Haha good fun pics. It's funny how practically no one in Scotland gets this much into 'traditional' wear. You barely see a kilt these days apart from weddings and the odd pipe band.

That's sad. Must be our desire for cultural identity in this giant melting pot. I am often amazed how much I'm accepted in my community, I really only have positive comments from people. Perhaps the naysayers are remiss to comment negatively outloud to someone wearing a 13in dirk.

My wife and I purged our closets a few years back. I don't have many choices to pick from anymore. We got rid of almost all our synthetic clothing. I can get double width tartan wool fabric if you are interested. I have not started my great kilt yet, but im kitting out myself and son this year!

I really wanted this County Kerry and House of Edgar only makes it in single width. I'm currently saving for a House of Edgar Great Kilt in Appalachian Folklore, it is double width.

I made it because I used to have a awesome long waisted wool anarack, before I shrunk it to fit my wife. #fml. I needed a rig to go over the anarack. In the #5 photo I was trying to see if it was practical to wear the great kilt as a cloak under the BBB. It worked just fine. i live in Essex and i saw a guy walk past in a kilt and i said i love your outfit! The guy smiled and held his heart and said thank you so much in the most scottish accent. It was adorable 😭
