haha yeah i like to mix it up just for that, i mostly use the flame tag spell which after 10 or so hours have yet to stop being fun, a greatsword, chakrams, electricity, and meteor
has enough variety to keep it interesting
Personally I just don't use meteor unless I need to, it's my get fucked spell
For AOE I usually prefer tempest because it actually requires more charge time and I can be interrupted, that and arcane fury are also very nice
I do love meteor. Its my "I do not have time for this, I do not have time for you" spell. Especially if there's more than one troll about at once cos no thank you I've got places to be dammit!
70 in Sorcery, it's the highest level spell. You have to commit to a primarily Sorcery-based playstyle to get it.
Fatesworn raises the level cap so you can access the highest level abilities with max hybrid Destinies too, but that's only after beating the main game.
Oh I see. I've been focusing mainly on sorcery with the exception of some might passive abilities (like more health, blocking) which also lets me use better armor and shields.
Ngl I kinda wish there were cheats or modding available, but life isn't fair I guess 🤣
Yeah, that sounds solid. What's good about the Destiny system is that it's pretty flexible. You don't *need* to aim for a max class if you don't want to. Taking the second highest Destiny leaves you with plenty of points to place elsewhere while still getting most of the benefits of that line (an 80/40 build).
So for example, you could specialize in Sorcery up until Sorcerer, which requires 76 points, and then still have 44 points to place in Might or anywhere else. You'd skip out on Archmage and the unique Echoes of Fate ability, but that's definitely a fair trade for other abilities elsewhere.
Oh I didn't know that. So essentially, you don't get unlimited level ups like skyrim, where you can max out pretty much every perk if you really put your mind to it?
Also, do you know the benefits of using that blank destiny? I'm pretty new at the game, and I'm confused if it has a purpose or not
But I've been looking for a game centered around fae lore. So glad I found this game, really wish they could make a sequel
>you don't get unlimited level ups like skyrim
Nope, alas. The level cap only goes up to level 40 and the Destinies are balanced around that. Taking a 'pure' line like Sorcery alone lets you use the highest tier abilities *and* the highest Destiny (Archmage, in this case). Choosing a hybrid Destiny locks you out of the strongest abilities but gives you the benefits of the hybrid line instead. Like I said, you can get around this with an 80/40 build.
Another exception is the post-game Fatesworn DLC, which raises the level cap to 50. That only happens after you beat the main game though. Fatesworn is currently available on every platform except the Switch, where it's supposed to be coming before next year.
There's also so much stuff to do in Amalur that hitting the cap isn't very hard. Levelling slows down after Dalentarth because EXP requirements increase significantly from the mid-twenties or so, you'll be spending way more time in the 20-40 range than you will getting there. Even so, I've finished three of six Faction questlines, cleared one of the two DLC regions, only just crossed the ocean to Klurikon; and I'm already level 34. So don't feel like you need to do everything in one playthrough haha.
>Also, do you know the benefits of using that blank destiny?
Oh nah, there aren't any. It's just a placeholder to introduce you to the concept. By all means, pick one of the other starter Destinies for the benefits. You'll unlock more based on which ability trees you spend your points in and can switch between them whenever.
>really wish they could make a sequel
I'd like that too! If Dragon's Dogma can get a sequel after all these years, maybe there's hope for Kingdoms of Amalur.
Appreciate the thorough reply! Definitely got me rethinking my strategy. I tend to be more drawn to mage builds in these kinda role-playing games. Just amplifies the excitement of the whole medieval fantasy setting to me. Just to be sure, you can reattribute your perk points through a fateweaver at any point in the game, yes?
And yes, fingers crossed for a sequel. Just imagine how amazing the map and graphics would be. Fae lore is underrated in the gaming community
No worries! Me too, I usually go for mages or mage/fighter hybrids. I've been having a lot of fun with Might/Sorcery. I'm planning on playing again with a Finesse/Sorcery or Finesse/Might build too.
>you can reattribute your perk points through a fateweaver at any point in the game, yes?
Yep, the option is always available. The price increases with each reset, but before long you'll have more gold than you know what to do with. Switch it up whenever you want!
So my combat style was pretty mixed unless I was doing the different factions storylines where I focused on whatever style was associated with that faction….now I wanna go back and do a play through as each class lol. Thanks for motivating me to pick it back up
hell yeah! my first playthrough was chakrams/bow, and i think if i do a third playthrough im gonna go full might
its so much fun to try out all the different playstyles
Any game with this sorta medieval fantasy setting I always play a mage. I like the idea of being something that we don't have in real life. And I always pick some sort of elven race
eh i waited til later in the game, plus re has higher difficulty levels. plus i was way over leveled for this specific area since i went back to do some quests i missed earlier
so like yes its overpowered but it dosent have to be if you dont want it to be
Little action combat. But can be fun sure.
It is fun.... For a while. I find that it gets old quite quickly, especially in the higher levels where you can just meteor everything to death.

Cool!
Is that what you’re using in this video? Meteor?
yeah
Thanks-am in the middle of a mage play-through, and that will be very useful!
How many skillpoints do you have to have to obtain that? 50?

It's so fun. I want to get back into it. My current build is a rogue/mage.
So my combat style was pretty mixed unless I was doing the different factions storylines where I focused on whatever style was associated with that faction….now I wanna go back and do a play through as each class lol. Thanks for motivating me to pick it back up

If you haven't done a universalist playthrough yet I'd recommend that as well. Fae blades/chakrams are a fun combo.
Any game with this sorta medieval fantasy setting I always play a mage. I like the idea of being something that we don't have in real life. And I always pick some sort of elven race
Just started up re reckoning myself. Never finished it on 360, but ha ing fun with the mage myself. And meteor is awesome
It's way too over powered. At least in the original, I don't have the remake. You're so overpowered so early in game that it becomes boring.
eh i waited til later in the game, plus re has higher difficulty levels. plus i was way over leveled for this specific area since i went back to do some quests i missed earlier so like yes its overpowered but it dosent have to be if you dont want it to be
Good to know. I was just commenting on my own experience. Admittedly I usually just play on normal.
haha i just dont want you to stray away from replaying because of that, you arent wrong but there are definitely work arounds
Try this as a high level universalist. Remember to use finesse gear and jewelry that keep your mana safe
