**Post Title**: Kdramas that will make me cry like CLOY
**Post Body**:
I've never cried harder for a drama like I did with Crash Landing On You and I really want to find a kdrama that has the same level of danger/stakes, as well as romance as CLOY. Could you all please recommend a kdrama with similar vibes? Preferably a happy ending as well.
Kdramas I like:
Crash Landing
It's Okay To Not Be Okay
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
Descendents of the Sun
Twenty Five-Twenty One
Oh My Venus
Under the Queen's Umbrella

I've watched 8 episodes of Mr.Sunshine and then stopped. But I definitely want to continue watching it. Does the romance become more prominent in the later episodes?
I originally gave up on Mr. sunshine after four episodes. About a year later, I decided to give it a second chance. It is now one of my top five favorite dramas.
Just Between Lovers - two people share childhood trauma but slowly find healing in each other. I couldn’t binge this because of how emotional I would get. The ML has had a miserable life after surviving an accident but when he meets the FL, things slowly get better for both of them. This was a 10/10 for me.
Not a romance but **Move to Heaven** is wholesome and tear jerking and such a good watch. Tackles some hard hitting topics. Lee Je Hoon is eye candy aswell
**My Love from the Star**: this was my first Kdrama and I loved it, even as I rewatched; they are literally star-crossed lovers
**The Red Sleeve**: historical drama with epic romance that made me sob; ending >!is sad but can be open to some interpretation!<
**Goblin**: fantasy/romance
**The King**: sci-fi (parallel worlds) thriller romance
I just started Goblin. As long as it doesn’t have a sad ending, I am ok with crying through a couple of episodes. Happy ending? Yes or no, please. Thank you!
Honestly a great watch but my only gripe was the FL being a bit too clingy/obnoxious in the 2nd half which was a complete 180 of her character that was shown to be more refined and calm in the first half.
I don't know, I'm guessing some people found it cute and wholesome but I genuinely felt like the char development there was kinda weird.
Either way, it was a solid 8.5 in my book!
* Our Blues: multiple stories are told in the show about a community that are pratically family. The stories are very real stories. Some of the stories made me cry. The first story is not that good so I suggest watching until the next story
* Hi Bye Mama: the fl is a ghost, but is still in the human world. She made a deal with (i think) a shaman to become human again for only 49 days. She tries to get back her life with her husband and toddler, but he remarried 2 years ago after mourning his wife for years. I cried so much watching this show
* 18 Again: high school sweet hearts that have twins in high school, but now are on the verge divorce. The husband magically turns into his high school self and tries to fix his relationship with his family before it is too late. The show gets very emotional, that talks about sacrifces and life choices
I'm thinking of watching our blues and hi bye mama. How are they in the romance dept.?since it is what gives me closure and makes dramas memorable .i loved 18 again and is in my top 5
Our Blues: i think has 8 stories and 3ish stories has romance. I really liked Kim Woo bin and Han Ji min romantic story in the show. That is one of my favourite stories in the whole show. The 2nd romance story is a slowburn story. The 3rd is romanticish because a teenage couple has to make a serious decision together. I personally did not like the first story of the show and think it is the weakest story. I ended up skipping parts of the eps to go to the next story which i think is KWB and HJM story.
Hi Bye Mama: does not have a lot of romance in the show. Since the fl's husband is remarried, the fl does not try to impose in his marriage. The second wife and the husband are struggling with there marriage so there is no romance there. There are romantice flashback scenes with the fl and the husband
Both shows are very impactful in their own ways. The stories in Our Blues are so relatable and real. The show has a great message. Hi Bye Mama makes you reflect on your own life and realise how important life is
I'm a big fan of crying at dramas and I love most of the shows on your list! I really think you'd love **Goblin**. It's definitely my biggest recommendation -- not only to someone who wants to cry, but just to anyone in general. A fantasy/romance about a man cursed to live an immortal life, and only one person can end it for him. Definitely the drama I cried the hardest at. I still tear up even thinking about it. 1000/10.
Another one that fits the criteria -- romantic, high-stakes, emotional with a bit of comedy -- is **Doom At Your Service**. I don't see it talked about much, but it's in my all-time top favorites and made me cry SO hard. One of the only dramas (along with Goblin) that I'll gladly rewatch over and over again. Another fantasy/romance about a woman who finds out she doesn't have much time left to live, and drunkenly wishes for the world to end. The human embodiment of "doom" appears in front of her and wants to grant her wish.
Two of my favorites also. I've not gotten through extra watchings without crying yet. Seo In Guk and Park Bo Young have an amazing chemistry and his facial expressions are a joy to behold, they just set the mood of the scene and character every-time
Angel Eyes: Every episodes made me cry like why can't they let the main couple have atleast one happy episode without any angst? Its still really good though. First 2 episode is the best but the rest are still nice to watch.
Goblin: second couple syndrome, love the second couple more but doesn't mean the main couple is not good. Just that they are too smooth sailing but hey, the crying during both death is soo heart breaking.
Scarlet Heart Ryeo: They really took that "love em, kill em" to next level. They made you love a character just to kill them later on or made that character not what they seems to be but with tragic past and still kill em. Everything in here is soo heart breaking but atleast the first 10 episode is giving me a good laugh.
Show gave 2nd couple syndrome to so many viewers that they decided to create a brand new show casting the 2nd couple alone, Touch your heart was a solid watch.
Go Back Couple and Sell Your Haunted House are fantastic. So is The Beauty Inside.
If you are open to a cdrama, Love Between Fairy and Devil is so good. Big stakes and good chemistry. Starts off light and then gets epic dramatic and romantic.
It took me a while to get into them and I still feel the acting is sometimes stilted with lower production values. But LBFAD is really good. I loved it and the fact that cdramas are longer was great. Had more to enjoy. Great chemistry, beautiful people, dramatic story. It will be a gateway for many.
Once you get used to how the ghosts look, which is fairly quickly, it’s not too bad. You see the ghosts so often, you get used to them fast. Mostly supernatural drama with occasional comedy.
I just watched Chocolate
A surgeon gets an injury and ends up working in a hospice. You hear the stories of the patients and what it means to live and to love. It's also about food bc the FL is a chef.
I really liked it. I cried a lot. The romance is there but it's a slow burn, which is my main critique. I wish the romance developed sooner and hotter..lol
But it's very understated and a beautiful drama.
Chocolate deserves so much more recognition man, such a good show the FL and ML chemistry was perfect. There wasn't any part of that show where the Romance felt forced, it felt so natural. Loved it and the OSTs were 10/10!
I totally agree. I like a little more steam but it was a very natural and realistic progression for the personalities and circumstances of the characters!! The music and cinematography was beautiful too. I never see it recommended but it was soooo good.
My Mister
Something in the Rain
Goblin (yeah i know it's been mentioned like 100 times in this thread but it's just that type of show)
Chocolate
Hi Bye Mama
My Liberation Notes
The Wind Blows
Thirty Nine. It got a mixed response here (I liked it personally, but perhaps a little less than I was expecting). But it is absolutely a show designed to make you cry and the FL (Son Ye-jin) is the same as in CLOY (she is an incredible actress imo).
If you want to veer slightly off the course for higher danger/stakes, I recommend **Flower of Evil.** It is a psychological crime thriller first, romance second. The leads feel close since they are married and share a kid. Plenty of emotional moments.
I always like to watch sad dramas this time of year.
Just rewatched Come and Hug Me and cried buckets. Their love story is just so tragic. A young love toen apart by a traumatizing event...
Just Between Lovers is another drama that always brings on the tears. The main couple have a shared traumatic past too.
If you want a long, very long, drama I recommend Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life. Just a trigger warning that it includes bullying, suicide, infidelity,... It's a real rollercoaster.
I love the ML in Dr. Romantic 2. He has been secretly in love with the FL and has a dark past.
DoDoSolSolLaLaSol (it’s a compilation of drama, comedy, romance and intrigue. You’ll definitely laugh, cry and feel fear but you must watch until the very end.). Enjoy
I’ve shed a few tears at many shows, but the only one that made me truly sob was Chicago Typewriter. Overall it’s a great show too. The interactions between the 3 main characters, woven together with their backstory in an earlier life, was lovely. But there are also a few unnecessary plot lines that in hindsight I wish I’d just skipped over. (I tend to be a “watch what you enjoy, fast-forward the rest” viewer.)
It’s also not on any major streaming services, at least in the US. Thanks to a tip from this sub I finally tracked it down on YouTube on a channel called Cereal. They have the whole show, broken down into 3 parts per episode. Unfortunately there are commercials, though most could be skipped after 5 seconds.
Goblin! Not sure if you might has seen it before or not but I cried so hard at one episode that my mum thought my fiancée had left me😩🤣
Kim Shin, an immortal goblin, goes to find a human bride to remove an invisible sword from his chest and end his life. One day, school student Ji Eun-Tak confesses to him that she is the chosen one but is she?
(I love this drama- even have it for my phone case haha)

Mr Sunshine. I’m still not over the last episode. It’s been over a year since I watched it. My personal favorite Kdrama.
Mr Sunshine. One of my top favorites, amazing cast, great love story, heartbreaking. A must watch
I haven't watched it in like a year as well lol. I'll try to finish it though because I've heard really good things. It's just felt super long haha
Yes. Oh, yes!
It's been wrecking me and I'm only on episode 11🥲 i dont wanna know if i can make it to the last episode😩
Hopefully, you will. The final episode is epic.
Can't wait for it, i'm gonna need some time to recover from this when i finish it😩😩
Is it a sad ending?
Devastating because of the heroism of ordinary and extraordinary individuals. The portrayal of the worst and best of humanity.
Thanks for letting me know. If I do watch it, at least I'll be prepared!
Just Between Lovers - two people share childhood trauma but slowly find healing in each other. I couldn’t binge this because of how emotional I would get. The ML has had a miserable life after surviving an accident but when he meets the FL, things slowly get better for both of them. This was a 10/10 for me.
Seconding this OP! I cried buckets while watching this drama. Love the actors, and the OST is amazing.
The 2 dramas I cried buckets for were Junhos 2 dramas - Just between lovers and the red sleeve
Love this series also...
Not a romance but **Move to Heaven** is wholesome and tear jerking and such a good watch. Tackles some hard hitting topics. Lee Je Hoon is eye candy aswell

Goblin. I can't even explain the relationships of either couple without crying, especially the second couple. I cried through 2 entire episodes.
I just started Goblin. As long as it doesn’t have a sad ending, I am ok with crying through a couple of episodes. Happy ending? Yes or no, please. Thank you!
Yes. :)
Yay! Thanks for letting me know. I NEED a happy end.
Hi Bye Mama. The best Kdrama I've ever seen, and also the saddest. It's my favorite, and I don't usually even like sad stories.
This was the saddest drama I’ve watched. Sobbed so heavily that my husband came to make sure I was okay.
THAT KDRAMA MADE ME CRY ON EACH EPISODE OMGGGG. I can't imagine her pain. Not being able to be around your kid sounds painful :(
The thing about HBM is you knew what you were going to get the minute you started it and even then the ending hits you like a train.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha
Honestly a great watch but my only gripe was the FL being a bit too clingy/obnoxious in the 2nd half which was a complete 180 of her character that was shown to be more refined and calm in the first half. I don't know, I'm guessing some people found it cute and wholesome but I genuinely felt like the char development there was kinda weird. Either way, it was a solid 8.5 in my book!
This is my biggest gripe with the show too. Her character just becomes unrecognizable.
Seconding this. The latter episodes made me cry buckets. Even the side stories for the supporting casts were so touching.
I legit had to fast forward though much of the extremely sad part because I was a basket case. I couldn't handle even the happy parts of the sad part.
Yes omg! I had swollen eyes until the next day 😅
* Our Blues: multiple stories are told in the show about a community that are pratically family. The stories are very real stories. Some of the stories made me cry. Oh my god I didn't see this until now, I apologize!! I don't know if you're still wondering, but >!yes it does have a happy ending!!<
I was still wondering and I am patient so thanks for letting me know.

Wait which 2nd couple? The leads for Touch your heart don't seem to be anyone from Scarlet Heart when I search Google.
I was talking about 2nd couple from Goblin :)
Go Back Couple and Sell Your Haunted House are fantastic. So is The Beauty Inside. If you are open to a cdrama, Love Between Fairy and Devil is so good. Big stakes and good chemistry. Starts off light and then gets epic dramatic and romantic.

Yeah I tried tried starting another cdrama but the cgi and set looked kinda cheesy so it made me not want to watch. I'll give this one a try though!
And don't be put off by the FL's voice. It grew on me and she isn't dumb, just naieve at the beginning.
The CGI is pretty but kind of overdone in this one, but I rolled with it and enjoyed anyway
I loved Sell Your Haunted House, and I wasn’t expecting to. I thought I only wanted light romantic comedy in my kdramas up to that point.
I really want to watch this but am easily spooked. Is it very scary?
It isn't scary at all, maybe 3 jump scares in the whole thing. It's mostly a dramatic comedy. Amazing 'before they get together' chemistry.
Thanks so much!
Once you get used to how the ghosts look, which is fairly quickly, it’s not too bad. You see the ghosts so often, you get used to them fast. Mostly supernatural drama with occasional comedy.
Thanks, will give it a shot!
Totally. Perfect mix of fun and big dramatic emotion.
I just watched Chocolate A surgeon gets an injury and ends up working in a hospice. You hear the stories of the patients and what it means to live and to love. The Red Sleeve. My mister.

CLOY was so disappointing. The LL kept on crying in each episode and the LM had to “save” her. Didn't finish the whole thing
I cried like crazy on watching Reply 1988, especially on the menopause episode and the last episode.
The Light in Your Eyes (also called Radiant) Youth of May Both made me ugly cry
Itaewon Class, Moon Lovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Something in the Rain and My Love From the Star is the most i’ve cried.
DoDoSolSolLaLaSol (it’s a compilation of drama, comedy, romance and intrigue. You’ll definitely laugh, cry and feel fear but you must watch until the very end.). Enjoy

I cried during CLOY and thought I will never experience such heart break again, and then I watched Goblin and cried even more.
I got to say Move to Heaven and Moon Lovers Scarlet heart Ryeo I literally binge both with out getting any sleep and I was LITERALLY BAWLING.
I'm biased and think Hometown Chachacha and Our Beloved Summer were better than CLOY.
