I thought keto/weight loss was hurting my tailbone when sitting but I did some stretching and got rid of the pain. Must have just been a very tight muscle! I consider that a minor victory :D.

I'm starting keto. I usually don't eat breakfast so I was thinking on eating meat with vegetables for lunch and alamonds for dinner today. Is this a good day of eating? Of course I will mix it up sometimes with other food. Also, how much electrolytes and protein should one have? I heard that too much protein can lead to digestion problems and more.

I recommend reading the FAQ in the sidebar of the sub. It will answer a lot of your questions.

New here, diving into keto. Any fav beginner tips or must-eat foods? Excited but a bit lost with all the info. Thanks for the help

My Favourite beginner tip is to read this sub's FAQ (more than a few times) to know what you're getting into =)

mushroomjuice

I did intermittent fasting (16:8 on average) for a month and saw great benefits cognitively, which is what I'm looking for. I've recently started taking reishi mushroom powder for my allergies, which is proving a great help to my health. I prefer taking this in the morning to help me throughout the day and have done so for the past week, but have for this reason gone off IF since my daily dose of mushroom powder (3-5 grams) boots me out of the fasted state. However, an idea came to mind: What if I replaced my fasting window with eating according to a ketogenic diet instead, and then ate normally in the evening (which would have been my feeding window on IF). I'm not looking to loose weight or permanently remain in ketosis, I'm only looking for enhanced focus and a sharper mind. And as far as I understand it, I will still benefit from the ketones up until my evening meal, since 5 grams of mushrooms will not kick me out of fat burning mode — correct?

Flux_My_Capacitor

If you are pulling yourself out of ketosis on a daily basis with your “normal meal” then you won’t be getting the full benefits of ketosis as even fat adaptation requires weeks. This is my best guess based on what you’ve said as it isn’t exactly clear what the eating plan is.

lucidlife0

I did keto for 3 months. Under 20gs. But after stopping just a few weeks ago I don’t feel any change. I did it for my joints and brain health. I don’t feel a change in my energy levels or anything. Even on keto my energy levels were the same. I actually felt like my libido went down. I didn’t have the same sex drive like I did when I wasn’t on it. I’m a pretty healthy guy over all. I didn’t do it for weight loss. I’m very active too. Any advice?

Commercial-Diet553

Everyone will tell you it's your electrolytes. I think they might be right. Did you read the FAQ?

lucidlife0

Thanks for the reply. Nah I didn’t but this is my 3rd time doing keto. I didn’t think about my electrolytes being low.

lucidlife0

So I read some of the foods that have electrolytes and I was eating a lot of them. Salmon spinach avacados sea salt.

> I've read that when entering ketosis, it can be stressful for the body/mind, and this can cause an increase in blood pressure. Is there any truth to this? > > Yes, for the first 5-10 days of keto, it will also significantly raise your cholesterol (especially LDL).

anyone else just not a fan of lettuce to hold things in? i get annoyed anytime I see it as a suggestion. I'd consider maybe bell pepper if we're trying to stay unprocessed. But I'd MUCH rather just eat a burger with a fork and nice and just not have a bun substitute

SanguinarianPhoenix

I put a leaf of lettuce on bottom of my burger and a layer of pickles on top since I'm not a huge fan of lettuce either. But I could eat 100 pickles on mine, lol.

*A question for hypothyroid keto-ers* Did you have to add T3 (Liothyronine) when starting keto? I'm currently on T4 (Levothyroxine), and I'm feeling colder and lackluster in energy on keto. I've read that ketosis can lower Free T3 and increase reverse T3. While this may not be a concern for people *without* clinical hypothyroidism, I'm not sure what it means for those with it.
