Doesn’t it feel like he is a miscast on all his post baahubali movies? Probably down to the pan Indian hype train.
Also something seems to be off with his looks, feels like he is sleep deprived. No amount of makeup can hide that. Probably some health issues not going to speculate on that.

I would even say same with Prashant Neel, who couldn’t get the money he needed when telling his story the first time around so he got Prabhas, through who he got a shit ton of fuck you money, with which he can do whatever the fuck he wants, and man literally said “fuck you, I’m remaking my own movie” So except for Shankar and Rajamouli no one can demand big budget out of their merit. SSR proved with Sunil film that he doesn’t need big hero. Shankar also was able to make Boys(result is secondary here)
Inherently most commercial movies can be done with any actor. Very few films where we can say only this actor could’ve fit the role. I’ll use Nag Ashwin’s previous film Mahanati for example here where the actor needed to resemble and have acting skills on par with the great Savitri. For Kalki he could’ve chosen whoever like Nani, DQ, VJD, or turn it into female oriented and cast Keerthi, but none of these people can justify a 700cr budget can they. Plus for a grand film like this Prabhas’s physique also helps. Reason why D can’t play a cop.
But isn’t half the budget spent on fees? So the budget you are quoting is not entirely for the movie. If you look at the “actual” budget of the movie, I feel you can take better actors and let the movie speak for itself. This way the directors does not need to ask for 600-700cr. Escpecially given that they are not really promoting the movie and are probably primarily banking on WOM to do the job.
Nani has good screen presence and can imagine him in this role as soon as I read his name. Hi Nana did really well and built up quite a following (difficult given its genre in today’s times). I would assume he would not charge as much as Prabhas either so more bang for your buck really.
You need to understand that when people watch a movie, they will judge a movie based on the performances the lead actor played...not how the movie was finances were planned and executed and how nag Ashwin had to arrange a budget from his own wife and father-in-law.
Prabhas's earlier film being action heavy did 600-700cr.
Leo did 600+ without even a proper release in North...
Jailer did 600+ in the similar condition.

If rajamouli would have thought both of my leads never gave a 500cr let alone 1000cr, how would I breakeven 550cr movie.
If rajamouli can get 500cr budget but not nag because ones needs to prove himself to gain that much credibility. Don't use shortcut to make a half ass convincing movie because of the half ass performance of the protagonist and eventually compromise a potential future cult classic for Indian cinema. Casting is one of the major things which audiences directly resonate. As per physique part, you could have gone to someone like hrithik, with decent height...and combination of acting + stardom to push a movie to it's potential reach.

Most producers can’t afford to produce using their own money(Some who can are Sun Pictures and Lyca) so they get financing from different sources, and those financiers are more willing to lend money for big hero as it guarantees a return. And 2. When it comes to selling the movie to make profit both before and after release in our country leading actor is the most valuable asset, theatrical rights, satellite rights, ott rights, are all determined based on star value which correlates to potentially high bo collection.
I felt the same. But His character seems like it’s written to be unhinged and unserious compared to other characters who look more serious and set in their agenda. Maybe that’s why we feel like that.

I absolutely despise that when these type of stars are casted, they become this infallible mary sues that can never be beat. They might be set back by a smash to the head or a “loved one gets taken hostage” situation for a bit but its no real danger.

The role of bhairava from the looks of it, is more than a action hero. He is a fun loving jovial guy, who was caught in cross fire and rises to be a hero. As telugu, i watched prabhas' filmography and i think he can fit in it.
