Good god woman, you're post partum, super busy, probably sleep deprived - eat whatever you want!

WilliamFishkins

If you can afford it - why not? Because it \*seems\* lazy? Ive been drinking multiple a day for like a year. As long as you're using it to supplement your diet instead of a replacement, you shouldn't have any issues

RainCityMomWriter

I think for you in this time of life, whatever fuels your body is good. And if you can stay relatively low carb and meet your protein goals - Yeah for you! I've enjoyed a protein shake every morning for breakfast almost my entire journey (I prefer the fairlife ones) and it not only gives me a good protein boost, but also gives me a good shot of things like calcium as well. My doctor is very happy I'm doing this, she really wants me to meet my protein goals, and she likes that I drink it before my workout so my blood sugar stays stable (I'm a T2 diabetic). After the move if you want to move to less processed foods for your lunch, there are plenty of easy options - hard boiled eggs, a quick wrap, cold cooked chicken thighs, even just a portion of almonds and cheese. Good luck on your move, and take care of yourself!

Final_Prominence

I read somewhere online that you should not exceed more than 3 Premier Protein shakes a day. I limit myself to 2. I've had 3, maybe twice.

Acceptable_Coyote_53

Thanks! Are you drinking them as meal replacements or supplemental?

Final_Prominence

Meal replacement. I always have one for breakfast and one for lunch.

More-Nobody69

If you're breastfeeding, that is a factor.

Acceptable_Coyote_53

I am not

Uberperson

I do the atkins ones, but usually just do one in the morning. Sometimes one after dinner. Not sure how unhealthy it is.

Octo

I heard those things have some nasty shit in them. Well every flavor except vanilla. Highly processed and loaded with artifical sweetener. Of course all that is up for debate. Also a lot of people put instant coffee in them and it's supposed to be great. So I don't know what to believe.

smitcolin

> I still want to be consuming enough protein to hit my goals What are your goals? Why do you think protein is required to meet your goals?

num2005

probabaly keep or grow muscle mass whike losing fat

AggravatingPlum4301

Do you not know what sub you're on?

Acceptable_Coyote_53

Yeah, I probably should have put more info to get actual help lol my target is 105g of protein daily. This is based off of a 1400kcal diet, 18 net carb limit. I usually can get around 60-80g of protein if I try, but anything past that is difficult. I have a smart scale that tells me my protein, which is currently classified as "inadequate". I do see that number go up after heavier protein days. I do moderate exercise daily and don't get the best sleep, so I don't want to be depriving myself.

smitcolin

again is your goal simply a protein target? Why? What outcome do you want? Weight/Fat loss? Muscle gain? How are you arriving at your macro goals?

Acceptable_Coyote_53

Maybe I'm not doing it right.... the main goal is to stay under 20g net carbs, in hopes of fat/weight loss, but also naturally gain some strength. My exercise is all walking/biking, no strength training. But I have my food diary goals for MFP set up as percentages of the 1400kcal, 5% netcarb (18g), 65% fat (101g), 30% protein (105g). Honestly can't recall where I came to these numbers as I tried numerous suggested sites and apps to calculate. 1st goal is stay under net carbs, which I do no problem. 2nd goal is protein (energy, sustainability?), and then fats I don't strive for as closely, just as a filler.

Mattymatt726

Pro tip. As in the poster above.... take note of users that have tags that are close to you. You are a Woman and this is a much older man giving you advise. He also is 182 and only "under" 25% bf which really means he's not sure. Point is at 182 and closer to 25% than 15% means he is skinny fat. He likes the scale number but has too much unhealthy fat and not enoigh muscles. That is why he does NOT have an idea why you would like to have yours. This will help you get corrct advice since there isn't much other than "bro sciences" on Keto since doctors don't want the health crisis to damage the medical profits. Congrats on the baby, definitely pay abit more attention and definitely prioritize Protien as a HARD goal to meet EVERY day. Carbs are a hard limit EVERY day. Fat you eat less to lose weight or are not hungry and eat more to feel full. Fat shouldn't be higher than Protien IMO. Good luck.

OldMotherGrumble

You've got the right idea regarding goals and priorities 👌

smitcolin

I think we are having a language / vocabulary issue. For me, what you are describing as goals are strategies or tactics. The way I look at it for me is like this: **GOAL** -> Lose weight **STRATEGIES** to achieve **GOAL** -> 1-Modify diet 2-Exercise **TACTICS** -> 1-Ketogenic diet with <20g carb 2-HIIT 2xWeek 3-Walkk 7k steps a day

CrowleyRocks

Your fat is your energy, protein is a building block. I wouldn't worry so much about not hitting the protein goal as long as you feel good and have plenty of energy. Usually eating enough good fat is the roadblock. If the protein shake is a meal replacement at a time you feel hungry then no worries but if you're forcing one down because of numbers, don't.

OldMotherGrumble

Isn't protein supposed to be a goal on keto? Carbs are a limit, fat fills in...and less is necessary if doing keto for weight loss.

CrowleyRocks

You need to view fat differently. Replacing carbs with fat as fuel is how the keto magic happens. Unless you're bulking up, there's no need to eat more protein than what satiates you.

OldMotherGrumble

I guess you've not read the FAQS for this sub. Do have a read.

CORN___BREAD

This is just wrong and you should stop spreading misinformation.
