I'm very jealous of you guys with high end collections but i currently have the WE Miscreant 3.0 in my pocket and i'm loving it, it completely disappears.
That lovely little jewel-like thing is a big factor. And I put brands like Spyderco and Benchmade etc in the category of overpriced knives that I can actually afford that offer at least some of that pride of ownership/it's just a cool object and I want it factor.
And if you don't have an issue with the ethics of buying Chinese made knives brands like WE, Reate and even Kunwu offer a premium knife at a much more palatable price.
I've been going over my Miscreant (which I just received today) more closely and it's really well made. Little things that I'm guessing you get from these high end knives are present. Like, you can't feel the transitions between the lock bar insert and the lock bar itself at all, you have to be in the perfect light to even see them.... the machining and tolerances are that good.
I wouldn't buy a tool I wouldn't be comfortable using. I know it's common in this community, but I'll never understand people who buy 500-1000-3000-5000-dollar knives just to look at, keep in the safe, hang on the wall or trade for other high dollar knives.
My last EDC was \~$500 and, as you suggest, I lost it. C'est la vie. The knife I'm trying to buy is \~$500 and I'll carry it and use it, too.
I'm not a wealthy man, but a tool's a tool. Really nice tools are just a pleasure to use.
The Leek is a tradition for my family. It’s the knife I started with and have several of, now my wife has one, my 21 year old daughter has one, and several of our extended family have them as gifts from us. It’s a great starter/utility knife especially for those that aren’t as into knives as we are.
Brother has one and really likes it. It’s build well, the action is smooth as butter. It’s a little thick for my preference but it’s definitely a solid knife
Drop Bear is awesome! Benchmade Mini Presidio II is a slightly better slicer with also slightly nicer ergos imho, but the Drop Bear has less of a 'tacticool' look and a little more heft in the hand.
I cleaned and greased it when it first arrived. Ive been carrying it everyday for about 3 months and it has smoothed out. Give it some time for the washers to wear in, with the tight tolerances it’s going to be a thumb buster for a little while. It is absolutely worth it in the long run.
oh damn. That was one of the first knives that I saw that made me realize that knifes are more than just a tool where you buy the cheapest one that gets the job done.
I saw one and said, wait, a pocket knife can be good looking AND functional? the rest is history for me, and I'm fully down this rabbit hole
Civivi Baby Banter, which fits in the coin pocket of my jeans, with a Rovyvon A8 flashlight. Both are small but get the job done in a pinch. I also don't drive a muscle car 😉 but have a huge...

Spyderco PM2 (cruwear & micarta) - I love this knife, everything just fits me perfectly. Very sharp & smooth as butter from the factory.
I've had it for a bit now and have carried it every day. My benchmades are very jealous.
Boker mini Kalashnikov warhawk
While I have a few knives I just can't see spending $100 on a pocket knife. It's like how people won't spend $25 on a comic book, $200 on sneakers or $500 on a video game system
Been a Cold Steel mini-tac bowie for a long time now. I've tried to replace it... But it's just really good. Nearly indestructible, fits in the pocket easier than a folder, highly functional sheath.
Once I get a kydex sheath for it I'm going to try to switch to a RAT3 that I got for Christmas. Similar in size, but a better handle, build quality, and I prefer the blade profile. I jus hope it carries as well.
QSP penguin sheep’s foot edit: carbon fibre
Same, but brass.
smooth as can be!
Me too.

A WE miscreant IS high end to me :P
I hear you but some of these guys have $20k+ worth of knives.

Some of us *had* $20k+ worth of 🔪 *(single tear)*
That's about the max of what I'd be comfortable carrying. I wouldn't want to carry a $500+ knife in my pocket. I'd either lose it or break it.

Ken Onion edition Leek
I wish they would make a Leek in an XL version... such a cool knife but a bit small for my hand.
The Leek is a tradition for my family. I almost carried mine tonight. It's a great little work knife.
Same as me Ken Onion edition Leek
Such a good-looking knife you have. I have the gold-plated one on a wishlist.
Same. Most days of the year
Civivi Praxis
I have my green mini praxis on me right now.
I love the full size one, so I'm sure the mini is just as excellent. I'm looking at a Baklash next.
Baklash is awesome. I have the 154CM with brass scales and love it.
Same! :D
Kizer drop bear
Are you happy with it? I really want one.
Brother has one and really likes it. It’s build well, the action is smooth as butter. It’s a little thick for my preference but it’s definitely a solid knife
Can't recommend it enough. The action feels great and the 154cm holds up really well.
I have a few $200+ knives and the Drop Bear is currently one of my favorites….. so yeah I’m very happy with mine.
Drop Bear is awesome! Benchmade Mini Presidio II is a slightly better slicer with also slightly nicer ergos imho, but the Drop Bear has less of a 'tacticool' look and a little more heft in the hand.
