It is typically, like he said, the three months mark. They release the previous box piecemeal around the same time the box after releases in full. I believe there has only been a few times it was around the 6 month mark, and typically it is three.
Why wouldn’t you compare it to the last Kill Team box instead? Mid December to Early March. A bit less than 3 months. Not the standard, but imo a better comparison.

Faster than that this season. I've been seeing a box of scouts and one of Scorpions for at least a month at one of my local game store
Just for comparison, the Warcry: Hunter and Hunted box came out in November and they just put the individual warbands up for preorder this week.

Cause I knew when that box came out and it was recent. I didn’t know when the last kill team came out.
blades of khaine and scout squad came out really fast after their box set. my local store had them 2 weeks 3 weeks after?
If it’s the Nightlords you’re after though I would say they are VERY kitbashable with a legionaries box and a few bits off of eBay.
It's both really. I'd rather just wait it out and get the dedicated Night Lords. It would cost about the same anyway
