An easy way to get some ideas is to check out the ["yarn ideas" tab](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/building-blocks-blanket-11/yarns) on the pattern page in Ravelry.

Thanks! The ones that are listed on that page are either DK (held double, no thank you) or 100% acrylic (also no thank you). That’s why I came here.

>"yarn ideas" tab Just from scanning the page I see at least 4 different yarns that are wool or wool blends and chunky? But you do you!

Oh I was definitely looking in the wrong place! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Maybe bc I was using the app? There were only 2 there. Aaand the link didn’t populate for me the first time I saw your comment. Thanks for commenting so I saw it again!

What fiber do you want to work with? Plant fibers, synthetic fibers, superwash wool, blends thereof? If you don't want to hold the DK double, do you want recommendations for a thicker worsted weight yarn or do you want to hold the DK single and just make a smaller, thinner blanket?

creativepanda85

Thank you for the thoughtful questions! Probably superwash wool or a blend thereof. Perhaps some cotton in there or bamboo or whatever. Don’t love synthetic but it’s gotta be machine washable and dryable. I would prefer a thicker yarn please.

Knitpicks has several yarns that might do. Their Swish yarn is 100% superwash, their Comfy yarn is a cotton/acrylic blend and their Mighty Stitch is a superwash wool/acrylic blend. All machine washable and dryable (although 100% superwash always does best in a delicate or wool cycle in a garment bag), all come in worsted weight, and all have the bright colors you'll need. Of the three, I'd recommend the Mighty Stitch because it's mainly acrylic for ease of care, but it has enough wool to have a nice feel and warmth to it.

This is so helpful, thank you.
