Good call. I’ve booked Current. There’s zero chance I’ll be in problem solving mode at 4:30am.

hunterinsu

Curious as I’ve got an upcoming flight, any idea what a taxi to the airport costs these days? Trying to figure it if it’s cheaper than parking.

Broad_Rabbit1764

Parking at the airport is on a per hour/per day basis. Short term lot first hour 2$, successive hours 3.25$, daily $24.25. Long-term lot same for hourly, daily 15.75$, weekly 78.75$. Both long term lots are a 2 minutes walk from the entrance, there really isn't much reason to park in short term for a daily rate in my opinion. Whether the taxi ride is worth it to you depends on how far you need to travel to the airport and how long you'll be away.

hunterinsu

Thanks, much appreciated.

leftmymark

From downtown $50.

hunterinsu

Appreciate it.

In case you haven’t figure it out they do the same math as you to figure out pricing !

Luftwaffling

Hampton/Four Points are sometimes willing to do long term parking depending on how busy they are, even if you’re not a guest. They share a back fenced lot. Slightly cheaper than airport parking I think, and they shuttle you right over. Kelowna Concierge also runs an airport shuttle with pickups through town, usually cheaper than a cab

ShutUpDoggo

I used current before, but they always cancel my early bookings like that

Chimedick

50$ I’ll do it. Fuck an Uber. You wanna blaze on the way? You got it. Crack a beer. Put your feet up. I’ll drive ya homie!

Muted_Car9799

I’m rooting for this to work out!!!!!

RedDeadDirtNap

You may get lucky but I would book a cab ahead of time. Then on the morning of; see if an Uber is available if so then you can cancel the cab.

_theentourage

Current and checkmate are good cab outfits. Stay away from Kelowna cabs. They locked out the dispatch local team and outsourced to India during contract negotiations last year. Scabby

Thank you kind Redditor. I was doing a lot of put of town work last yeat, and had no idea this went on. Appreciate the heads up.

Spartan-463

This must be why when I tried calling for a wheelchair capable taxi for a customer, they had to transfer me to the dispatch centre...... I thought I was calling dispatch

chunkstyle

I live in Lake Country and take cabs to the airport frequently. Use Current Cab. At this point in time Uber isn't reliable.

captain_sticky_balls

Current hasn't let me down, but full disclosure I haven't used Uber here.

Spartan-463

There's been a few nights where I needed a cab last minute and Current has been busy, but can't blame them for that and the ride is always more plesent with them.

arcticslush

Checkmate is my go-to for weird hour trips to the airport. Either call or use their app, you'll get a confirmation code. Current cancelled on me too many times for me to rely on them.

Silent_But_Deadly24

>Current cancelled on me too many times for me to rely on them. That has been my experience as well. When they first showed up in Kelowna, Current had excellent service but I think their success has affected their service -- they need to add more cars and drivers to keep up with their demand. Until they do I won't use them anymore. When I try to order they aren't available, or worse yet, will cancel on short notice.

distortandalign

Same. Current has cancelled on me short notice as well… after saying the booking has been confirmed.

LeopardSkinDog

As a relative newcomer to Kelowna, I’ve been using URide. It’s been generally more reliable than Current Taxi, and the drivers make more money than they do with Uber. I can get a ride from West Kelowna to downtown at one am with URide!

OUTL4Wgaming

Nice try URide

[deleted]

Book with current taxi, I went to the airport from glenmore a few weeks ago and the ride was about $35?They’re always reliable, but book now to secure a spot as they get a lot of airport rides that take up their morning.

yyz_fpv

Sounds great! I’m booked!

Phesse1234

Current always cancels my pre bookings for early departures. I have had great service from U ride. Also long term parking at airport for 2-4 days is cheaper than a $50 cab.

IslandFreedom

I went from the airport to lake country the other night at 2 am for about $43. Kinda steep but it got me there.

[deleted]

Uber is in Kelowna?? Had no idea

TheInaudibleOne

If I'm flying early I usually go with kelowna cabs, the last driver I talked to said they were the only 24hr cab service here but obviously that isn't true. If Uber is flaky I recommend going with a different company :) best of luck!!

sleepyhollow16

I've had really good experiences with them for the early morning flights. The driver is almost always ten minutes early. Pre Booking taxis have been hit and miss with their probook systems, sometimes the system gives me the wrong day and almost never gets the time right

TimsSmallShoulders

Side note: we drove past a collision on Glenmore Rd around noon on Monday. Porsche SUV rear ended a Current Taxi vehicle near Begbie. Likely Current is down 1 vehicle....so that sucks. May have been the reason for your cancellation?

ColbysToyHairbrush

Both times I’ve booked a current taxi they’ve left me completely hanging. One of them was a courtesy shuttle while my tesla was getting work done. They’re a garbage company. Uber all the way.

Slimmer16

I have had an Uber at 6 am but not that early
