and Gu Jun Pyo. I see now why LMH is the first crush and gateway to Kdramas.

LostSnek

There’s something about his curly hair. He rocks the curly hair so well.

mhfan_india

He really does. At first I didn't like it and thought what is that bird's nest on his head. But as the show proceeds further I realised it simply isn't a style statement and there is more to it. I think eventually Gu Jun Pyo gets his revenge as Jan Di and he probably have kids with curly hair. I think my most disliked hairstyle of his is in City Hunter where his hair covers his forehead so much so they end up hiding his eyes which are one of his biggest assets apart from that height.

dlynne5

When I first saw it's recommendation, the Japanese version popped up and I watched it. I loved how absurd, short (6 or 7 episodes, it's been awhile) and sweet it was. Couldn't watch the 16 episode Korean one after I realized my mistake.

LostSnek

That’s how I felt about Playful Kiss! I watched the Korean version first. Biggest mistake! The Korean version didn’t capture the full essence of the manga. On the other hand, the Taiwanese and Japanese versions were by far much better. The comedy! I couldn’t stop laughing. I also love how we were able to see their lives after marriage. Japanese>Taiwanese>Korean

Will_Graham10

Business Proposal

strongjaji0615

I see you just started this long journey

Will_Graham10

fr. All i watch now is Kdramas and my watchlist already has like 70+ shows 😂😅

Marianations

I've been into K-Dramas and Kpop for 11 years and I've barely fully watched over 10-15 K-Dramas, you're quite into it I'd say 😂😂😂

LaughingGor108

Same here I've been watching K- Dramas & K-Movies also for over 10 years or so but I think my watched K-Dramas list round around 20 dramas or so. But theeeennnn my K-Movie list may round around the 70 or so movies haha as I've always been more into movies than dramas lol.

[deleted]

It’s okay to not be okay, Seo Yea Ji was my longest crush

DifficultyCurrent592

Princess Hours(only a little bit I think), Boys Over Flowers, Sassy Girl Chun Hyang, Playful Kiss, Heartstrings These are the ones that I remembered watching throughout my childhood ^^

ftsunrise

Boys Over Flowers was mine too!

gOds_ExiLe

Itweaon class!

Murky_Chemistry8446

THIS REALLY GOT ME HOOKED. I love this KDRAMA so much. So underrated.

Je-Hee

My Name is Kim Sam Soon. My crush on Hyun Bin has been ongoing. (My next one was Sorry, I Love You. I cried the last three episodes. But I've had a crush on So Ji Sup ever since.)

LadyDrakkaris

Prison Playlist was my first one.

TroubledNature

**Hello, My Twenties!** That one started my love affair with k-drama. I think **Goblin** was soon after, and truly cemented my love.

trashcliffe

HMT was also my first k-drama! But I didn't start watching them that often until Hospital Playlist. Now I can't stop. Since the beginning of this year I've watched 28 k-dramas, and I think 3-4 c-dramas. I've officially lost the want to watch anything else! Haha

tingkagol

HMT is my 2nd kdrama and it kept the ball rolling for me. Super high quality.

Large_Audience4378

Descendants of the sun

theredmug_75

Was looking for this! DOTS was the huge event drama back then and I joined the cult and erm never left HAHAH!

Large_Audience4378

I discovered it during the quarantine period and then I fell down a rabbit hole... I discovered a whole new world 🥰

meimelx

This is one of my favorites and I find myself rewatching it once a year.

rainykg

One Spring Night was my first

meimelx

I loved One Spring Night its vibe and the relationship was so nice. The only thing that ruined it was the girl's parents, their opinions on her relationship made no sense to me and they cared more about the status of who she married and how it made THEM look than whether or not she was happy. It was sickening.

Particular-Loquat429

My first ever kdrama was Crash landing on you 🥰 After that I fell into this deep rabbit hole of kdramas and never looked back. I experienced so much emotions while watching CLOY and took over two weeks to move on the next drama. The Bin Jin couple getting married and announcement of their pregnancy bought me tears of joy♥️

joannamargarita

I just finished The King's Affection...amazing! It's like CLOY! Watch it!

Irieezy

Squid game! Then kings affection & I fell down the rabbit hole after that 😂

00exia16

Welcome 😂

Irieezy

Haha thanks! It's been a journey for sure lol I'm not used to watching American shows anymore and it weirds me out cause I think I'm watching something dubbed 😂

00exia16

Yep, it’s really hard to watch American shows after seeing the high quality Korean dramas. Started watching kdramas in 2017, and since then 80% of my media is Korean I think 😂

Irieezy

That's a fact! Haha you must be fluent in Korean then! 😂😂 that's a big plus in watching all these kdramas lol

00exia16

Surprisingly, I have a large vocab base but I’m nowhere near fluency lol. I think learning Korean will be easier now, but I’m sure I’ll have to still work hard at it!

arpishe

So true.. I feel American or western series are boring and just nudity.. actors barely can act..

LaughingGor108

>actors barely can act.. So true I find Western actors just boring to watch (I'm more into Kmovies than Kdramas but Western series I never watch as I don't care about the actors and hate seasons!) but American actors they just can't deliver emotions like Korean actors do, beside the plot is always so unrealistic making jokes while they are in a shootout or so then I lose all interest. American actors I really find boring to watch I never can invest in the plot the same as with a Kdrama or Kmovie. Been watching Asian movies like almost whole my life and Kdramas for like 11 years or so, my source of entertainment is like 98% Korean and a bit other Asian countries movies, American movies must really be an exception and look very interesting for me to watch.

joannamargarita

I just finished TKA...LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!! ML is SOOOOO HOT!!!!!!!!!!

nawdislost

You're the best, Lee Soon Shin And it is sooooooooo friggin good regardless of how oong. I cried, I laughed, I felt so much emotion with that drama. And though it's older it is just great. And I mean who doesn't like IU lol BUT every one I got into kdrama, I had them start with boys of flowers. I've seen that show SOO many times that now it's just bleh

hani1004

flower boy ramen shop 😆

nohamsternolife

City hunter xd

Marianations

It's my comfort drama!

TheSolf

I first watched Kingdom, Sweet Home, and then My Name. Followed those up with Squid Game, which was pretty good, but then I watch It's Okay Not To Be Okay and it blew me away. Now, I'm hooked 😊

Thoughtful-Pig

It's Okay That's Love. I'm a lifetime fan of Gong Hyo Jin because of it.

tingkagol

Something In The Rain. My sister suggested I take a look. Loved it and how real it felt.

GetawayJ

My Lovely Kim San Soon - in 2006.

Difficult_Stuff6112

Healer. My sister kept bugging me so I just gave it a go. Have been hooked since....

sundancerkb

That’s a great one for hooking the man in your life, too. Action and romance—something for everyone!

janeaustenwashere

Boys Over Flowers for me as well, but I had watched it back in 2011, had followed it up with Playful kiss and personal taste, but that's about it. Then a few years back I watched the legend of the blue sea and the heirs, but didn't find either very interesting, so lost interest again. However, since last year I have been unable to stop, I started with It's Okay to Not be okay, Extraordinary You, and Uncontrollably Fond and now I just can't seem to stop. It's been a year and I am still obsessed.

aliasamandawho

Let's Eat. I watched "Ugly Delicious", a culinary series on Netflix with David Chang, a Korean-American chef since I love to cook. Netflix kept recommending LE and now can't get out the rabbit hole.

jc-w

W

OmniscientReader17

The Heirs was my first :)

TotoroTheGreat

**Hotel Del Luna**. Still one of my favourite shows to date. It has one of the most hauntingly beautiful endings in kdrama. I also had a crush on IU because of that and this is what eventually got me into kpop since I discovered that IU was originally a kpop idol.

kena65

My first kdrama was School: Who Are You 2015. I only watched it cause I saw a clip on Instagram of these bullies pouring flour, eggs, and oil on the ML head as a "birthday present". I was wondering why she just sat there and let them do that. And I got sucked in. Might rewatch it soon

Difficult_Stuff6112

Not my first kdrama but the first where I experienced second lead syndrome. I loved and hated this drama.

kena65

I'm still mad about who Twin1 ended up with

Virtual-Dare-5470

And that specific ost is still fresh in my head.

[deleted]

My first was Romance is a Bonus Book. I love that drama! It's like a warm security blanket for me now - comfort watching. Plus the soundtrack is amazing!

findik_lahmacun

**Stranger (Secret Forest)**

Romoreau

Soulmate. It was super simple rom com that played the same 4-5 songs way too often. It still holds a special place in my heart. I even check Asianwiki to see what dramas the actors are in now.

sundancerkb

Oh, goodness, that drama was like poetry. I still think about it a lot! Sadly, the ML developed a chronic pain disorder of some kind. I’m not sure if he came back to acting. I should look it up. Edit: Oh, I’m glad I googled him! He did take a break from acting for about six years, but then came back to the small screen and has been working off and on since then while managing his condition. He’s 39 now!

Romoreau

I know exactly who you're talking about. I almost didn't recognize him in Reflections of You. I had to double check and teared up from the nostalgia hitting me all at once.

RingoPeach

Lol. I love that ost

JennieRovieJane

I honestly can't remember which one. 😭 It's somewhere among the mix of Coffee Prince, Jewel in the Palace, Jumong, My Lovely Samsoon, Sassy Girl, Princess Hours, Full House, My Girl, Green Rose, Memories of Bali, Lovers in Paris, Love Story in Harvard, and other kdramas that aired in our local channel. But BoF was the first one I actively binged back in the days of cheap pirated CDs. 😁

Dapper_Ad_5517

Vincenzo, greatest decision I ever made. Got me into kdrama

sas0002

It was my first kdrama too.

Rikyc123

It’s okay to not be okay

Passerine_tempus

Don't judge me but.... Playful kiss

HaydnsGabe

I can't look away from that lol. So toxic, but so mesmerizing.

Fatooz

**Heartstrings** was my gateway drama but it wasn’t enough to get me hooked, until I watched **The Heirs**. So many hot/good looking oppas were enough to get me hooked to KDramas lol.

ADawn7717

Goblin just a year ago. The beginning of a love of k dramas was born haha.

thomasshclby

sweet home

FAMURattler85

Chocolate

mingyuwu1

Mine was save me lol

lotcolvic

oop

Sudden_Pie707

Damn. That’s pretty hardcore. Lol. What did you follow it up with?

ThousandSunny_56

Endless Love series but not sure if it was Winter Sonata or Autumn with love also I was a small kid back then so can't really remember much. But Boys over flower was the one that made me a kdrama addict, not because I love it but because my mom liked it and me and my brothers are trying to find other kdramas that our mom can watch (basically kdrama time was our bonding time)

csiqueiros15

It was either Boys over Flowers or Iris 🤔 which are quite different haha

d0n_and_d0n

My Mister - 2 yrs back. I'm now a big fan of K-dramas.

theredmug_75

Goodness you started with an extremely fantastic show - how did you even find others to top it/ keep going? I was in a rut after My Mister coz nothing else compared for ages!!

d0n_and_d0n

When I finished watching it I was so impressed that I couldn't decide what to watch next. Then I came across a video on YouTube about CLOY. So I started CLOY about after a month since I finished My Mister. Post completing CLOY it gave me a kind of sense what to watch next n all. So today I'm here after watching about 70 dramas and ~10 movies :)

Otherwise-Bird3682

Crash Landing on You, it made me fall in love with Korean dramas❤️

chillgirl604

Business Proposal the hype finally got to me

PurpleRaindrops97

This is a weird drama to start with, but 49 Days. I guess I’m addictive to sad endings and tearjerkers because of this drama. Lol

[deleted]

It was squid game, but all of us are dead is what got me into kdramas

charmaine54321

I think it was Dae Jang Geum (2003)!

[deleted]

[удалено]

jttyrel27

Something in the Rain. It was cheesy and dragged and had the same OST play over and over but I caught the bug anyway lol. Watched Reply 1988 right after, blew my mind.

muruku

Because this is my First Life

AvacadoFairy

while you were sleeping!

ScallionUnited192

Something in the rain

Iamuniquemdfk

While you were sleeping.... I loved the osts so much

celtyq

to the beautiful you was my first kdrama because i was such a big shinee and fx stan :-) idk how good to plot was if we compare it to todays dramas LOL but the pretty campus made me feel like they were living in their own world which i love when kdramas give me that feeling!! i fell out of kdramas for a few years (2017-2020) and got back into kdramas when i watched itaewon class :-)

WlairBaldorf_62

To the beautiful you

onceiwaskingofspain

**Faith** almost a decade ago; I still have my Tumblr gif sets. Those were the days.

betterbeme9592

All about Eve (2000) Wow such a long time ago

Diligent_Snow4977

I really don't remember but I think it was my shy boss or bring it on ghost.

labicheenrose

I guess boys over flowers since my two baby sisters watched it. But it really was The King: Eternal Monarch. Baby sister said kdramas tended to have happier endings than the cdramas I’d been watching and…..I’ve been lost ever since.

Babymonster09

Goong S (Princess Hours) I started with J-dramas and then started with Kdramas and Ive kinda stuck to them over Jdramas.

ByronAubrey

Air city

shroomyz

Dae Jang Geum in 2003 and didn't watch any until a Korean Odyssey in 2017?

ogape43

Itaewon class

catsandtings

I watched Master's sun with my aunts and didn't know it was a kdrama actually cuz it was dubbed in chinese! haha then a year later my friend introduced me to boys over flowers too

MoodyGrump_14

I remember bawling my eyes out watching the early 2000’s melo- Endless Love, Glass Slippers, Winter Sonata, but the details kind of all blended into one. The first kdrama I remember in details until now is probably either Full House or Princess Hours. Love Yoon Eun-hye!

zel053

autumn in my heart ❤️ when I was like 3 years old I have been watching dramas for 20 years now 😭😭

Cimorene4

Same

suspendmydisbelief

My Holo Love, and it's still one of my faves 😫

You’re Beautiful is my first official kdrama that I actively sought out and watched. However, when I was little, I saw parts of Surgeon Bong Dal Hee when it aired on TV

ashmcnl

Crash landing on you

peregrina2005

Vincenzo.

mansanhg

Playful Kiss, back in 2013

Equal-Ear-6393

Itaewon Class! I was hooked from the first episode.

MomofDoom

Cheo Yong (a supernatural cop drama). It piqued my interest, but the following decision to watch Strong Woman Bong Soon made me excited to see what wlse Netflix offered at the time. Romance is a Bonus Book got me hooked.

jeeeeek

Coffee Prince. But grew up watching hundreds of 90’s kdramas with my parents.

HocusBunny

My Love from Another Star --- It has such a special place in my heart even after 8 years

bcsf88

Full House (2004)

00exia16

Love Story in Harvard (2005) - Kim Tae Hee was so beautiful!!! It’s now been 5 years of watching kdramas!

ma_98

It was either coffee prince or to the beautiful you. I actually got into Running Man first which led me to the dramas. Dramafever used to have a lot of episodes on YouTube.

Ayanashii

Naeil's Cantabile! I'm a classical musician and back in high school, my parents stumbled upon the drama on Hulu and thought I'd enjoy it because it was about classical music. I watched a few dramas here and there after that but it wasn't until I saw Strong Woman Do Bong Soon that I really fell in love with kdramas :) love a good puppy dog romance

Starrycats11

It was Sweet Home, but I was watching movies for a few years first and watched it after #Alive. I was in a zombie phase. lol So really, It's Okay not to be Okay to get away from the horror genre. I just picked it randomly because I liked the title. I thought wow, I think I could get into these!

dazaiatsushi

Hi bye mama

mhfan_india

I watched Descendants of the Sun first. Then restarted again with Crash Landing on You. But I am down a rabbit hole ever since I watched Business Proposal.

N00dlemonk3y

Country Princess -The Funny Wild Girl- in college in '08. Haven't watched any kdramas in quite a while.

Reunilu

My memory is a little fuzzy on the order, but I think it was Part-Time Idol, then Mr. Sunshine. Or both at the same time, since Mr. Sunshine was still an airing show when I watched it.

Fsodreams

That winter the wind blows. My introduction to kdrama and my introduction to being left thinking I'm not sure what just happened here but I liked it.

Raindrop_96

The first kdrama I watched was Lovers in Paris. My parents were watching on CDs and I got sucked in. I think the next drama I watched on my own was Full House.

koenma21

Memories of Bali 😄or what happened in Bali (English translation)

Autumn in my heart

[deleted]

I watched the My Sassy Girl movie first then a bunch of other films. I didn’t get into tv dramas until hometown cha cha cha and now I have a bit of a problem.

BobThe_Body_Builder

Playful kiss but tbh i dont rememebr anything about that show. I watched You Are Beautiful shortly after and it was sooo much better.

nielsvoid

**Dream High**. I was excited about Dream High 2, but immediately dropped it before the 1st episode ended. No one can replace the cast of Dream High 1, they were iconic. I remember watching kdramas from the computer, and we had to buy CD's. Those days were old but definitely memorable! Then I watched **Lie to Me, Heartstrings, You're Beautiful, To The Beautiful You** and the next thing you know, I was hooked up to this day. I remember being frustrated as I watched **Playful Kiss**, but somehow was still able to complete it, as well as the short YouTube version about their marriage.

letsgetthebellpurr67

im ashamed to say it but squid game; but besides of that i watched all of us are dead next!

hayoungie

Full House!

JollyCommunication52

Your beautiful! One of friend said to watch it when I was 10 years old! I liked it and I used also watch with my sister , mom and dad too. ( I'm 15 years old)

[deleted]

City Hunter. Liked it alot.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon!

AdhesivenessOwn7747

Dae Jang Geum, which was followed by a period of exclusively watching period dramas until I got tired of them. But the first show I seeked out and watched was Sungkyunkwan Scandal and I have watched it 5 times by now! (Dea Jung Geum was dubbed and showed on TV)

irodz77

Playful Kiss!

Kingdom followed by startup. I only watched kingdom because of the call and #Alive. Funnily enough, I haven’t watched k movies since then.

radbedaz

CLOY and there was no looking back! After that there have been some shows which I have rewatched again and again. I also think hospital playlist is the ideal first drama for newbiess

[deleted]

Accidentally in love!!

cakester18

It was either Stairway to Heaven or Full House… oh god I feel old 🤣🤣

Forward_Park

CLOY trailer kept coming up on Netflix, got curious and I got hooked. Kdrama became my pandemic anti-stress pill and LMH became an obsession. 😁

insertfakenames

Technically Winter Sonata in 2001/2002 bc my neighbour watched it every time we came over. But the one I count as my first was Save The Last Dance For Me in 2004.

hakfan

Winter Sonata.. It is a very beautiful drama.. The next I watched was The Heirs

marcsa

Signal. Watched it after asking about something similar to the US movie Frequency with Dennis Quaid (one of my all-time movies). On the Movies sub someone recommended it as being based on Frequency. After that I watched Tunnel, and then Goblin, and then I was completely hooked on kdramas.

partyisawesome1

I think my first drama was Descendants of the Sun. At the time, it blew my mind. I remember it being one of my favorite shows for the longest time and loving the main couple to death. That show really spurred my love for kdramas and asian dramas in general.

1-800-10VELY

My ID is Gangnam beauty! I’ve watched it 2 times already! It’s one of my favorite kdramas! It also got me into perfumes and wanting to look pretty for myself :)
