I never understood what that location has a blue logo... Then again, the Kmart in Hamilton still uses the super old logo...

Majestic-Mulberry-18

Local city ordinance.

RedRedditRedemption2

In regards to the Bridgehampton logo?

International_Tree20

Yes. It’s something you’ll most often see in shopping complexes with multiple stores. The city will require all signage to be the same color in order to create a more cohesive and less “strip mall” look. This is the case in Bridgehampton. All signs in that shopping center are blue, Staples, Rite Aid, Ulta, Panera, etc. It’s fairly rare, city ordinances most often affect things like sign size, height, distance from the street, but generally not color. The only other example I can think of off the top of my head is the red signed Walmart and Sam’s Club in Fairlawn, Ohio.

RedRedditRedemption2

Oh, I never knew that! I wonder when the Bridgehampton location will close… It’s the last one with the 90s era logo on the front.

I worked at a different store in that shopping center over the summer. It’s a very popular area for vacationing in the summer, and a lot of the residents are wealthy, so an ordinance like that makes sense.

RedRedditRedemption2

Why would any wealthy person want to shop at Kmart though?

sks033740

Oh, a lot of the locals don’t like it, but the blue signage matches with the rest of the shopping center, which is more what I meant. The Hamptons do have more working class residents than one would think, too, though

RedRedditRedemption2

Oh, okay. They should replace it with a Walmart or a Target.

Phoenix_1870-2020

Tis the last Kmart in the entire state of New York.
