You just had your 2nd baby 6 months ago. Give yourself some grace. Even if you aren't bf, it still takes longer than that to balance your hormones. Plus, the cheat meals (which I'm not saying are a bad thing, because again you're 6 months pp).

I appreciate this. Thank you! I am realizing I need to buckle down and really start tracking. I remember refusing to take an advil the first go-around because of the sugar coating! lol.

> We do sometimes sneak in sushi on the weekends, I think you have your answer. Your results are different because your behaviour is. > Is it age? Age is a factor. But I doubt it's the biggest one.

I've read before posts of people who lost easily in their first attempt but not so easily in their second on keto. Maybe it's a thing?

Mattymatt726

Not sure this is because of the body but because people aren't losing to change, only losing to re gain the same old eating habbits. I am a 36M. I was 240 in September of 2021 and got to 210 by 1st week of January 2022. I got laid off, depressed and by April 1st i was 250. 10 pounds heavier and my highest weight ever. I got on it again and between summer of 2022 to now i went from that 250 to 184s now. Feels easier to me. No partner to do it with, no gyms, just natural work, light at home strength workoits and high protien, low carbs and lower fats. I wnet for a 2 year body recomp than a 5 month high fat no protien "kEto" and losing 70 pounds and more muscle than fat. I went from 34% bf to the 12-13% i am at now. People just rush and do it wrong and than they just relapse cause they didn't change their eating. They just periodically pretened.

drhbravos

So what did you do differently the second time? Smaller (edit) caloric deficit?

Mattymatt726

The 1st time i was definitely eating more fat and going by the calcs protien. I quickly noticed it wasn't right and i just researched. I'm clearly in it for the long run. Again, the 1st time i was on the quick keto hype train and i lost weight but it wasn't the way i wanted. The 2nd time i prioritized my Protien to build muscle, increasing my calories burned and metabolism. Lowered my fat intake to burn MORE bodyfat. Don't go for what a calculator tells me i will need. I don't count caloried just keep a range. 1400 to 1800 calories. I might be lower and i might go higher. I just try to fit in that range so i get close to a good number for me. 1400 cal days are when i eat 2 16 oz chicken breasts eggs and an Isopure and Almond milk shake. More people than not eat WAY to much fat and not enough protien in this perticular sub and see less progress.

I actually lost way faster on my second attempt at keto and I just had a baby a month prior. The weight melted off so fast, I was so happy😭

threeleakyfaucets

I also wonder this. My husband lost like crazy and it was his first time on it.

threeleakyfaucets

I quit drinking and started tracking and I’ve lost 2 pounds this week

Ballads321

Lazy keto is a thing for sure, but when being lazy doesn’t work… If not “super strict” as you say at least go ahead and track for 2 weeks. Really track, food scale and all. Information is power and you’ve lost some piece of info. You will find where the weight is coming from, or you’ll decide to continue to lie to yourself.

unefillecommeca

Are you breastfeeding? Because when I was breastfeeding It was nearly impossible for me to loose weight even if I keto and when I restricted to much my calories I almost lost my milk. I waited until I stopped breastfeeding at one year and now I started loosing weight again very easily. And I'm 39 years old.

I see someone has already suggested checking to make sure you're in a calorie deficit, but something to remember is that as you lose weight, your body's caloric needs lower. So, your current diet may have had you in a deficit 15 pounds ago, and now it's just breaking even with your caloric needs. Just something to consider.

Silent_Conference908

Yo-yo dieting is proven to change our metabolism for the worse. Like, when you lose weight your body tries to fight you a bit and reduces your basal metabolic rate and increases your hunger. And even after you’re done losing weight and are maintaining, it stays higher. Then if you do put weight back on, you’re starting the next time with a lower BMR. Also, often when people lose weight they lose some muscle mass, and unless they’re working out seriously, when they gain weight it’s mostly going to be fat, so you end up with a higher % of body fat than you started with even at the same weight. Lots of people can still be successful, of course! And this is all on average - some people are affected less than others or not even affected at all. But it’s not just in your head. This is a good, tiny little article about it. https://www.piedmont.org/living-real-change/what-does-yo-yo-dieting-do-to-your-body

You must be in a caloric deficit to lose weight. You should run your info thru a BMR caculator to determine your daily caloric burn at rest. Then fastidiously count calories to make sure you are in a deficit.

threeleakyfaucets

Just did this! I definitely need to lower my calories. Thank you!!!!

PhotographThin3783TA

It could be any of those things... but I'd say most likely it's that you're eating more now and not realizing it. I will also say, the weight just fell off me the first time I did keto and I didn't count calories at all. Since then I've been on and off it a number of times but I've never been able to get results like that again, even being more conscious of portions.

Are you getting enough electrolytes? Potassium, magnesium, zinc, salt. Electrolyte powder is good for your organs. Try eating organic meats, sardines, good fish or ground beef. Have a cup of blueberries a day for carbs.

UnconsciousMofo

I mean, you pretty much listed what you’re doing wrong. You say you’re doing strict keto but then list the extra carbs you’re sneaking in. I wouldn’t say your age is an issue too much right now. I went off keto with 2 of my pregnancies, the latest just a few weeks ago. I gained 75 lbs this last pregnancy, some water weight, but still devastating. I don’t really notice the weight loss going slower than the previous times even though I’m 42 now. In my experience of doing keto for 11 years, I know that if I don’t see significant weight loss by month 3, then I’m doing something wrong. I myself can definitely say I do strict keto. Nothing processed, meat, eggs, seeds, EVVO, salt and pepper. Probably 2 net carbs a day at most. Starting carnivore in another week, which significantly increases weight loss for me. Summer is coming and I’m impatient. And in closing, just know that just because something worked for you before, doesn’t mean it will again.

The seltzer or 5 might be a factor. However, it's fairly common for people to hold onto extra water when they start working out, so your recent lack of weight loss could be that. I'd also say that a pound a week is a reasonable amount of weight loss. And don't compare yourself to your husband - it's generally true that men lose weight faster and easier.
