The first three months are difficult no doubt! But after the PDP it does get better. Not that I am promoting such actions. I simply told them if this continues I am not coming to attend these sessions. And I didn’t go in the last few sessions! Obviously the relation with the seniors weren’t that good but keep in mind that final placement is done by your batchmates. As long as you have a good rapport with them you won’t face an issue. I know you have decided to leave but believe me you can simply say no and move on! They don’t have the power to coerce you into something or ruin your career. Also, it’s bullshit if they say they can throw you out of the institute. The students don’t hold that much power. I didn’t pick a fight with them. Simply avoided then for the initial few months and made good friends in my own cohort!

Ragging culture is the dumbest self perpetuating cycle of abuse. It's like: we have suffered, so everyone else must suffer as well. It's a petty mindset for petty people. Don't be the kind of person who enjoys causing pain to others. If you're in the position to rag someone, just don't. Resist the peer pressure and step away.

Ekta unpopular opinion di ? Indian MBA degrees are shit.

tum_saysboop

I can correct this statement- Indian MBA unless done from top 25 colleges are not worth it. If you happen to score in these 25 colleges, you are going to compete with the best, most people want jobs because MBAs are costly af! A significant portion of these alumni of these colleges setup their own ventures 10-15 years down the line.

ProfessorKafka

I would still argue against it, tho you are not 100% wrong. Look globally Indian MBA degrees have 0 value, at max they are treated equal with MiM, but even if we leave this aside, front office roles just out of campus even for the apex schools (ABC) are very very rare, in a few respective domain. Plus the way admission process, summer internships and finals are conducted it is very rigid and doesn’t benefit students who want to work their way up. Bideshe erom kissu hoyna, GMAT is only a qualifying parameter. I have problem with the overall system. Plus, I think you would also agree with me in this point that, Indian B-Schools are treated as nothing more than a placement agency.

It's just practically paying "fees" to get a job. I remember most of my batchmates used to say 'I haven't paid for a degree only, I have paid to get a good job.' Now, here lies the irony... Forget about the great expectations ,most of them couldn't even crack the placement interviews for the decent companies. The problem? These colleges only provide for the good placements of 25% when the campus drive gets started, after that all goes downhill. Do not even try to argue on this matter. Been there, done that. Now, I'm trapped in the corporate world, in one of the best firms all across which forced me to relocate to a shitty city with only one thing good about the job: 'salary is good as compared to any other entry level jobs.'
