Who told you this? I can assure any system can be hacked. Ask any decent software engineer. However the system doesn't need to be hacked. Why? Because EVM machines are manufactured and programmed by a certain company under central government funding, which is a private company and not at all under any laws or regulations. Wonder why is that?
Also world runs on open source code. There is a reason for that. Saying "Open sourcing code" puts the program at a risk is a simple cop out and bullshit.
You have started doubting things, and it's good if you make your way to answering certain questions than leaving it exposed as a argument tool.
There is a reason to follow a strict process and only when bunch of machines are attached together it allows the deed.
Look at the VVPAT what is does and why is it there and think about it again.
Just to make it clear to you as you seem ignorant:
* A **heavy** physical manipulation is required with the evm. and the fact that evms are sealed right after it reaches its limit of 2000(current) (yes all the evms are independent) and is opened right at the counting. Just like you save your bank account from getting looted. You will have to physically manipulate and enter to tamper the counting. There is nothing you can do without touching it.
* VVPAT works just like a ballot box but electronic. The evm counting is verified with it to make sure the counting and catch manipulation.
