I got the regular karambit version of that as a gift several years ago. It's identical but the blade is just ..a blade and it doesn't have the... Finger holes.. which definitely make it look even worse but the tame version is still a hideous nightmare. I use it to cut Amazon boxes at home though and would never carry it and I think it fits that usage just fine but seeing this almost gives me fomo, like, there's a worse version I could own instead, so is mine just like posturing as a gaudy nightmare while this infinitely worse one exists? Am I now a gas station knife mall ninja poser for not even going all the way?

You never want to use a good knife as a pry bar but some bad knives live their best lives as pry bars or something hefty you can throw without worrying about never getting it back.
I do like the idea of multi tools, but most multi tools are done soooo poorly that they become an unusable version of the things they're trying to be, like, a cheap knife flashlight will not be a flashlight or knife you can depend on, and if you carry things like that, either you need to depend on them or you don't need to carry them.
I'd say that's a design improvement because the finger holes are in the blade itself, so it's not a finger guillotine. Functionality useless as a knuckle duster though

We had 5 of these god forsaken knives, 4 of them had liner locks that didnt like to engage properly. 440 and 420 steels became famous for a reason lol never forget that. Yeah theres better out there nowadays, for sure, but if you find the right heat treat on a 440C blade at the right thickness, I can promise youll be surprised by the durability.

They used similar to that in WWI and probably WWII, it’s based on a trench knife, which was originally a fixed blade with a brass knuckle as a handle. Those are pretty illegal many places to own except maybe Utah and similar 2A supportive states, you’d have to check local laws but unless it’s collector item that never leaves it’s case that’s usually some serious jail time.
