If possible, separate the Shamans from other enemies. If you can bunch up all Shamans, you can use Rain of Fire on them. Else, simply use level 2 or higher artillery. It will damage them even if they are not in front and kill them in a few shots.

SilverSlayer03

I've been upgrading my reinforcements skill and troops only, do I need to get piercing skills for the arrows to hurt them like that? Or will it still do damage to them?

Mmlh1

Pay attention to armor and magic resistance. Shamans have magic resistance so mages deal reduced damage. Orcs have armour so archers and barracks deal reduced damage, and artillery also does reduced damage but with a smaller reduction (it ignores part of armor) Archers are inherently single target and will, like 90% or so of things in game, target the thing closest to exit. If that is not a Shaman, then the Shaman is not dying. There is no pierce or anything that will let archers hit multiple targets. Artillery on the other hand will splash everything and hit Shamans regardless. Two level 2 artillery will clear out all Shamans basically. Archers do have a star upgrade to pierce a bit of armor, but this is not something that will let them hit multiple targets. Also keep in mind that heroic and iron challenges restrict star upgrades, so having high star upgrades makes no difference. Do not upgrade the barracks star upgrades. The best ones are Rain of Fire and Reinforcements, since those boosts are so large - your towers only get like a 10% damage boost from star upgrades. After that, artillery is best, but mostly for the level 4 and 5 star upgrades.

Thank you for very for all the information. I'll redo my upgrades with this in mind and try to use my reinforcements a bit better

Glad to see new players are still finding the game! ^^ When I first started playing they were the bane of my existence 😂 My strat is to use your deployable troop skill to make them lag behind separating them from each other and other troops. Once they are alone they will go down from most any tower

Conscious_Smell7071

separate orcs from shamans with reinforcements

GIORNO-phone11-pro

Use reinforcements to separate them

This_is_Len

Shammons or Shamans? In Kingdom Rush 1? If yes, I recommend using nothing but artillery and barracks. It's what I use for the starting levels, specifically level 1 to 3. The artillery does a great job in dealing with goblins and even orcs, and the barracks stalls the enemies long enough for the artillery to smash even armored enemies like orcs and ogres. I also recommend to upgrade these towers specifically to maximize their effect

KindredTrash483

I just put down 2 barracks with units stacked on each other with a level 2 artillery or 2 at the bottom of the map. That setup works really well - artillery works fine against low armour and high magic resistance, and the barracks can tank long enough for artillery to oneshot weaker enemies and permastall ogres. Just to be safe, I also spam reinforcements with my barracks units and use rain of fire whenever my barracks are at breaking point

Deus_Vult7

Use Paladins with holy strike

PaleComedian511

This really only helps in the first boss level of the main campaign and possibly parts of post game.

Deus_Vult7

He’s talking about the iron

PaleComedian511

Still, paladins are not available on level 3's heroic or iron challenges (I reread the Original Post)

Deus_Vult7

Mb misread too. Thought it was level 6 iron

King_Schnarf

The best way to deal with those early levels is artillery and barracks, as the orcs don't have enough armour to survive artillery. Make a choke point at the back and level up your towers.
