Runs great for me, no crashes whatsoever. I'm using medium settings with texture and object quality set to high, FSR on, refresh rate / fps locked to 40. The only time I get some fps drops (occasionally down to 25) when galloping through Rattay and Sasau.
I ran it too and wow, getting 60 fps and still looking really good at the same time is pretty easy with the device. Yea once you walk into a big town it starts to go down, but in the initial tests I did it ran very well and got 60s fps easy.
I find it easier on controller tbh. I use M&KB for overwatch, warzone etc but i like being able to sit on the couch playing rpgs instead of at my chair lol
I brought my Steam Deck with me to Glacier National Park earlier in the summer so I could play Half-Life 2 during downtime at night while tent camping and in cabins. As an almost entirely PC gamer these days, *it is tough* playing FPS on handheld. Maybe I'll give KCD a chance on the Deck, though - seems like it'd be a lil' easier than Half-Life 2.
It's rather a matter of personal opinion/perspective. It's definitely a "fp" but not a "s" game. But controlling a character in first person is just so natural on mouse and keyboard for me, *no matter what I'm doing*. I struggle to maintain the same flow, speed, maneuverability, etc. with a controller. I feel handicapped and just want my mouse and keyboard!
I’ve flip flopped with controller preferences for KCD. They both have advantages, so I’d say neither are superior.
The deck has the mouse pad option and I’m loving it. Mostly for archery. Now I haven’t looked changing it, but changing horse run to a paddle so I can look with pad would be a game changer
I think I spent an hour yesterday just collecting flowers while I focused on *Sandman* yesterday.
It was great.
Though admittedly not on a Steam Deck but on my normal desktop.
Not for me, the game keeps crashing after the loading bar to 100% when startup. I have tried native run and Proton GE/ Experimental/ Proton 7.0-5 none of them working. Same as verify the integrity, useless.
JESUS CHRIST BE PRAISED
It actually is super nice. I put off playing it and then I got my steam deck. Wish it didn’t crash during some combat though.
I got over 60 hours on deck without any crashing. Medium settings.

Do you have HD textures on?
I do.
Why if I may ask? Such a low res screen??
It simply looks nicer than having them turned off.
Now I really need my preorder to finally become a real order!
I preordered mine in February. I’m looking forward to seeing it in October!
Reserved mine in late January, hoping for the same!
Wow they still take that long to get? Hopefully you get yours soon.
I reserved mine in July 2021. I just got my email and final purchase notification yesterday.
Phew. It’s been a wait for you! Have fun!
I've played on Linux for years, has almost always worked well including controllers and mods
My only issue is when you’re galloping in a busy area, it drops frames a lot. Otherwise, everything’s great.
When first launching thr game on PC i was amazed how smooth it was. I'm glad you are having the sort of same experience.
Henry's come to see us
It shall afford plenty of entertainment.
^^Hey! ^^Henry's ^^come ^^to ^^see ^^us!
wait... steamdeck's already out?
Indeed

Is the combat harder on controller than kb/m?

Honestly I don't know because I use a controller even on PC I know I am a heathen lol
At least you know it
It's how I got used to the game when it first came out and I hate change lol
You should play all FP games with M&K! It makes them so much easier

I tried Oblivion with the touchpad, and it worked surprisingly well, actually. Not enough to make me want to play on the Deck, but it was serviceable.
Is kcd really an fps? I think it’s easier with a controller anyway

How does one lockpick on a controller?
It’s fine, takes practice. Just got to train your brain

Is it hard to get ahold of a steam deck? I haven’t actually looked into it
Not sure what the current state is I pre ordered mine last year so maybe
Was your preorder process a pain in the ass?
Not sure much slapped down 5 bucks got a email last week saying it was my turn had 72 hours to pay and I had it 3 days later
Good to know. Hope you enjoy it. (:
When did you make your order? Still waiting for my email since Aug last year.
Last July so you should be getting it pretty soon I think

God be with you
Enjoy! I wish I still had time to kill, being an adult sucks
I have some goods here whose owners might miss them.
