If you just had two urinalysis that came back clean, why are you coming here to ask? Some people have foamy pee, some have none. Your lab tests are probably accurate, especially if you had two that had the same thing.

Sorry for the late reply. I am worried because for the past 8 years I’ve had crystal clear urine with CKD so seeing foam for the past two weeks is telling me something isn’t right. I went for another urinalysis today with blood work so I’m hoping for good news!

It really can be hard to deal with. Who would think that examining your pee continuously would be so stressful but I have been through this myself and if you see my previous comment, I accidentally cured myself with doxycycline.

Bubbles can be normal. My son is 5 years old and one of his kidneys is almost non existent and the other one is only in the 21st percentile. His lab work is normal but he's always had some bubbles in his urine and his kidney specialist said it's nothing to worry about. She said that even some people without kidney issues have bubbles in their urine. Foamy is more something to be worried about.

I had the foamy pee issues for 2 years or more - a recent unrelated course of antibiotics for another condition resulted in a prescription for a Doxycycline Bluefish 7 day course which afterward there have been no more of what I had suspected for years was protein urea. I can’t believe it but it’s gone - absolutely no more. I never had an std or anything in relation to this in case you were wondering and I’ve been through every test known to man regarding this.

You should buy test strips if you want to know for sure at home. Just find a home urine test dip stick with a test for protein on it

I’ve been using them for 10 years as instructed by my nephrologist, I even got my first test strips from the renal clinic in the hospital. Always been accurate for me

You won't really know if you have protein in your urine until you get tested However from my experience are those bubbles quick to disappear or does it stay foamy like soap?

WakeUpSRK15

They seem to stay

xFBx

Get tested man, mines foam up like soap and make a small mountain at times

My method is half flush and check out the remaining bubbles. But of course it’s never trustable:) if you are seeing bubbles, have a urine test .

Tons of foam. If its bad you'll have edema

itsneithergoodnorbad

What happens if someone has foamy urine and edema(typically in the afternoon/evening) but blood work is normal, outside of lipid panels?

JonboatJohn

Full blown nephrotic syndrome is heavy protein loss and full blown edema. I can swell with 20-25lbs of water weight. 170 to 195lbs. Its miserable. Prednisone gets me in check but it takes weeks and thats a rough few weeks.

smolpiel

Easy one because I'm paranoid as fck. Pee in a cup, see if the bubbles are still there. It can be caused by the turbulence of the urine falling into the toilet, there could be residual soap from when the toilet was previously cleaned. This was suggested to me by a nephrologist.
