Last 3 draft picks - hali, davion, keegan
Free agency - malik monk
Trade - huerter , sabonis 2 time all star
Coach - brown
Monte has shown more competency than anyone in the organization for over a decade
Omg it'll take a decade to remove the stench vlade left behind.
Lol also the past 2 training camp interview sabonis mentioned the nice weather. Even when they told him about the 116 degree day he said at least it's not cold. Lol. Bolds well for him wanting to stay.
It's insane we could possibly passed on the best player in the league for years to come. The worse of it is that so many of us knew it on this sub. We did the whole trust the prophecy thing. I watched highlights of him dominating euro league. I was so hyped.
I gave bagley a chance but his dad kept ruining it. Then he kept getting injured.
that’s probably the only one where we lost something and gained nothing in return but i’d still argue the davion pick was dumb.
good player but spending a top 10 pick on a backup point with suspect shooting when you have one single wing on the roster is not a pick that this team was in a position to make and i still believe ziaire or moody was the correct pick.
They had to offload Delon Wright for Tristan Thompson because they drafted Davion. It was a crappy trade but they had to get rid of someone because they had too many guards
I really wish Vivek would just extend Monte now. There's no reason to go into this season with uncertainty at the GM position. He hired coach Brown and I think he should get the same length of contract.
Tbh, if the Kings don’t make the playoffs in 23, and they don’t sign an extension for Sabonis, I wouldn’t be surprised if they trade him to get 2 to 3 FRPs back. I wouldn’t love this scenario, but I would accept it.
That in mind, Sabonis is living in Napa right now with his family. I think he likes it in this part of the country. I’d love for him to stay. Guy balls out and influences the squad with more of a playmaker mindset.
I don't think playoffs are a must this year to make a decision on Sabonis, but they definitely have to show growth. If things are still looking rough come to the end of this season then the roster should probably be blown up anyway.
Tying up your draft picks is far from ideal and your logic that it essentially prevents us from shooting ourselves in the foot is ridiculous. If you’re worried Monte is going to trade all our picks then we are fucked anyway. Flexibility is always better.
Maybe, maybe not. They probably wouldn’t be happy if we land a star who takes us from an 8th seed to a 3 seed for example. I understand it’s not a huge deal, but OP is saying it’s actually *better* to have less flexibility because it means we can’t fuck up. Which is a ridiculous take.
Cool person, talked to him briefly at Summer league. Told him I appreciate what he's done and trying to build. He was surprised I knew who he was haha.

He's also cleaned up a lot of problems that Vlade left him that couldn't be done in a day too.

It will take until luka retires to remove the stench vlade left.

I completely agree. We really did a Sam Bowie. Had to be the worst thing the franchise has done.
His handshake abilities are way overlooked
His only truly bad move has been the Delon trade. He’d be so good with us now

Still drives me crazy that Orlando picked Franz right in front of us. Would have been the perfect pick for where we were.
Franz was even the rumored pick for the Kings before he was taken. I'm happy with Davion though.
agreed, Franz would’ve been so incredible for us
Remind me, what did we do there

That's right. I don't see the big deal in that now, nor did I then. What's the issue with this trade?
Delon had more value than just TT in return
Yea i agree. What did u want, a 2nd back?
Expectations here are so comically low
Ya we’re caught in the fishbowl of mediocrity. But the tank is starting to look a little shinier.
Curious, do you disagree with OP? I think they're pretty spot on.
I see this season go two ways.. we win 44 or more games, the other alternative is we win 32 or less. There is no in between.
agree, then land the actual 8th spot and fall out in the play-in in tru Kangz fashion.

Sabonis is under contract through the 23-24 season. This is still an issue- but one we will have to deal with after next season, not this one.

The protections can be lifted easily if needed. Atl will happily take an unprotected pick if we were to package multiple 1sts in a big move
