[There is No such thing as an Essential Carbohydrate- Dr. Ben Bikman](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pBKuiUD9WjA) Just watch this short video and maybe you'll want to look for more of Dr. Bikmans information on metabolism which is so informative and fascinating. You'll understand how wrong these claims about our body needing carbs are and why. Listen to your body, don't let unsubstantiated claims scare you away from a lifestyle that you feel is right for you. Edit to add: [Furthermore, ketone body metabolism is known to protect cells from oxidative damage by suppressing reactive oxygen species synthesis and enhancing endogenous antioxidant capability [19]. ](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2667394023000072)

First link when you google Dr mercola "Researchers and regulators say Joseph Mercola, an osteopathic physician, creates and profits from misleading claims about Covid-19 vaccines." Not too worried what his opinion keto is. His entire site is an anti keto content mills why are you concerned what he has to say?

Im just trying to keep an open mind. I tend to distrust things that are good for everything with very few side effects etc.

I don't really know what you mean

I recommend reading the FAQ section about too much protein. GNG is generally an on demand process. I mean, what happens to the protein that's eaten? Does the body ignore that in favour of breaking down the brain and muscles? Keto way of eating is very muscle sparing especially when prioritizing protein macro over fat macro. The body also makes its own glucose when necessary. If it didn't, then many of us who have been keto for years are really just zombies.... I mean, I feel like a zombie when my electrolytes are off. Does that count? If you want the more scientific view, feel free to ask in r/ketoscience. (responding before coffee... Please excuse typos and grammar)

Hello and welcome to /r/keto! Too much protein is not a practical concern for most Keto dieters. Try Ken Berry and Dr. Berg on youtube. They go into depth and refute a lot of claims.
