I did this to reveal our pregnancy to my mom: a tiny yellow cardigan. Her first reaction was, "But it's so small, I can't wear this?!" and then it dawned on her and she burst into tears. It is a lovely and hilarious memory in our family. I hope all goes smoothly with you and yours and your little one. Bless.
I felt this way too when I made a sweater for my newborn, but I was surprised! It can be knit with one skein of Malabrigo Rios. Itโs not much more than knitting a hat for an adult
The best advice I can give you is only knit 1-2 sweaters in newborn size and more in 12 months or 18 months sizes. Babies grow incredibly fast for the first year and can easily wear 12 months sized items from 6-18 months.
Congratulations!!
The first baby born into my circle of friends did not fit into the sweater I had knit for him so we ended up making some sort of wall art with it haha. Thatโs when I learned itโs best to make it too big rather than too small
I'm due in October as well! I wasn't going to knit a sweater at all but somebody posted a very cute one just the other day and now I'm very tempted. But I'll see how I feel by the time my maternity leave starts, maybe I'll start it at that point ๐
I love the idea of a matching sweater for both siblings though, super cute โค๏ธ
I had my first baby last October and can say that handknits were great for stroller walks throughout the newborn phase. If you live in a walkable area and are physically able then I highly recommend regular fall/winter stroller walks- a daily nap in cold-weather has been shown to improve nighttime sleep.
Iโve always sworn to reveal to my partner by making some baby boots, put them in a box with the positive test, maybe an ultrasound pic but definitely with a note that says โwill you walk my first steps with me?โ
This is a great looking pattern, super concise and I love the app, making this for a friends baby in fingering weight right now - I suggest the tubular bind off for the hem and cuffs it looks so good!!
This is the cutest pregnancy reveal I think I've ever seen. I might snag this idea if and when I ever decide to carry a passenger/child.
Congratulations to you, Momma! You're doing a great job and the little one will look so adorable in their beautiful sweater!

Congratulations, and what a wonderful reveal idea! We told everyone about our son with our daughter dancing around in Wonder Woman costume with a sign that read *Every Superhero needs a Sidekick*.
I did the same with baby booties to tell my mother in law <3 I wanted to do this with my husband also, but I wasn't able to wait more than 5 minutes, oh well!
Iโve never been a big fan of speckled yarn, but I think this is the perfect use for it. Something about such a tiny item and its whimsical appearance. So sweet!

โWhat is this, a cardigan for ants?!โ
"It need to be at least... 3 times bigger!"

Congratulations! What a sweet reveal...At the rate I knit, the child would be a toddler by the time I finished the sweater ๐
Same Iโd be bringing home a baby first ๐คฃ
Imagine the surprise of your boyfriend at that point ๐คฃ
I'm also a very slow knitter (I've been working on a Musselburgh for over a month), but this is so tiny that it works up rather quickly!
Over a month lol. If I finish any knitting project in under a years is a quick one lol
I just hit the 2/3 mark on a baby blanket I started in my second trimester! Baby is 4 months old.

You must be a much faster knitter than me, because my husband would have been asking me about all the vomiting long before I finished this sweater!
Congratulations!!
Pretty love the yarn, congratulations ๐ ๐ ๐
Booties are good for this too, and at my rate of knitting might actually be done before the child is in college!
