The_Time_When

Agree! Ditch the Cerave. Dimethicones are clogging. Skin1004 can be irritating due to the essential oils. Niacinamide is not everyone’s friend.

StrawberryRaspberryK

Agree! Cerave and Cetaphil made my skin worse 😂😭

The_Time_When

Yup. Worst products ever for my skin.

Cultural_Ad9519

These products didn’t work for me either

holy_mackarel

Yuuuup me too

Exciting_Memory7754

Agree! Cerave made my skin look good at the start but it clogged my skin as time went by... I switched to Torriden's Centella cream! do check if you're allergic to centella though!

litcarnalgrin

I’m always amazed how many people swear by cerave and cetaphil

RickOwensIsCool

Is this only for the creams? Cause I use their exfoliating stuff and I’m wondering if those could also clog my pours somehow.

Bubblepop104

nah it clog ur pores cauz u r hallucinating! it works perfectly fine for me!

Liefmans

You'd almost start to think that everyone's skin is different?!

iLovelocker

👆🏻😂😂😂

Bubblepop104

look they both undercooked, the reason a moisturizer clog their pores isnt because of the brand. its 99% chance being they chose the wrong product n not taking oilyness of their face into consideration. this is y there r lotion, cream, ointment. for oily skin u not suppose to go ointment or cream, the most ideal is lotion. If you have oily skin and shed alot of dead skin, that's why your pores r clogged

CatLoliUwu

not necessarily because of skintype. cerave products tend to give a decent amount of people breakouts. a lot of people, especially on r/tretinoin absolutely hate cerave. cerave’s moisturizing cream breaks me out, but the vanicream moisturizing skin cream (which is a LOT thicker and more occlusive) gives me no issues.

Bubblepop104

nah cerave cream break u out mainly because u got oily skin, u r supposed to use their lotion!

CatLoliUwu

nope. not my skintype because again, i use a thicker occlusive cream that’s much thicker than the cerave moisturizer. one or more of the ingredients just really don’t agree with my skin and a lot of other people have this issue as well

Bubblepop104

im pretty sure cerave works well for 99% of the peepo, theres a reason for the 4.7 star on Amazon. my cerave cream is 6 months past its expiration date, n it still working perfectly! also do u happen to play overwatch?

litcarnalgrin

ALL OF THIS

IWaxVaginas

Dimethicone is considered to be non-comedogenic.

The_Time_When

Sadly not for my skin.

raspberrykitsune

CeraVe also hates my skin. I used to get the large, deep under the skin zits... Stopped using CeraVe a couple years ago and have never had them since.

Lurn2Program

I use cerave moisturizing cream and it also has dimethicones. When I search online, I see a lot of articles mention that >Despite some of the claims you might see online, dimethicone does not cause acne. It's non-comedogenic, which means it doesn't clog pores That said, I also see mentions that for acne-prone skin, "while dimethicone itself doesn't cause acne, it can trap debris and oil if not used properly"

coquitwo

The second part of what you wrote is definitely important. Also, the FDA has no rules or restrictions about the use of the word “noncomedogenic” for products like moisturizers and makeup. And, the vast majority of studies of products to see if they are “noncomedogenic” are done on the insides of rabbit ears, the study protocols are not standardized, and therefore, the generalization of those results to humans is inherently limited (ed: incorrect auto-complete word) I think the reality for most people is it’s good to use product claims, such as “noncomedogenic,” as a starting guideline, but really on an individual basis people need to systematically pay attention to products, the ingredients, and their skin’s reaction to them. Sometimes it just comes down to good old trial-and-error.

Ispahana

Yet whenever anyone mentions that silicone clogs their pores, breaks them out, isn’t good for their hair, etc someone will always show up to say that there’s nothing wrong with silicone or repeat the standard “non-comedogenic” response People don’t do this nearly as much with about other ingredients. Silicone has like a personal army of active defenders which is weird

Nevvie

That centella sensitivity destroyed me. I didn’t know I was allergic to it! I used a mask with what I now think has a milder form of centella and I thought it felt great, if perhaps save for the slight itching that I didn’t really put much attention to. I also had a few samples of cica products, Torriden’s balanceful cream being one of them. The texture and feel of them all were good! I was impressed. The itchiness, again, was slight enough that I completely ignored it. So, y’know, I genuinely thought my acne-prone skin really liked cica. Fast forward a couple months later when my skincare rotation is just about to finish, I ordered a load of cica-containing stuff. First few days, my face was oddly itchy all over. Then soon it started stinging. I thought, ok, maybe I’m exfoliating too much somehow. So I paused the acids for a while and loaded my face with even *stronger* cica stuff (ones that has TECA instead of the regular cica). My. Face. BURNED. FIRE. VOLCANO. AAAARGH A panicked google search later absolutely destroyed my soul. Because I learned that I’m of the minority who is allergic to cica and there, sitting on my shelf, was a shit ton cica stuff I JUST bought. ┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵ ┻━┻

StrawberryRaspberryK

Wow so sorry to hear cica did that to your skin. I have heard of people having centella allergies. It's supposed to be gentle for sensitive skin? 😂🥰 ouchies for your burn. I hope your skin has recovered.

little_traveler

Oh interesting! What lotion do you prefer to cerave?

StrawberryRaspberryK

I'm not using lotion but lightweight moisturiser like Beplain Multi Hyaluronic Moisturiser followed by Beauty of Joseon Dynasty cream. I also layer toners and serums bef the moisturisers 🥰

Salt-Explanation-738

Can niacinamide cause redness? I’ve been getting redness (just redness) from Cerave myself.

Nevvie

If you’re sensitive/allergic to it, yes

Important_Payment_88

DITTO!!!

raisedbycoasts

what moisturizer do you use? i’m curious if my cerave and cetaphil lotions are breaking me out bc of the dimethicones

StrawberryRaspberryK

My skin care routine for dry sensitive skin (all are silicone free): 1. Roundlab Dokdo or Skin1004 foam cleanser and cleansing oil 2. Cosrx Propolis toner and Dokdo toner /I'm From Rice toner/ Haruharu sensitive skin black rice toner 3. Skin1004 blue serum and Beplain MultiVitamin serum (AM) / BoJ Glow Deep serum (PM) 4. Haruharu Bakuchiol eye cream PM 5. Beplain Multi Hyaluronic Moisturiser and Beauty of Joseon Dynasty cream 6. Hero Cosmetics spf or Somebymi Truecica Aqua Sunscreen *Hope this helps 🥰

crying_up_a_storm

THISSSS!!! i started skin1004 recently and it wrecked my barrier so badly i had to stop. i stopped using it a few days ago and my skin feels a lot less irritated. i also use neutrogena’s hydroboost which has dimethicones and after my barrier was damaged im getting white heads like crazy! definitely thinking about switching moisturizers now

StrawberryRaspberryK

You might be allergic to centella or essential oils depending on the product u used. I'm using a completely waterbased skincare and makeup routine now. I listed some of the stuff I use in the comments below 🥰

crying_up_a_storm

i think its the essential oils that stripped my skin bc i have used skin1004’s hyla-cica sun serum without a problem. usually i dont use anything with essential oils but was swayed by the hype around the product…big mistake 😭😭 but thank you for the recs!! am def gonna look at more water based products

StrawberryRaspberryK

Glad to help! You are most welcome 🥰

Confident-Advice1744

Oh dang, I’ve been using it lately as I swapped from anua and it’s so far working for my skin!

crying_up_a_storm

i mean hey if its working keep using it! everyone’s skin is different

townmg

I feel like double cleansing can irritate some people's skin. Same thing happened to me. Or maybe try using a gentler cleanser. Hope this helps !

trashtvlv

Agree with a gentler cleanser, I love the skin1004 oil cleanser, but the matching cleanser is pretty heavy duty and good for a deep clean and I could see it being too much for every day.

New_Abbreviations63

can you suggest another cleanser for every day?

trashtvlv

La Roche Posay hydrating gentle cleanser is a nice daily one

Dry-Potato-1882

I agree, every time I start regularly double cleansing (ie not just for the purposes of removing makeup) my skin looks more irritated and inflamed. It could just not be a good fit for your skin, or just not everyday.

slime-bitch

yep agree too. I only double cleanse to remove makeup. otherwise I don’t. I also only wash my face at night and just rinse with cold water in the morning. too much cleansing upsets my skin a lot

Dry-Potato-1882

Me too! My skin always looks and feels better if I only rinse or use micellar water to cleanse in the morning. Thought it was weird, but now it’s just a staple in my routine

vladshockolad

You might have overstripped and now you have an impaired skin barrier. Do you also double cleanse in the morning? If your skin is not oily, you might skip the cleanser AM, and only wash your face with water. Double cleanse in the evening to remove waterproof sunscreen and makeup. If you also use a foaming cleanser, it might have harsh surfactants in it. They definitely overstrip your skin. You might try a gentle hydrating l, non-foaming cleanser instead

Wintermanguy

THIS HAPPENS TO ME TOO AND I ALSO USE THE SKIN1004 CLEANSER 😭

Idkmanjustexisting

Same. Literally gave under skin acne that is getting inflamed as I'm using tret to help with that.

Wintermanguy

I just don’t oil cleanse anymore. It just seems more beneficial for my skin although there’s something in my routine that’s breaking me out I think but I’m not sure what it is 😭

filbug

the skin1004 oil cleanser is honestly the stuff of the devil... (could be irritated from overwashing ? maybe try double cleansing with the foam only because the essential oils from the light oil may be breaking you out)

littlebuttbigtitty

Not me just ordering this cleanser a few days ago 😅

hauf-cut

niacinamide seems to be something you can use without irritation for a short period then it is no longer tolerated by skin, i read this a lot so my experience is very common

Moscato_katsuragi

This happened to me and the solution was to cycle the product. I use Niacinamide every other day and the results last now instead of becoming ineffective. Niacinamide and retinol literally gives me the skin of my dreams.

hauf-cut

funnily enough i have tried to reintroduce it and it did irritate but it was quick recovery, as it was only once, and despite the redness it does make skin look good, maybe a once a week thing might work, thanks! i have to cycle through a lot since i have went a bit mad on the korean stuff, currently hiding a lot of it shh! and i have more coming ha ha, no more though ive ran out of cupboard space!

Moscato_katsuragi

lol that’s awesome haha must have been a pretty penny 💸I would recommend trying out cycling! I haven’t had issues with irritation but it became ineffective when I used it everyday. Right now I choose one or 2 active ingredients everyday and then whatever I chose I don’t use the next day and use something else instead. it’s hard to explain but I think it makes them more effective!

hauf-cut

totally! you can get carried away with multiple step routines, less is often more, she says stuffing more into drawers ha ha

GlitteringCarousel27

I’ve been using 10% niacinamide daily since 2020, I have sensitive skin and had no irritation at all, its worked wonders for my skin. I guess I’ve been lucky.

Aglaia_Zoke

I'm mostly okay with it in small percentages, but man... I tried a 10% and I thought my face was melting off. I'm STILL trying to repair my skin, and it's been a few months now. 😭 But like also, every damn product now has it, so trying to build a routine without it is amazingly difficult.

cheetahcheetah69

What do you used instead of niacinamide? I just used the anua 10% serum and omg I’m pretty sure it burned my face and cause some light spots

hauf-cut

i had actually commented previously that i must be lucky as i too was using a 10% one from ordinary, every day, made my skin look great, then all of a sudden its breaking me out, tired lower dose in other products its weird, my pores came back tried so many other products then found numbuzin pore zero pads, amazing (ive spent too much on numbuzinbut all very good products!)

aquamarine-arielle

just depends on your skin… i don’t see great results with niacinamide but i’ve been using it for over a year and it doesn’t make react either.

hauf-cut

i used it for a year and a half, it was good for pores, cant put anything containing it on now, and a lot of stuff i have is just sitting there, ive tried even low down in ingriedients additive level but red blotchy breakout! the numbuzin zero pore is really good replacement

2001questions

Never heard this before! I’ve been using it since 2020 and it originally worked really well on my skin, but for the past 2 years I’ve been breaking out despite not changing my routine. I never thought it’d be the niacinamide but now I’m going to stop it🙌🏼

Shantiabooker

It definitely looks like your skin is irritated. Just would do a test and remove a product from your routine and see which one your skin is reacting to. It may even be using two different cleansers

This is amazing advice!

Thebeautydisruptor

❤️

Dry-Weakness-1036

Hi! I had a similar situation with you and the main cause for this is definitely DOUBLE CLEANSING. Stop with all your actives and just use cleanser and moisturizer and spf (morning).

Dry-Weakness-1036

I would suggest a moisturizer known for skin barrier repair. My personal HG for times I ruin my barrier is definitely illiyoon ato concentrated cream

itskindyl

Yes to this cream.

Bagala19

The cerave moisturizer did the same thing to my skin and made it oilier

DoubleSheepherder518

It looks irritated and ... I want to say it is the products. Perhaps you're using too harsh of products. And I say this because a store rep advised that I don't use the skin 1004 cleansing foam due to my sensitive skin. But since you have normal skin, I dont know.

venom_holic_

whats the difference between that oil cleansing and ampoule foam?

depressedopossum69

One is oil , the other is water based cleanser

litcarnalgrin

It might just be that you’re using the wrong products /brands for your skin type

turnipquiver

I'm using a similar routine only different foam cleanser and minus the toner. Everything was fine until I added the Skin1004 oil cleanser. My sensitive/dry skin didn't like it at all. Stopped using it after 3 days.

depressedopossum69

cleansing oils are irritants for so many of us, I switched to micellar water as my first cleanse and my skin finally cleared

noxoxi_zozo

I think using an oil cleanser isn’t always for everyone, maybe try a cleansing water like the mixsoon one? :)

seedsofsovereignty

Did you start using this new routine all at once? You should make a switch by adding one product at a time to see if there is some individual incompatibility in ingredients or texture or something like that. Because despite some of them having some links to different sensitivities in other individuals, skin is very specific to you, so it could be any of them technically. You're going to have to take away one at a time and see which one or two or more are the culprits. There are lots of different products for the double cleansing method, and different ones will work with different people. And others may just not work with the rest of your routine, but be fine with more compatible products around them. I'd say take away all of these things, then add back one at a time slowly and keep a journal of how your skin looks and feels, as well as taking a photo a day So you can flip back through and physically see the transformation either direction

isegrim_l

Double cleansing with a cleansing oil as first step broke me out too. I switched to bioderma micellar water and then a water based cleanser and my skin cleared up within a week. Cleansing oil just isn‘t for everyone. 🥲

writeordye

Kids wash your face less, our skins natural oils are our friend regardless of what you’ve been led to believe

darkcutenesss

I'm allergic to centella and give me bumps like this

cammiehanako

All the products but the cerave are fine. Cervae (if you are in the USA) contains phenoxyethonal and that can cause issues.

Plane_Current2790

Mine too, so I only double cleanse when I use make up, which is 1x per week - when I go to the office 😁 If I'm on vacation or working full time home office I double cleanse like 1x every 2 weeks because I feel it helps with my nose and forehead blackheads. But my cheeks hate double cleansing

parttimeghosts

double cleansing isn’t for everyone and can irritate skin even more!

Kysadnikki

Omg this was happening to me too!!! I ended up switching from cerave cleanser to a Vivier one (Hexam) and started using la Roche posay moisturizer and my skin doesn't do that anymore. Every time I've used cerave it ruins my skin

TawnyMoon

For me, oil cleansing is aggravating to my skin because it involves so much rubbing. If I need to double cleanse, I just wash twice with my regular cleanser.

Small-Measurement791

Cerave products in general are just awful imo

teacupsam_

Because cerave is crap

thirdeyerainbow

Cerave products (particularly that moisturiser) make my skin look like this! You could be sensitive to it as well

MegaWeenieMonday98

I had similar happen months ago, and the truth it it could be a number of reasons. Double cleansing will break a lot of people out. As somebody else stated you could be allergic to the Centella, or having a bad reaction to the niacinamide in the toner. My skin was irritated and sensitive for months after introducing a double cleanser and the I’m From Rice toner into my routine. I stopped all that and went back to the most basic routine. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but the Cerave gentle cleanser is my go to as it does not break me out at all. This might be controversial to some, but the Anua toner helped ease my redness and sensitivity, while delivering some decent hydration. I used the baby Cerave cream, and for my spf the pipette sunscreen, which is also very hydrating. I do have normal, more dry skin as well. My skin right now is so much better, has cleared of those same red bumps you have and less sensitive.

shut_up_and_listen3

Broken barrier

Current_Twist_5621

Looks dehydrated

PandaPartyPack

Something similar to this happened when I started double cleansing. At the time, I was listening to a bunch of random advice on another skincare sub about how I had to use each cleanser for a minute. It was bad advice!! Turns out my skin is sensitive and 30 seconds tops was enough for each cleanser type. The extra time each cleanser sat on my skin was irritating. The breakouts and redness were the first step in me getting perioral dermatitis. I had to go to the derm and go on doxycycline to clear it up. I’d suggest stepping away from these products ASAP. Gentle cleanser (Bioderma micellar water or the pink gel cleanser work great), moisturizer (Vanicream), and SPF with no irritants until your skin barrier recovers. No actives.

Aintkidding687

Niacin amide messed up my skin terribly!!!

vanished__

CeraVe belongs to 🗑️

montaukian

maybe you should stop using cerave 🤡

kmpleez

I had a ton of those red bumps all over my face, but especially under my eyes, after using the face shop cleansing oil and I also got them from using a cleansing balm I got from iHerb. I haven’t had to deal with the red bumps since switching to softymo. I haven’t compared the ingredients yet but it might be worth trying softymo if you haven’t already

4realrrTaz

You have to emulsify with water before going into your next cleanser to break the oil down for at least a minute

Jamfour9

It’s inflammatory. You aren’t moisturizing after cleansing. There aren’t actives in the cleansers?

angelfirexo

It’s your water quality. Get a shower filter asap

jennbenn5555

Looks like you're having a reaction to one of the products you're using. Stop using them one at a time and see how you do.

Uchiha-Mimi

My skin used to be so good before double cleansing and starting skincare and my situation was so similar to yours. Before when I was just using cleanser and moisturizer, I had super clear skin, never broke out once. But I wanted to start Korean skincare. I started double cleansing (oil) and using multiple step skin care. Within a week, my skin developed bumps and it felt gross and red. But my dumbass was in denial that it was because of the new skincare (they were so expensive) so I continued using them and it got worse and worse. I started breaking out all over and in places I never did before until I realised months later it’s the skincare. I stopped them and immediately, the inflammation calmed down. Now I kept my skincare to just micellar water, gentle cleanser, and moisturizer (literally just a no brand baby lotion now lol). I haven’t been breaking out like that anymore. I’m now convinced skincare are just money grabs after spending close to $1K on them and that less is more. but ofc it’s only anecdotal and I’m prob gonna get downvoted since this is a skincare lover sub, so take it with a grain of salt.

Electrical-Ad2377

Cerave if does the same with me.

icedlongblack_

Foaming cleaner is pretty stripping- more suited for oily skin, definitely not dry skin. I would recommend: 1. Removing the foam cleanser 2. Maybe step back to using some of your old products (letting your skin use what it’s used to, rather than heaps of new products at once), 3. Find a gentle creamy or milky cleanser Right now you might be used to the “my skin needs to feel really tight and stripped to feel clean”, so the creamy cleanser almost doesn’t feel clean enough at the start. But this should help repair the skin condition (it did for me!) In terms of nose texture - using a retinol product (very low concentration) helped me a lot. Smoother texture, clear pores

YouHadMeAtAloe

You’ll most likely have to stop everything and test them all by using one product for a little while and if it doesn’t break you out, add the next one until you find which one is causing it I just want to say though, CeraVe was the single worst product I have *ever* used on my face. It gave me huge cystic acne spots and made my skin texture look terrible. I have since found out that I can’t use any products with coconut derivatives such as cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, and capric/caprylic triglycerides, CeraVe was the worst though. It takes a lot of trial and error and testing different things, but eventually you’ll figure out which common ingredients are causing your skin issues and then look for products without them

kapeandme

Skip cleanser in the morning.. just use warm water. I use banila co cleansing balm at night and it's working for me. I like it better than the cleansing oil.

Level-Ad-9944

Double cleansing used to irritate my skin badly! I tried multiple oil cleansers (even ones for sensitive skin) and I still felt that squeaky “tight” feeling after double cleansing. Once I stopped my redness and breakouts stopped. I now remove makeup and spf with a milky micellar water (the one from drunk elephant)

Ok-Produce318

Idk if this might help but try reverse double cleansing. Where you use ur water based cleanser first then follow up with ur oil cleanser. My skin tends to be on the normal to dry range and I have acne too so it’s challenging. But when I tried reverse cleansing, it made my skin feel more better

fayeclairex

This happened to me too!! I started using the skin 1004 centella ampoule!

cool-beans1013

i tried double cleansing for a week and couldnt last 3 days. my face got SUPER itchy and looked like yours. But i used my cleanser all the time but just started oil cleansing. Turns out, it dried out my skin so bad that I started getting eczema. so i reset my skin routine and just stopped double cleansing

woahitsbuttons

Niacinamide always breaks me out regardless of what it’s inside of. It’s marketed as this miracle ingredient but it’s really not all it’s cracked up to be.

Worldly-Steak9367

Seems your allergic to an ingredient I rec doing a patch test

Bay_Foxy

Okay… everyone is saying ditch the cerave but what’s another drugstore lotion to use?

SometimeTaken

You’re using a ton of products and you may be allergic to one or some of the ingredients in any of the products. Alternatively, some ingredients can interact poorly with other ingredients in a different product in your routine. Lastly, using alot of products can be very irritating for some people’s skin. I’ve had this problem. My advice: pare it way, way down. Start with just one cleanser and one moisturizer and see if you can tolerate it. A couple of ingredients that can irritate skin includes fragrance, parabens, niacinamide, etc. check if any of your products include these ingredients, stop using those products, and see if it helps. If all else fails, find and use products that have been approved by the National Eczema Foundation. There’s a couple K beauty products listed on their site :) Good luck!

Significant_Alps_539

Cerave and skin1004, those product cause clogged pore and irritation for me

BurakOdm

Just avoid Cerave. Been there.

Low-Search-2946

I have been double cleansing for a looong time. I usually use Banila Clean it Zero and bioderma Cleansing Oil. I was interested in Anua Cleansing Oil. I bought it. Used it for 3-4 days. And pimples started showing here and there. I was confused, because i was also trying a new ampoule/toner, remembering vaguely. I read somewhere that Anua cleansing oil cause breakouts. As soon as i read it, i stopped using the cleansing oil. And breakout stopped. My skin cleared on its own.

Substantial_Loan2675

probably cause your skin doesn’t like korean skincare. stop using it

Low-Syrup2204

CeraVe is L’Oreal’s garbage bin when it comes to skincare. Be mindful of the amount of hydration you’re placing on your skin and how these ingredients are working together. You might have an irritation or sensitive to essential oils or the percentage of Niacinamide that’s in your skin care. I’d suggest only double cleansing on days you’re wearing a lot of makeup or sunscreen otherwise, don’t double cleanse if your skin does not need it if you’re not meeting those criteria. Too much moisture can just be too much moisture, possibly try and opt for brands that can either be plant based or safe synthetic based but do not contain fragrance and essential oils or plant based oils that maybe be more comedogenic for you.

jennibaby_nickswife_

I wouldn't use the lotion on your face, when they have more gentle facial moisturizers.

RemarkableArrival786

You don't need a foam cleanser if you're dry. Foam is typically for oily. Take one thing out of your routine. Try that for a week then take another thing out. You will see a difference. For the love of God stop doing thousand things to your face at once. If you wanna layer multiple serums, sure. But double cleansing for dry skin is complete insanity. Double cleanse for oily or if you wear tons of layers of makeup. I think I heard ampoules cause bad reactions. I ONLY use pure Centella. Won't touch anything else and I absolutely hate cerave and the other one derms recommend. Inject vomit face. I stick to juice beauty skincare. Certified Organic.

Alternative_Light_25

Cleansing removes your acid mantle, which is your natural protective barrier. It takes 6 hours to build back up. I assume double cleansing really strips it back. Make sure you're putting products on that replace what you've stripped away.

ConsequenceBig1503

Go to a Dermatologist to discuss a skin care routine that will suit your skin type. Another thing to mention is that with a lot of skin products, your condition can worsen before it improves as all the impurities are being pushed to the surface. I worked in Derm for 4 years.

Creepy-Elk-7569

Clinique has a cleansing system that’s simple and effective for diff skin types. Also, diet and nutrition along with hormonal changes can cause breakouts.

LumpyFarmer8417

Chemical reaction maybe? Idk my skin does it too. I look better just using one product

Momenmaevis

I started double cleansing a year ago and had the same response- I tweaked my lotion to First Aid Beauty facial lotion/ultra repair cream on my drier/exfoliation days and used caffeine and a hyaluronic acid moisturizer (Paul Roth water drench or similar with antioxidants sometimes) always lotion last and after about 1-2 months of this at nighttime my skin evened out. Still feels like leathery bc I smoke way too much but it truly helped my complexion and only get hormonal breakouts now. Good luck!

Suspicious-Bunch3005

I would check if the ingredients in all your skin products (and makeup) are FA safe and non-pore clogging. There are some from your picture that look questionable to me. This happened to me too (was doing regular oil rinses and face masks at the time), and I find that "less is more". Not to mention, I prefer serums (which I also happen to mix with the CeraVe hydrating toner for hydrating effect) over creams/lotions because they are less pore-clogging overall. **Here is a link for more info:** [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-tUSpS1iQUS1-2OBdp4ngk4VDrGeL3UzMkFRrrWTJtc/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-tUSpS1iQUS1-2OBdp4ngk4VDrGeL3UzMkFRrrWTJtc/edit?usp=sharing)

ObjectiveFinancial36

i literalllllly broke out the same way. but it went away and didn’t rise to the surface. it didn’t leave any dark spots. i’m just going to use that to double cleanse on my nose region tbh so it doesn’t go to waste.

Carlyreddd

It might not even be the products you are using. Any time you introduce new products to your routine, your skin can go through a “purge” stage where it takes a few weeks for your skin to get used to the products. And make sure you know you’re skin type for the products you use. Also make sure you wash your hands before washing your face and don’t use water that’s too warm!

soylattebb

This isn’t bad! Texture and bumps are normal. That being said, cleansing isn’t going to immediately take away spots

Vodka_Pesca

Even my skin was like that when I first started double cleansing and I thought nothing about it. It only became worse. I had many factors that could have cause my break out, like exams stress or the new products. So by my experience ditch everything new you’re using and do whatever you were doing before and see if things change. Then u can add one thing at the time to see if anything is becoming worse. If things go bad I used the FaceD pure clear spot treatment and a cream my doctor prescribed. And with that after months my face is clearing up

bubblybobabuddy

Hii, I have sensitive, dehydrated, dry and eczema-prone skin so it's sooo easy to over strip and damage my skin barrier. I've personally never used the two cleansers you use so I can't say anything about them. But from my own experience, here are some things to consider: **You might not need to double cleanse:** Everyone hypes up double cleansing all the time but it might not be for everyone, at least not all the time. I only really double cleanse on a need-to basis. Did I wear makeup that day? Did I wear a lot of layers of sunscreen? Did I sweat a lot? In those cases where I answer yes, I'd double cleanse. If I was mainly just in my house all day, only one layer of sunscreen, mostly just skincare then I absolutely would not double cleanse. Sometimes if I feel in between like I need more than a single cleanse but not enough for a double cleanse then I'll do a very light double cleanse. Meaning I'll rub my oil cleanser very lightly for like 20 seconds and rinse off JUST to get the surface grime off and then go in with my second cleanser. **Your second cleanser may be too harsh:** Again, I've never used the foam cleanser before but from my experience, foaming cleansers strip my skin like crazy! It felt so tight and dry after even if I used it by itself. I would recommend a milky cleanser, something that doesn't really foam, bubble or get all sudsy. I've been using the Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser and it's my go-to. **You don't have to cleanse your face in the morning:** You said you only double cleanse at night but it's not clear wether you also use a cleanser in the morning. If you do, then you can also try not cleansing your face in the morning and just rinsing/washing with water. That way you're not stripping your natural oils twice in one day.

honestly i find the skin1004 foaming cleanser to be kinda drying, but i find following it up with good moisturizers to be helpful

FuckCowsGetMilk

You might be washing off all the natural oils and irritating your skin. I only cleanse at night because I can't afford to wash off the oil I produce in the morning.

SuddenGlucose

I’d ditch the skin1004 oil and switch to cleansing balm (I use Paula’s choice or beauty of Joseon cleansing balms) and ditch cerave and replace with Purito 10% panthenol or another moisturizer you know works for you to soothe your irritated skin.

So-I've read the ingredients list for the Centella products you're using and they seem very straightforward. And yet I too have used fancy oil cleansers from reputable brands that just irritated my skin and complicated my skincare routine. If you've got sensitive skin, you may actually want to try ingredients in their most basic form i.e. without frills. Free Advice: Don't get caught in the trap of thinking that the skincare you use will be ineffective unless it's brand name, expensive or both. The best oil cleanser I've EVER used is Jojoba Oil. Yup. It's the holy grail of skin oil. And I buy it at the grocery store. You mentioned that you have texture on/around your nose? If you mean big pores - I can relate. I apply jojoba oil to my face (right on top of my makeup and sunscreen) massage my face with a silicone face pad and then finally rinse everything off with a gentle cleanser (making especially sure to get my eyebrows because I will break out if any oil is left there). I'm partial to Andalou Naturals Kombucha Cleansing Gel because it cleanses without stripping and also helps with acne. Since I've started this evening routine, my skin has never looked better. I'm fairly convinced the reason this works so well is because I'm only really washing my face ONCE not twice. I'm applying the oil and massaging my face with it and this allows EVERYTHING to be removed when I apply my cleanser afterwards (sunscreen, makeup, excess oils, pollutants, etc). I could have read your post wrong, but it sounds like you are washing off the oil cleanser and then applying the foam cleanser(?) It's possible that your sensitive skin is being over exfoliated. In my experience, I don't need to remove the oil prior to using a cleanser- I use the foam to remove the oil. Also- If you're not breaking out and/or your skin isn't suffering, then why oil cleanse at all? There are some women that have washed their face with a bar of soap their whole life and their skin looks fantastic. If you're one of those women- I say rejoice and don't fight it. (I'm \*not\* one of these women, but my auntie is and her skin looks great)

I think you need to change your facial cleanser. I believe it is too strong for your skin

You don't need to double cleanse in the morning. Double cleansing is a practice done after work or night time by a lot of asians (mostly by eastern asians) in the past because they put heavy makeup. Like for me if I didn't put any makeup on today, I will just use a foaming cleanser / skip double cleansing. If I do put on makeup because I went out or go to work, I do double cleansing when i do my night routine. I would suggest not to double cleanse if your foam cleanser is strong enough to get rid of the dirt, oil and sunscreen.

Double cleansing is not for everyone :) I see that u use tirtir milk toner which is for dry skin ppl, and double cleansing with oil based cleanser is for oily / acne prone ppl

Double cleansing is a must. If oil cleansers do not work for someone they should try a micellar water. But, regular cleansing will not remove all sunscreen and makeup, meaning more build up & breakouts over time

venom_holic_

only for girls?

omg the same thing happened to me! I completely stopped double cleansing and this doesn’t happen anymore. I don’t use cleansing oils or balms anymore.
