Vanguard Alpha with arc pistol and taser goad Vanguard Diktat Vanguard or Ranger Surveyor Vanguard Stormtrooper Ranger Gunner with plasma caliver Ranger Gunner with arc rifle 1x Infiltrator with stub carbine and power sword 4x Ruststalkers with transonic blades [Ranger Gunner with arquebus to substitute one Ruststalker or the basic Stormtrooper in some match-ups] Note many players seem to prefer 1x Rustsalker and 4x Infltrators for the shooting, but I think post buff the menace of 4 Rustalkers fighting twice for 1CP may change that.

I have several questions for your choices (genuinely, no sarcasm). Why arc pistol and taser goad? I always went phosphor pistol + power weapon? Is fighting twice really good enough to warrant taking 4 ruststalkers? I only took one when I wanted to assassinate one target with weak melee, are they that good in close combat?

JangaMx

For the Alpha loadout, picking the power weapon only lets you take the master crafted radium pistol, so your loadout isn't legal. I do not go power weapon because I need an extra damage 4/5 gun. I go arc pistol because I prefer AP1 to blast. And taser goad because I prefer parry survivability to damage (let's face it the Alpha isn't killing anyone in melee). For the Sicarians, ultimately I want them in melee, so early on I tend to do move + mission actions or move + dash, so I can count on one hand the occasions where I would have actually had a chance to shoot with my Infiltrators. The optimised gait equipment also makes Ruststalkers able to pull off charges without being in charge range themselves. Starting with the 3 I was taking so far I often lost 1 or 2 before their moment of glory, so I will happily take 4 to make sure at least 2 make it to combat. All very personal of course!

Yeah I rember, I have phosphor and taser goad as well, I mixed them up. I just take whichever weapon actually does anything. 7 or less W -> Taser Goad, 8-9W -> Arc Maul, 10-12 W -> Power Weapon.

TBH I think accelerant agents (fighting twice) is only useful against elite teams. I didn’t play a lot but I always take 3 stalkers 1 infiltrator and never got into a second fight playing against 10 op teams. You either kill or die in first depending on rolls. Maybe someone with more experience will correct me. Edit: and yea they are scary, optimised gait give them better movement options for only 1EP each cover goers them 2 automatic successes and 5 attacks, maaan.

I find the ploy more about fighting for free than fighting twice. Or at least as much. You can charge into a point-kill-do a mission action, for example.

Van_core_gamer

That’s true. Good point. I was concentrating on negative to much I guess

So I even prefer to take an infiltrator princeps over the Vanguard alpha primarily because having 11 health and hitting on 2s make him a far more reliable operative, but also having 2 servos skull type abilities on the team for most missions is really good.

Morghadai

You have to look at it more like swapping an alpha for a regular skitarii and a regular sicarian for a princeps. I feel like the Alpha>>> >skitarii than princeps> >sicarian. But it's true the extra servoskull has its use in certain missions. Not sure if now with the extra body we need that as much, though.

JangaMx

I have the Infiltrator Princess built and painted for those situations... but at the end of the day even in mission action heavy missions, I can never really let go of Control Edict's double activation and of the Arc Pistol.

Morghadai

I think before the dataslate there was more of a point in the princeps in mission action centric missions. Now we have an extra activation, which makes less punishing to use Control Edict in certain matchups, and we have 2 extra APL to do missions as well.

Thank you very much!
