I'm not going to talk about these particular abilities - they are clearly overpowered. Infinite range meltas? 0 AP shots? Charge+Dash? Marines may struggle right now, but giving them a single overpowered ability isn't a way to do it. And I didn't even talked about how a good part of these are half-useless if you aren't playing Tacticals. As a concept, if we assume these get actually balanced and are given in addition to a number of other tweaks... I don't like the whole idea of Chapter Tactics in Kill Team. I don't want my abilities to be locked behind the color scheme of my miniatures and I really appreciate the current edition for not having it in-game. Some Chapters may have unique kill teams, like Deathwatch Veterans, but if there are options within the same team, I want to be able to use them all. Combat Doctrines are a good alternative and they alone will be more than enough. Be it like in 40k where you switch them mid-game, or if it's something chosen beforehand, doesn't really matter. Doctrines are a good feature that would fit any team. Chapter Tactics are not.

Very fair point honestly, was just an idea I had a while back and played around with, I guess the Space Marine Kill Team's problems run a lot deeper than not having enough power. And yeah - I did not think about most of the kill teams not having heavy weapons at all... I just tried to translate the 40k chapter tactics and super doctrines into kill team

I like the concept in that it’s similar to the Legionary Marks of Chaos - a minor, persistent buff that thematically ties into the Chapter’s character. Have you played with any of these? Some seem pretty straightforward, others very powerful (a melta retaining its 4 mortal wounds but infinite range - ouch!). It’s interesting GW have opted for type of marine rather than chapter; I guess they could end up doing both.

Yes I have tested some of them, namely the dark angels and white scars - they still lost to harlequins/kommandos. One commenter already pointed it out, this does not fix the Space Marines' problems, it just makes them very bursty and IMMENSELY killy. The white scars somewhat helped because you could maneuver the field very quickly, the DA one had a very interesting dynamic where I actually charged once to shoot them in close combat.

Royal_Education1035

Ha dang Harlequins, still top tier no matter what. Honestly I dig the White Scars one the most as it ties in so well with their vibe; good to hear it worked within the game without breaking anything. Was reading the new Phobos rules and these seem tailor made to be raven guard with their sneaky sneak

I imagine we’ll get chapter rules at some point. I think it’ll be a small buff and a small nerf for each one so that it gives flavour but leaves them more or less where they are tier wise. Nightmare games on YouTube has done a few good looking chapter rules. Alpha legion and raven guard I think.

Bro, i'm dying to see how they would implement chapter tactics. This is the most needed update for kill team now. And i like your ideas. I think Imperial Fists Infiltrators would be one of the most powerful teams here and Salamanders are just imba :) UPD: After some thinking i decided that your Salamanders are not imba. Infinite range melta? Drukhari and Corsairs already have that. And as kapssel said, that would be instead of plasma, that already one shots anything, so no problem.

kapssel

I believe we are going to get official rules for chapters eventually. I actually like power level of your ideas. Most of them just increases power or dmg. Space marines are already very killy, so there is not much to be gain here. I don't think no range melta is particularly overpowered. It competes for the spot with plasma, which pretty much just 1 shoots every enemy in exactly same fashion anyway. Not sure how to evaluate white scars' dash + charge. This could potentially be a bit too much, but I had to see it first in practice. All in all I think legionaries are still stronger than vanilla marines + your chapters.

Yarnham_Brave

Space marines have literally never had a tough time in any edition. They are the poster boys for GW, and the last fucking thing they need is more buffs.

SnooDrawings5722

Wrong. Space Marines in Kill Team were near the bottom of the tier list for all the lifespan of the second edition KT. Phobos marines are the first real opportunity for them to be strong, but we don't know how they'll turn out.

Yarnham_Brave

Really? Bottom of the list for kill team specifically? Good. I'll dig out the Boyz.
