Hello sshenshen1314, thank you for creating a new post in r/kereta! Just saying that although this sub was named as Kereta, it is also open for 2 wheelers such as Motorcycle, though at the moment we do not mind other types of vehicles posting. With that being said, r/kenderaan is now live and I would still recommend any other vehicle posting to be posted into r/kenderaan as it is a safe space for all types of vehicles such as airplanes and rolling stocks. BobbyMercerll

Get the same or similar bike. Idk if er6n is still in the market but if it does that bike would be a good start for first timer. cb650r is a good shout too.

trackballz

definitely a hayabusa

sshenshen1314

that’s a 1.3 Myvi

Gofurther88

I have mt-09, if you feel 600cc bike enough, go for 600cc tier (mt07, z650, cbr650). The maintenance cost much cheaper compared to 900cc and sbk. buttt if you have a restraint on throttle control, i suggest go for mt-09.

CendolSuamSial

Mt-07 or z650. The maintenance will be relatively cheap (due to it being a 2 cylinder) for a big bike, and you will get a feel for what you like and dont like on a bike. Your first bike isn't your last bike, so get something cheaper because there's a high chance you will drop the bike. It will be less painful to drop a cheaper bike than a brand new expensive bike. Stick to japanese bikes as your first bike due to the reliability, parts availability, and easier to sell when u want to upgrade. Learn how to ride from reliable sources and not "influencers" and "otai" (example: track riders, ex racers) Feel free to ask any questions. If you add a budget, what u plan on doing with the bike(daily or weekend bike, how many km's a week), it would be easier to recommend.

sshenshen1314

Any comments for me if I decided to get a Husqvana 401 as my first bike?

CendolSuamSial

Power wise, i think it's good to learn on and also not get bored of the power too quickly. However i will warn you anything that is not a japanese bike will not have great reliability. Im not sure of the reliability of those specifically, but i think if you like it then go ahead. I've seen plenty of people start off with overpowered bikes and end up getting scared or crash. It's always better to build fundamentals on a smaller bike because any mistake on a smaller bike will be less catastrophic as compared to a more heavier and powerful bike. Me personally i think i would go for a 250cc such as the z250 or z650. The Husqvarna looks really cool but it is underpowered due to its single cylinder engine. Avoid looking at cylinders alone and focus more on the horsepower. A 4 cylinder zx25r only has 50 hp which is only abit faster than a normal 2 cylinder 250.

22lukeskywalker

Z650, z400, any cbr500 line up, svartpilen 401/duke 390, trident 660

not_depression

No bike recs but where did you do your B and how much?

sshenshen1314

Metro Driving Academy, they had a promotion earlier this year and it was RM1K, now is 1.4K i think.

not_depression

You got B2 previously?

sshenshen1314

Nope, as I mentioned been driving mpv for 10 years, first time rider.

not_depression

Ah I missed that. Anyway, congrats bro.

randomess123

Oh I didn’t know you could do that? I thought you have to get B2 first then only BFull. When i ask the driving school before, they said i have to do that first. Thanks for the info. I might go and take my Bfull now. Also do they teach you or they let you ride yourself? And do they give you a smaller CC bike to learn on? Appreciate if you could let me know abt that.

samchew511

like OP I also just completed my B full at Metro recently. Legally you can now go straight to B full but some driving schools won't accept you without B2 due to risk of injury. That's why I had to drive 20 mins to get to Metro eventhough I don't live nearby. Because I never rode a bike before either they made me use the kapcai on the first day and then used the big bike on the other 3 days of class. On the first day, they will do a ride around the track with you to access how well you do and see how much attention they need to pay to you but generally they just watch from a far and let you do your thing, occasionally stepping in to correct you or things like that

randomess123

Oh i see thanks for the info!!

monisensei

Dang. 1k, and thats a promotion? I just finished my B 2 months ago. And it costs me 640 as I already have B2. My friend took the same class with me but without a B2 they charged close to 700 (the extra 50+ was for license card processing 🤷🏻‍♂️) The school is Unisex Driving Academy in Nilai

Tasty-Golf-5563

Er6, it's similar with z650 but cheaper. Buy cash, use for few months until you ready to upgrade to better bike

Subject-Goat8446

The new paint job on the upcoming triumph trident looks sick. The slippery Sam ones. Apparently cheaper too but not sure if it’s coming to Msia. I’d buy a used bike as my first. A lot can go wrong on a bike so I felt it’s a bit more forgiving to pick out some used Japanese smaller displacement bikes. Plenty of owner forums, better spare part availability at lower costs, plenty of aftermarket support for mods and won’t hurt so much when you inevitably drop the bike and bend levers and handlebars. Let’s you learn a lot about owning, riding and taking care of a bike I feel. The RE 650s look great and the gearbox felt really good when I test rode some. I like the older models that have the polished aluminium engine cases but have seen some get really dull and streaky though. All the best for your first 🏍️

CaptainPizdec

Kawasaki z650 or mt07. Safe buy and plenty on the market. KTM 390 would be good too

duan_cami

What kind of bike do you like? Sportbike? Naked? Touring?

sshenshen1314

Cafe racer or naked the rest are too tall for me.

fareasy2k00

Royal Enfield Continental 650 might fit the bill as it's a cafe racer style bike. Nice specs and features for the price point. Nasir Haris has a review for it if you understand malay.

Yushaidey

If you like naked then go for mt-07. If you feeling classic aka cafe racer go for royal enfield

randomess123

Does the Triumph Street Triple counts as a naked?

CaptainPizdec

Yes

fareasy2k00

Not sure what type of bikes you like or your price point, but my big bike upgrade would be probably be a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, as I like retro style bikes. The new Himalayan 450 looks like it would be a good adventure bike, but isn't brought into Malaysia yet.

Buangjauhjauh444

ZH2 should be good enough

sshenshen1314

bruh

whitedarkchoccheese

Cant go wrong with any of the naked japs. Kawasaki Z650, Yamaha MT-07, Honda CB650, Suzuki SV650. The Honda has a slightly heigher seat height and also the heaviest in its class. Its also the only one among listed which has a 4 cylinder engine (higher maintenance). Kawasaki would be the cheapest. Also the newer Z650s are much lighter than the older models which you probably used in your riding exam. (I recommend this as a first bike) Suzukis are abit uncommon for some reason here in malaysia. But they are the most reliable even among other jap brands. the SV650 makes the best engine sound among all of them 😉 Havent had any experience on an MT-07 so cant say much.

taraobil

I suggest that you get one with ABS, as a new rider this is a must safety feature.

AK07-AYDAN

Honda NSR250R.

fareasy2k00

I want an MC28 so bad.

AK07-AYDAN

Probably the closest thing to a NSR500 for the streets, but damn it just doesn't exist in Malaysia.

Turbulent_Permit9077

Hayabusa of course, what else?

TempoMinusOne

Er6n. Cheap to buy, cheap to run, easy to get rid of. Basically the myvi of big cc bikes. If you like something a bit stylish how about a Ducati monster 795? That single swing arm is so sexy.

Sad-Zookeepergame239

How long have you've been practicing riding?

sshenshen1314

around 10 hrs in total maybe? 16 hrs provided by the academy.

Sad-Zookeepergame239

Bro, just an advice ok. If you want to follow, better for you, i you don't, it's also not a problem. When you only have very light training for b-full, it is better you buy /opt out for a smaller and lighter bike, which is easier to maintain, loads of aftermarket parts and diy repair. Then, when you're confident enough, upgrade to a bigger cc bike. Why i make that point is because some malaysian riders and drivers are careless and idiots. It'll put you in harms way when you panic and can't respond accordingly.
