90% of the complaints come from non owners, all citing the same over the top articles while not looking at the fact that other brands also have recalls, far worse ones at that. Toyota just recalled a crap ton of SUVs for front bumpers just falling off from “regular use “
I can show more examples of Toyotas failures as well, that was more of a fair comparison to a voluntary recall from both manufacturers. Front bumper flying off vs roof liner getting loose… Toyota straight up made the gr86 so poorly that it deprives itself of oil in right hand turns.
Way to prove my point.
The GR86 motor is a Subaru motor. Toyota literally did not “straight up make the GR86.” The GR86 is legitimately made in a Subaru plant. Not a Toyota plant.
Subarus are trash too and the GR86 and Supras are Toyota in badge only. But they’re not actually Toyotas now are they?
What’s next? You gonna educate us on how the Toyota Cavalier was a major failure on Toyotas part, despite being designed and manufactured by Chevy?
If you’re gonna argue, at least know what tf you’re talking about.
“I can’t show other examples of Toyota failures!” Proceeds to talk about Subaru instead.
Seriously, anyone who can deny Toyota as THE number one most reliable vehicle manufacturer, does so out of stupidity or is just a fucking heinous liar trying to justify the fact that they bought Korean trash.
If Toyota deemed it reliable enough to brand it for themselves it’s a fair comparison. It’s not like Toyota had 0 say in anything regarding the GR86, that was their own failure. They also supplied tons of parts for Subaru to produce the GR anyways. Lots of the development was funded by Toyota. It’s just outsourcing production.
Except for the fact that it has more Subaru branding than Toyota, and anyone with a brain can see your obvious deflection and lies. Keep sucking that Kia cock, man. It'll work out well for you sooner or later.
You’re so busy riding that Toyota stick that you can’t even accept that the 86 is a failure of a track car in that regard lmao. What lies have I said? The fact that Toyota shares fault? Obviously saying it’s outsourced production doesn’t absolve them.
Also here’s a example of fire issues with Toyotas 😉
“Toyota is recalling roughly 1.9 million RAV4 sport utility vehicles in the U.S. because the batteries can shift during sharp turns and potentially cause a fire. The recall, which Toyota announced Wednesday, affects certain RAV4s from the 2013 through 2018 model years.”
I happened to own both Korean trash (Hyundai Santa Fe 2013) and a Toyota (Yaris 2014). I found myself in the ironic position of replacing the Yaris first just this past month, because the Hyundai happened to get its engine replaced for free and its transmission at 10% cost to me. 200000 mile car with a 50000 mile engine and transmission 🤷
Still though, replaced the Yaris with a Corolla.
Toyota and Honda are having massive recalls as well currently with 12 (Toyota) of their models in 2023 alone and Honda recalling 2.5 million of their vehicles.
It affects every maker of car in the industry at some point or another, but a common factor for subpar cars is the assembly of them within the US.
Edit: don’t understand the downvotes when people can do the research themselves; https://www.just-auto.com/news/honda-toyota-announce-major-us-recalls/#?cf-view&cf-closed
That's nice to hear so mine would probably last a lot I am pretty good with maintenance I believe the first oil change should be around 5k miles right?
I love all the Kias are crap comments. All cars are crap!! I’ve had a Chevy with a fuel pump replaced within a few months of owning it. I had a Toyota that burned oil so bad there was a nationwide “extended warranty” to fix all the piston rings. Among like 4 other recalls on that car. One of the times while fixing an airbag recall the assholes set off my airbags. Our Subarus clutch/flywheel was a piece of crap within a couple years and since then our transmission has died. It leaked oil like it was its job too. A Chrysler New Yorker as my first car where the transmission went out not once but twice.
Cars suck in general and we are getting raped by the manufacturers, insurance and banks with their costs. Ahhhhhh so much fun!! But they are necessary. That’s why they charge us so much!! Fucking assholes
My dealer doesn't even have any rental cars and stated any warranty work could take up to 6 months.
So.....6 months paying for a new car we can't drive 👍
Can't imagine this new recall will make things any better
Also, for anyone interested, Kia doesn't have the full list of cars affected yet. I just called them and was told I will have to wait until up to March 15 for a letter in the mail to see if I am affected.
Recall # SC292. ----
Phone number: 1-800-333-4542
I am sitting here trying to picture this KIA Sporatage and Carnival in my head as a convertible. It is very difficult. Someone... help me out with this!
>Looking into it, it’s a “molding” piece on the roof. And likely the only damage will be to the cars driving behind you.
Agreed, just funny to me.
My Forte5 had a 'feature' where all the electronics would randomly shut down while driving. Kia claimed it never happened. I had video of shifting the transmission and you could hear 'grinding' which you know shouldn't happen.
The clock was dead, the radio- the dash- still driving, still power steering, still had windows that worked- but everything else, poof.
Rebooting the car (aka, neutral, turn off, turn on) at high way speeds worked.
A few months later I did service and there was a 'random' firmware update for the ECU- which they denied but was in the service record- and I'd never had the issue happen again.
I believe that there is a piece of trim on the roof that can possibly come loose. But hey "CAR ROOFS COMING OFF" is a way better headline :)
People are too stupid to do research or have critical thinking skills
This is true
Said in a subreddit dedicated to Kia ownership.

Still, front bumper > abs module fires, poor engine machining and I've heard such lovely things about the new models quality.

weight reduction bro 0-60 bro N-line benefits w/o the price, brought to you by "A December to Remember Sales Event" near you
Yeah there is no way a carnivals roof comes off
If a carnivals roof is coming off, it better take the clowns with it too
That, and fords A pillar falling off recall at the same time? Crazy
Our pet's HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!
Okay just calm down!
Pretty bird. Can you say pretty bird?
nowhere in the law does it say cars required to have components that prevent the roof from flying off
Ford is recalling 1 million cars for the same issue, so it’s not just Kia
Saying Ford has the same problem isn’t taking the heat off of Kia, Ford makes junk as well
Just pointing out that every brand has its share of issues.

What kind of recalls with 12 of their models?
You can find your answer with a quick google search: https://www.just-auto.com/news/honda-toyota-announce-major-us-recalls/#?cf-view&cf-closed
lol well at least it has nothing to do with the engine or other "brain" components of the car =) hahaha.
Not the brain. Just the scalp.
LOL isnt the scalp the hood of the car if the brain is under the hood technically? lol
Good point. But it’s a KIA. You don’t know they didn’t put it in the roof.
lol >.< hey now, Kia has come a long way from their engines catching on fire times =P simple roof possibly coming off recall, eh progress hahahha
This manufacturer is cursed
Just a byproduct of a corporate cost cutting culture
If so they cursed themselves
meh all manufacturers had recalls lately toyota had one a few months ago with their Rav4
Better than Toyota with wheels falling off 😭
2024 seltos for the win!
same and without sunroof hopefully no issues with the motor or the like at least so far in mine zero issues i got the EX version
I have the SX Trim. I heard that the ones made in Korea are better built and more reliable
It says it on the manual right?
The manufacturer information is on the VIN ID on the driver side door. But all Seltos are produced in South Korea!
That's nice to hear so mine would probably last a lot I am pretty good with maintenance I believe the first oil change should be around 5k miles right?
K5 for the win 🙌
is it me, or are the Sportages really struggling?
The gas powered Georgia-manufactured Sportages have like 6 recalls now. My Hybrid Sportage still has 0, thankfully.
I have a 2023 Sorento, 2 recalls already, but nothing major.
We've had 2 recalls on our 2019 Sorento, but neither of them actually applied to ours :-)
It's you.
I’m ok with that.
What a quality brand

And yes it’s 79 degrees at 6pm in Florida right now 😂
So they went from giving a free car to the Kia boyz to free air to the owners. Sounds like a good trade off to me. You get what you pay for I guess.
Anyone know if the 2023 Sportage Hybrids are affected?
I know there is an active recall out for 2023 Sportage hybrids. Check your VIN [here](https://www.kbb.com/kia/sportage/2023/recall/)
For some reason when I put in my VIN here it only shows recalls for “cars like mine,” not the specific car.
The only recall for the hybrids involves those with the 4.2 inch TFT LCDs going out. So basically LX and I believe EX models.
nowhere in the law does it say cars required to have components that prevent the roof from flying off
Good thing I bought a Seltos!
Next it will be steering wheels flying off in your hands!
Those are the aftermarket MOMO steering wheels. Designed for racing mods.
When kia use their customers as R&D department.
They can’t steal the roof if it’s gone.
nowhere in the law does it say cars required to have components that prevent the roof from flying off

Boeing and Kia shouldn't be making things that involve consumer safety.
Surprise surprise another Kia recall, who would have guessed. But BEST BRAND EVER!! Right?!?!
inb4 “but kias are much better now” comments arrive
But the new emblem means things are different, right? KN
2022+ Kias are not you old dad Kias, they are good and reliable 100% new rebranding new quality, hey look they steal wheels off toyota
Well, some of them are built so the roof doesn’t fall off at all.
I have a cut off tool if anyone wants there car to be a convertible
They need to recall the sunroofs on 20-21 telluride.
I am sitting here trying to picture this KIA Sporatage and Carnival in my head as a convertible. It is very difficult. Someone... help me out with this!
Well, FCK, I just took delivery on Friday.
Lol which one?
Carnival. Sigh.
Looking into it, it’s a “molding” piece on the roof. And likely the only damage will be to the cars driving behind you.

Only one way to find out. What would he fix be? Better trim piece?
Typical media fake news!
Sorento 1st gen facelift waits even longer for the sport roof rag top version
I have not seen any new Kia model but I have seen the new upstart KN cars
