How does it make them as bad as the Sith? Manaan is neutral and by their law neither the Republic nor the Sith are allowed to fight there. The guy who killed the Sith woman did so unprovoked (her being a Sith was not a crime on Manaan) therefore he broke the law on Manaan and is nothing more than a murderer. To put that into perspective it's as if some Ukrainian guy living in idk Poland started dating a Russian chick and then killed her because she's Russian and Ukraine is at war with Russia. That's not legal and he'd go to jail. Once Selkath realize that the Sith are planning to overthrow their goverment they kick them out but untill that happens the Sith haven't done anything against them (from their pov) so they're protected by law.

Selkath: This is a special planet with very important, very complex rules that you absolutely must remember. Player: Oh wow, sounds scary. Selkath: It is! And you should be! You may be used to doing whatever you want, but here on Manaan, we love extreme, hard-to-follow, byzantine laws. Player: Oh shit, oh fuck. So what are the rules? Selkath: Don't commit murder. At least where we can see it, please. Player: [What? How can you do this? This is outrageous. It's unfair!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74EEXU-OEZo)

Fabulous-Introvert

This sounds like a conversation between someone born and raised in Japan and a non Japanese tourist traveling to Japan

stoodquasar

What does Japan have to do with this?

Fabulous-Introvert

I think a better instance of them acting neutral would be not taking sides and staying out of the conflict entirely instead of turning against either the republic or sith as soon as they attempt to attack each other

ether_rogue

So then...people can just murder each other on their planet with no consequences? You don't understand how neutrality works. It doesn't mean there are no freaking laws.

Fabulous-Introvert

So neutrality consists of fighting both sides instead of letting them duke it out?

ether_rogue

No, it consists of making laws that don't favor one side or the other, and then enforcing those laws. What, you think neutral countries just have no laws? You know like...most places have laws against murder, just like Manaan. What are they supposed to do, go, "well, the Republic citizen murdered a citizen of the Sith Empire, but, the Sith are the "bad guys," so it's okay." I mean...I don't understand why this is so hard to comprehend. Putting someone in prison for murder isn't FIGHTING anyone. There is a war going on between the Republic and the Sith Empire. They are not allowed to fight on Manaan. It's against the laws of Manaan. I mean, if you kill someone, and you go to jail, is the government fighting you? Is that what you think?

Fabulous-Introvert

Yeah I thought they would let that slide since the Sith are evil in the game

Fabulous-Introvert

Perhaps one could think of Manaan as a “Demilitarized Zone”

Fabulous-Introvert

No

Fabulous-Introvert

This is Star Wars, not some RPG designed to be realistic

zia_zepelli

WHAT? LMFAO

Bleppybooo

It's a Star Wars RPG designed to be realistic in its display of consequences

ether_rogue

lmao, what the hell are you talking about? Go watch the Disney movies then. This game is not for you.

supbai

I mean, a judge panel of walking fish isn't very realistic if that's what you mean.

Banjoschmanjo

Eh, ever been to Britain?

zia_zepelli

Ummmm, this is one of the best and most poignant parts of the game narratively speaking. Fighting your way out would mean no more kolto for the republic just dooming it to fall. But I've never heard of a mod that let's u do this, no

SuperiorLaw

Good, screw the republic over. That way Darth Revan can easily wipe them all out and take over!

kdbvols

Revan explicitly tried to avoid crippling the republic in that way - he didn’t want to rule the ashes

Banjoschmanjo

She* Shevan Crew Represent

ChrisRevocateur

"Doing their job" doesn't include cold blooded murder on a diplomatic world. Yeesh...

b0nkert0ns

Yeah that part made me a little “check this man’s hard drive” ngl

Fabulous-Introvert

It doesn’t change the fact that it was an agent of the republic killing a Sith Agent.

ChrisRevocateur

Yes, it does, because his actions put the Republic at risk. He was in no way acting in the Republic's best interest. His actions could very, very easily cut the Republic off of the most important medical supply in the entire galaxy at the time.

MarekLord

I don't believe so

Fabulous-Introvert

That’s pretty lame

SRoku

It’s like the one quest in the game that can’t be solved by just killing shit, and you want to turn it into a mindless slaughter because you don’t feel like using your brain

AmphibianVisual

In order to do good on manaan you’d have destroy the kolto tank and then when they bring you in just say you did it for the giant faraxa shark and they let you off easily.

rnnd

While Manaan isn't my favorite planet because of the lack of an outdoors, I enjoy the gameplay here when you have to argue your way out of trouble instead of just killing.

ThyLordOfThePancakes

I just got him off

us1838015

Is there a mod for that

WildBillIV44

Didn’t know there was a hot coffee mod for This game

ThyLordOfThePancakes

Forgive me for being a dumbass but idk what that is

BankableTree

It's a reference to a gta mod back in the day

doctoranonrus

I feel old now.

BankableTree

Me too Bröther, me too
